Yeah it's hand armor not a weapon, Back when they made the monk epic quest there where no hand to hand weapons, so instead of giving us a blunt weapon (monks blunt skill caps higher then hand to hand anyway at lower levels) they gave us the only non weapon epic weapon.
RE: no damge

this is a hands item, not primary or secondary weapon item.
RE: no damge
# Oct 20 2004 at 6:14 PM Rating: Default
In a way it does do its own damage, it makes the ratio of your hands much better. Something like 9/16 i believe. Which isnt bad for not counting any haste, and is weaponless =)
haste?
# Jun 23 2004 at 4:35 PM Rating: Default
What kind of haste is the monk epic considered to be? Is it equivalent to spell haste ?(thus the haste component of the monk epic buff would not stack with an enchanter haste spell) Or is it considered an item hsate? (thus monks wouldnt need a haste item such as cof since cof and epic haste wouldnt stack)
RE: haste?
# Jul 07 2004 at 2:16 PM Rating: Default
celestial tranquility counts as a song, so it does stack with item haste but not with spell haste

Ornate or Epic? hhmmm
# Apr 11 2004 at 9:03 AM Rating: Decent
uumm hey guys, has anyone noticed the monk ornate gauntlets has the same exact effect and comparable stats? I think im going to quit my epic and let someone else have the targin and raster MQs, you need them and your on tholuxe send a tell to Neostas or Rilion. And YES owning this and clicking the song will add dmg, if you take a look at the effect it raises AC, ATK, AND gives you the 41% haste
RE: Ornate or Epic? hhmmm
# Apr 16 2004 at 3:16 PM Rating: Default
Comparable stats?? What are you smoking buddy?? Where I come from a difference of 12 strength, 3 dex, 5 atamina, 10 agility, 7 vs magic, 10 vs fire, 4 vs cold, 10 vs disease, 4 vs poison, and 50 hit points is no where near comparable.

Most people I know haven't even been able to START their epics until 50 (npc's tell them they aren't ready or won't talk to them at all)...is the Monk epic different than others or did they limit the starting level on epics at some point and you started yours before then?

# Jun 17 2004 at 2:11 PM Rating: Decent
I started my monk epic as soon as I was strong enough to fight the early mobs to get the headband and sash, probably around level 10 or so. I'm at 48 now and just got Raster and turned that stuff in to Brother Zephyl in Rathe Mountains. I think the only limit set is whether you can handle it alone or not. I've done all mine solo so far. Probably won't last too long though. The Targin camp will be very hard to solo I think.
Damage Delay
# Jan 29 2004 at 11:59 AM Rating: Decent
So do the fists still lower your dam/delay to 9/16 or was that nerfed out?
RE: Damage Delay
# Mar 23 2004 at 10:14 AM Rating: Decent
If you are using your fists by the time you get this, man go on a raid and get yourself some gear. I use knotted knuckles in my secondary, very easy to get, find a few people willing to lend a hand, go to Umbral Plains and kill the Spirit. They common drop.
Hotbutton :/
# Jan 20 2004 at 4:03 PM Rating: Decent
I spent about 3 hours camping Pawbuster and 1 hour on a raid in Chardok.
got the RotLC chained, and i have not yet got epic but am very close :)

Would like to know how to put the epic and Flying kick into one hotbutton i dont really get the ones that have been posted so i kinda need a simple one that is easy for ANYONE to understand if anyone could do it example: doability(sp?)1 with pause etc.
RE: Hotbutton :/
# Feb 26 2004 at 5:04 PM Rating: Decent
You can't use a command to trigger a clicky item, unfortunately.

The way to link the two is to set up each as its own hotkey - kick for one, the robe (or epic) on another. Once they are both set up, enter your keyboard layout under the option bar and set up the same alternate key (I use tilde (~) since I prefer F8 for targetting) for both hotkeys. When you hit that alternate key, both hotkeys should be activated. The biggest problem with this is if you change hotkey banks, hitting that alternate key will activate the two hotkey positions you have it assigned to in the other bank as well. You can set up your robe/kick in all of your banks in the same slots to avoid the problem, or be sure to be in your combat hotkey bank when you hit the alternate key. If you reassign primary keys (you could activate two keys by assigning them both to the number 2, for example), you can't individually trigger either without using the mouse. I left default alone, and changed the alternate instead (adding a new key instead of changing an old one).

I've had issues setting it up as hotkey 1 and hotkey 2, but any other combination seems to work fine. I have FD on hotkey 1, kick on 2, and the robe on 3. Tilde is an alternate key for 2 and 3, and triggers both when pressed.

Your hotkeys are numbered under the default UI, in case you need to know the specific numbers.

I hope this helps.
RE: Hotbutton :/
# Apr 08 2004 at 9:54 AM Rating: Default
You should also beware that this will affect other characters as well. Mapping your keyboard is a universal change, so if you have your tilde(or whatever) key set to activate your first and second hotkeys for instance, make sure you don't hit it on accident while playing your Shadowknight and accidentally Harm Touch your guildmaster.

Back when I was a newb, someone told me about the easy way to raise your Sense Heading skill (yes, back when you actually had to work on it) by setting one of your motion keys to trigger the first hotkey, where your Sense Heading was. Well, after playing that character for a bit, I switched over to my SK, and yes, you guessed it... stepped up to the banker I'd been camped near, and Harm Touched him. Needless to say, he didn't enjoy it that much, and I got to go for a nice jog in the cool morning breeze.
you sure?
# Jan 20 2004 at 1:47 PM Rating: Default
you sure? though its a short duration buff, it doesnt go to the SD window (song) besides that it just may stack anyways....just how shaman's haste stacks with chanter haste.

so are you saying the eyepatch stacks with the epic? are you 100% sure? all i know is that i have eyepatch on my beastlord and it counts as shammy type haste, so it still stacks with enchanter haste.

i'm not too sure on all of this, but if it does stack with eyepatch, time to camp stormfeather :P

Selo`s doesn't go in the song buff window either. It goes in the spell effect window, but i am fairly certain that Selo`s is a song.

There are multiple versions of Selo's. Most are short duration (3 ticks) and go in the song window. Selo's Accelerating Chorus has a 2.5 minute duration, and, as such, goes in the regular buff window instead of the song window.

stacking haste
# Dec 01 2003 at 5:35 PM Rating: Default
monk epic counts as song haste so both item haste and spell haste will stack with it. Monks can be self hasted 100%. Just get epic and eyepatch of plunder and get a 40% haste item lots of nodrop ones to be gotten.
RE: stacking haste
# Feb 06 2004 at 10:30 AM Rating: Decent
Not all songs with a haste component stack their hastes. There are only a few songs that specifically provide "over haste". The effect on this epic will not stack it's haste component with any spell or song except the Ervaj songs, Call of the Muse, Rizlona's and the Vah Shir songs.

Haste on Eyepatch will not stack it's haste with this item. Best self hast a monk can have (non disc) is 41% from item and 40% from this effect = 81%.
RE: stacking haste
# Feb 08 2004 at 11:36 PM Rating: Decent
Actually the max ive seen is 86% w/ Shroud of Survival and epic
RE: stacking haste
# Nov 12 2004 at 3:28 PM Rating: Default
Well now, this may not be correct, so somebody either back me up on this or shoot me down, but I believe there's a haste cap of 75% unless you have certain bard songs on you which increase that cap up to 100%. Not sure about this however.
Stacking
# Nov 08 2003 at 3:47 PM Rating: Excellent
Haste stacking works like this: you get ONE item haste, whether it be a FBSS, SCHW, Clawed Coat of Tyro, or whatever. If you have more than one haste item, you get the better of the two. If it says "worn" next to the Haste effect, it's item haste. Then you get ONE spell haste, be it a triggered effect (like the monk epic), or VoG, SLtW, some bard songs. If it has a buff icon, it's considered spell haste, and, again, if you have more than one (like Dance of the Blade and VoG), you get the better of the two. Beyond this, bards are the ONLY class that can increase your haste. Some of the bard haste songs not only stack with what's listed above, but actually allow you to go over the normal haste cap. Warsong of the Vah Shir, Battlecry, Rizlona's Call of Flame and Call of the Muse are all over-the-cap haste songs. The haste from other bard songs does not stack with shaman/enchanter haste (since it counts as spell haste).

Im not 100% sure about it but i think it does not stack with the eyepatch. It stacks with shaman buff swift of the wind. It does not stack with chanter's haste Vallon's.
how to hotkey?
# Oct 31 2003 at 10:06 PM Rating: Decent
The advice given above is to hot key the right click effect with the kick. I know how to invoke skills in a hotkey, as in

/pause 3,/doability 7 (flying kick)
/doabiltiy 5 (disarm)

and so on ... what would be the command in a hotkey for invoking a right-click on an item like the epic gloves?

To make a hotkey for your Monk epic (or any clicky) Open your inventory, find your clicky item, left click and hold the mouse button until the item (and it's slot) appear on your curser. Then just drop it into an open Hot Button slot and you can program it for a Hotkey just like you can any other Hot Button (using Doability and the slot number the item is in)....
RE: how to hotkey?
# Jun 09 2005 at 9:43 AM Rating: Default
It's not quite that easy. /doab is for the ability window that gets brought up with ctrl+s I believe, the 6 slots you can set your skills into and then hotkey into your macro window. You usually have to macro the ability into the hotkey window and then set an alternate key for that hotkey number. Another explanation is above this but to reiterate you set ability X to # (whatever hotkey number) and then set macro the item into another hotkey slot on the same macro page. Once that's done you go into the options menu and remap the number for the clicky item so it has an alternate key of # (the hotkey number you have for your ability.) It will show up red before you already have it used for another key but once you press the number it should activate both.

Ex. Flying kick is set to 4, you put Celestial Fists in 3. Set the button that you press to activate hotkey three to have an alternate button of 4. Now when you press 4 it will activate flying kick and activate the Celestial Fists. It's good to set it to flying kick because then you won't be spamming your spell window.

Good luck.

So, someone explain just how this epic works. i see that is haste, but is it clicked or is it worn? Also, is this a haste that stacks with other item haste such as a CoF, with chanter haste, and with the lvl51+ bard stackable haste songs?

This is a click haste, lasts 9 secs, hot key it in with flying kick. Will stack with worn haste, spell haste, and the Vah Shir bard haste songs: Battlecry of the Vah Shir and Warsong of the Vah Shir.

Do you need to keep primary and secondary slots empty to use
# Jun 17 2003 at 8:03 PM Rating: Decent
I understand that if a monk wearing the epic gloves weilds weapons in his primary and secnondary slots, he will get the damage/delay of the weapons he is holding and not the damage/delay of the epic gloves.

What I want to know is can he equip non-weapon items in his primary and secondary slots (i.e. hand held items, shields, etc.) and still use the epic gloves as hand to hand weapons?

If not, that kinda sucks. It means a monk is basically losing two inventory slots on his char if he uses these. So he loses the benefit of the stats he could get from items/weapons in his primary and secondary slots.
RE: Do you need to keep primary and secondary slots empty to
# Jun 25 2003 at 4:37 PM Rating: Default
The epic isnt a weapon. It provides haste no matter what you are wielding. If you have no weapons in you are using your fists and you have the damage/delay of your fists whatever it is for your level and then the effect adds haste to that. So if you wield weapons you get the weapons and the epic adds haste to the delay of the weapons you are holding. So no it doesnt suck. . .
RE: Do you need to keep primary and secondary slots empty to
# Jun 25 2003 at 4:39 PM Rating: Default
If you notice again its not a primay or secondary slot item - it's a HANDS slot item. like gloves.

I think people should only answer if they know what they are talking about, thats not the case here. Celestial fists work this way:
If you put your fists in your hands slot then your hands will turn to 9/16 dmg/dly. So i think the question you should ask yourself is can you use your fists while wielding a non-damage weapon? Off course not. I agree it does suck to have to leave slots open for it to work, nowdays the 16/9 isn't that impressive though so just wield 2 weapons and enjoy the nice epic hand slot item.
Just a question, Housemusic why do you answer a post when you have no clue of what he is talking about?
RE: Do you need to keep primary and secondary slots empty to
# Jul 16 2003 at 11:54 AM Rating: Decent
This is not a weapon. Nobody was saying that you should only use your fists with the epic. That's not how it works. Read above. What HouseMusic was saying is that it doesn't affect your fists ratio EXCEPT by way of the haste portion of the effect, since these are gloves and not H2H weapons. If you have the Whistling Fists https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=10340, a H2H weapon, then you would more than likely go H2H with at least one fist. He knew what he was saying: The "gloves" do not require you to use your fists! Go ahead and wield two weapons if you like.

That's exactly how they work.
Quote:

That's exactly where HouseMusic is wrong.

Well since it's not clear enough here comes:
Celestial Fists alters your bare hand dmg/dly.
I might be wrong but your bare fists are 14/30 at level 53. If you put the celestial fists in your hand slot, your bare hand damage will not be 14/30 anymore. They will be 9/16. This is not due to any haste effect of any kind.
RE: Do you need to keep primary and secondary slots empty to
# Aug 21 2003 at 10:58 AM Rating: Default
Well you are wrong, Grasseau. The Celestial Fists effect work on whatever form of attack you wish to use, be it H2H or weapons. It does nothing to the dmg rating of your fists. The haste effects the delay on H2H AND weapons. The effect is basically a buff.
RE: Do you need to keep primary and secondary slots empty to
# Aug 23 2003 at 6:11 AM Rating: Excellent
I think you missunderstood, I haven't commented on the effect, I know the effect works on whatever weapon you wield. It's the item itself that alters the ratio on your bare hand fists.
Check this webpage, it's all there:

Thanks for understanding my question Grasseau!

That stinks, but you make a good point, by the time I am high enough to get the epic, I'll probably have weapons with a better ratio.

RE: Do you need to keep primary and secondary slots empty to
# Nov 13 2003 at 2:22 AM Rating: Decent
You may have better ratio weapons by that time but the effect of Celestial trainquility is great. 40% haste,40 attack, and 12 AC. put that on top of your "better weapons" and you got something good. Also the stats on the epic are great, not going to find a much better hand slot item for a monk.
