Too be really honest, i think us Monk's got bummed out on this chest piece.

Compare this Robe to the Time Tunic, and there really isn't much difference, ok we get Cleave 2, DoT Shielding 4%, 1% Shielding.... 4 AC & 40hp... i personally think this is poor.

Ton Po's Tunic is a LOT easier to get than Pressl's Robe as well.

Just my 2cp too be honest.
question about Cleave
# Aug 03 2004 at 11:35 PM Rating: Decent
Here's a question I've been wondering, maybe someone can shed some light... So the effect is Cleave II which according to lucy or alla it's
Chance to Critical Hit(40) eleven times. So what exactly does that mean? Does it mean you have a 40% chance of critting, 4% chance, 44% chance? I mean 40% and 44% seem awefully high, so 4% seems like it'd be about right, but would 4% really make a difference? I've heard people say cleave I makes you crit a ton more. Please help my friend and I figure this one out.

First of all, level 60+ monks don't begin to lose AC until they weigh 25 pounds. An elemental/Time/Gates geared monk will be way under 25 stones, so I don't believe this 2.5 weight is going to cause many problems.. however I do agree that it's a bit much for a high end, monk only item.

Secondly, by the time you get to this 49 AC "robe", you should already have 1500 ac at LEAST. the AC soft cap (for monks at least) is around 1300, if not exactly 1300. Anything more than that does "almost" nothing for you. Noticable differences come in increments of hundreds of AC at this point, and a monk at this point is looking for more hp/resists/effects than anything else.

And for the "very occasional 65 monk" that was asking what it took to obtain one of these things.. Sadly you just won't see it. Guilds that get their hands on this kind of loot in the zones that this kind of stuff drops in, require their members to raid at least 4 to 5 nights a week.. generously. And for a guild to go from pre-elemental to this point in the game takes upwards of a year (unless the guild is a re-formed time/gates guild). I hate to be the bearer of bad news, if you ever read these posts again, but at least now maybe you have some idea of what to reasonably set your sights on.

Ya. I long since bothered to look at my weight. But last tine I got an upgrade, it was 17 stones.

Glad someone agrees with me :P I thought I read on patch info, they were going to look over the monk weight on these quest items. So the issue of weight I doubt will be important at all soon, its a nice *** BP, grats to whomever gets it

Point taken, Karn,.. thanks for the info, I gathered that it would take a lot of effort to get these types of items. I know that, realistically, I would never see these items, especially as I am an unguilded player. While I love to play EQ, I know that I would never be accepted into the uber types guilds because I just dont have the time due to work and other commitments.

But I can still dream.......... :P
vadd armor uses same stuff

this real?
# Apr 07 2004 at 12:17 AM Rating: Decent
While its possible to be real I find it odd that this is the 1st and only monk armor confirmed from this quest. Tunics usually being the most dificult to get makes me question the authenticity of this item. And theres no lucy link for it either.

The weight isnt a problem, but it is kinda high for a monk only quested armor..and if the rest of the quest armor follows in higher weight, then we are used to seeing on monk only items, then there could be problems.

edit: actually just searched lucy and it is listed, just no link for it yet.

Just out of curiosity, what is the requirement to do these quests for these items? I am a very occasional level 65 monk, but i am not elemental or time or any uber zone flagged. Can someone shed some light on this for me please?

not compleatly sure what it take but im pritty sure you have to compleat the sewers trials "or the weapon master" + tipt & vxed then youor some one need all 3 ikkinx trials to unlock the ikkinz rainds where you need to compleat 4 ikkinz raid trils then with some traid skill stuff in there some where, then "much less knolageable about this part" compleat some trials in yxtta and i think there is afue more stuff befor you can get to the zone that has the raid mob that drops the stuff you need to farm for the quest /takes a deep breth
kinda like the elemental armor quests in pop
and i have fealing that what we see up there is not the real deal, i bet it a fished link, like when we had links of the elemental BPs from pop long befor any guild was in time

How can this be a quested item, when it says that it is a result of a raid event? None of the other Abysmal Armor items that have been found like the warrior's one shows as a raid event. Basically because you turn in armor to Nalsine and she give you back for the armor.

Its been awhile since I played monk, but doesn't weight just negativly affect AC? Anyhow how often do you plan on tanking as a monk.. as another posted said the hps are great and who knows wonder if ac on item compensates any weight problems with the set

You're kidding, right?

Monks do this little thing called pulling, where they bring an unslowed, undebuffed mob to the raid/xp group. Sometimes they stay ahead of the mob, sometimes they don't.

That AC that you think they don't need could be the difference between a succesful pull and a premature death.

? So AC is better than hps? The argument I was getting at is the hps and natural ac on the armor are good enough to not freak out about the weight, I mean a monk that gets this item is in a time guild and the hps seem alittle nicer than a few extra ac, but maybe thats me and who knows what weight on rest of set is
RE: this real?

think of it this way: 1 ac = about 5 hp,
and you have a chance to avoid the attack altogether. its good to jack them both up if you can, some like one some like the other, it all depends on you.

with a BP of 49 ac, i would be 99% sure that no matter the wt on this BP it wouldn't drop your AC so much that you lost AC in the end by wearing it. Granted you may only get 45AC but 45 ac is nice.

I wear Fennin and would be happy to trade it for this item.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 12 2004 at 7:29 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 3.5 weight. blah. who would willingly wear this over an elemental tunic?
RE: Thier idea of
# Mar 13 2004 at 10:50 AM Rating: Default
I have Fennin Ro Vest on my monk and would gladly trade that out for this. Add a 40hp aug and it's 290 fricken hitpoints, add the modifiers and it makes this 1 hell of a tunic.

Not a monk, hell dont even have a monk, but wouldnt the ac and the other stats make up for the loss of ac from the weight? still seems like a nice tunic. Smiley: chug
RE: Thier idea of
# Mar 13 2004 at 4:07 AM Rating: Decent
hmm that's lighter than what my monk wears right now, phase spider carapace 5 stones, and wields an anklesmasher also 5 stones and i'm only at 19 stones, at 59 that's 1 stone under my limit

3.5 is not too bad at 65. At that level the weight limit is up to 24...or 25 not sure off the top of my head. Anyway, I'm at 18 weight fully equipped, with two WR bags in my inventory and no coin. That gives me around 7 weight to play with. This tunic would not be a problem and I would sell my soul for it.
RE: Thier idea of
# Jul 10 2004 at 10:39 PM Rating: Decent
Just to confirm, a Monk begins losing AC at 25. So some look at the limit as 25, some look at it as 24. I, personally, look at it as 24, and I believe most Monks do the same.
RE: Thier idea of

Ironically, I believe selling your soul is one of the steps in the quest for this...
