Good Weapon
# Mar 25 2002 at 3:52 AM Rating: Decent
i have buy this from a war in ec tunnel that has now his epic. he gave me the sword for 500pp :) so i use this baby as second and first i use CLS.

i switched several times both swords and must say that this baby works better when u have it in second hand. i have to say that real war dont use wurmy. for the money u pay for it u can get better like this or CLS. :)

There's a post under Crypt Spectre that says this sword is its ultra-rare drop. I have no idea if it's true myself.
Bet the price is changing fast
# Jan 04 2002 at 2:26 AM Rating: Decent

I bet the bottom falls out of the price on this one, like lots of 1-hand slash weapons, with Luclin's debut.

The Centi Longsword is better in every way, 14/27 8str 8sta either hand non-lore, and there's always 5 people trying to sell them in EC for 1.5K on Brell.

Seems like all the Maiden's drops are going to drastically affect weapon prices. Dunno if that's good for the game, strange to see Verant taking this tack. If a Level 30 guy can afford a Centi or two, he's got no reason to quest or hunt for anything he can get on his own. And he'll be 50+, like everyone else, all the sooner. and the Centi is just so-so as Luclin weps go.

Not to say I don't like wielding a pair of such weapons :) but they seem to have a possibly-negative effect on gameplay as a whole...Verant has been very careful about such things in the past, and lately they seem to have gotten a wild hair. Halloween, Project M, overturning the entire weapon heirarchy...what's next?

Maybe they just want to get more of us to stay tuned. But they've whipped themselves into a self-destructive, burning-the-candle-at-both-ends frenzy to achieve that aim. Most of their changes may have short-term benefit to subscribership but hurt the game in the (not-so) long term.

Man, people, no offense, but shut up! Hey, i admit I like a good b****ing match myself, but this post area is for the JLS, and everyone is talking about the Wurmy and Lammy. All I want to know is who drops this thing? Does it seriously drop at 42? This seems kind of a valuble weapon to drop at 42! maybe I am wrong, but often these levels are very off. Who drops it, how often, where, etc. If you have info, please help. Regardless of what others say, I would like one of these and a Wurmy. Thanks.

wurmslayer rocks
# Aug 15 2001 at 2:19 PM Rating: Default
Man all you guys out there saying wurmslayer is **** and lammy is best... man do you not know when to shut up? Most people out there are not super ultra twinks like you wussies and at level 25 them people are very happy to have a wurmslayer. Man unless you do like i did, which is spending nearly 1 RL year of buying cheap selling igh to get a LOT of money, you probably cant afford a wurmslayer before level 25. The wurmslayer was first made for people over level 46 who could do the quest. Which means that it is a good weapon for a level 46. I'm sorry but everyone flaming the wurmslayer saying that lammy is better, consider that people around level -mid 20s-mid 30s- dont have the level nor the money to buy twin lamentations. Man what a bunch of numbskulls you are. BTW twinking is everything but bad. Man i mean, your level 1 m=monk didnt get the robe of living fungus by himself. SO WHAT?! he has it anyway and even if you went to get it with your level 60 character whats the friggin problem with giving it to your other character? Its the PLAYER who earned it so the PLAYER can give it to who he wants man, stop flaming twinking. TWINKING ROCKS! Makes you feel powerful when you are level 20 and you can solo level 25 mobs with yer twin lammies and fungi.

Well, the problem with Wurmslayer, from a warrior perspective, is it's too slow to taunt. If you have 2 warriors, both the same level, both start swinging at the same time. One is using a lammy in in the primary the other is using a Wurmslayer, the first swing the wurmslayer will have agro. The second swing the Lammy will take over agro because the wurmslayer will still be cycling thru, the third swing, still the lammy. Finally when the wurmslayer cycles thru, depending where the wurmslayer weilding warrior is on the hate list, (not taking taunt into account) he will be at the bottom list. So, that is why a Lammy is better than a wurmslayer. As a warrior you're not there for dealing damage, your job is to take the damage.

Taunt basically puts you on the top of the hate list for that round until someone out damages and moves up. If you're using a faster weapon you will be holding your position as the #1 hated guy in the group, for the most part.. sometimes you get those over casting wizards who try to kill the mob in one blow =)

So, basically, that's why I've never wanted nor will I ever use a Wurmslayer.

#Anonymous, Posted: Aug 22 2001 at 5:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) what i do not get is a warrior gets all these melee things and EVERYONE AND THERE DOG SAYS "warriors suck at melee they are there to take the tuant and get killed and die for the group and take dmg and...." i say **** that stand up for yourself i am a lvl 40 tank and i out dmg alot of ******* people my lvl and i use a glowing velium battle axe for crying out loud (i also am useing an fbss) but for hell sack shut up already if some warrior wants to be difrent more power to him i say becouse it is not the charecter it is the player. other than that kiss my *** and good luck trying to convince me other wise.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 03 2001 at 11:18 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) How tha **** is a war with a wurmy considered being different? It's basically a matter of status. On Bristlebane, many lower level wars either go with two yaks. wurmy+yak, wurmy+ any other cheap weapon they can get, sword of skyfire and either a heavy hitter or something with stats....you still have alot of stat freaks. This general population of characters aren't the ones who sit in ec all day. Those who do will have lammies or the higher end type of weapons. The other person is right about taunt too. Faster weapons give more taunt. Think too about the recycle time on the wurmy compared to other weapons for tanks....primarily warriors. If you MISS with the wurmy, that is a big recycle time. If you MISS with a faster weapon, it will not be so evident. Think too when you use copelands weapon analyzer and such that the average dmg isn't always going to be that ungodly high number. I've grouped with many other warriors who use the wurmy, and let me tell you a bit here....I've seen many large races use the wurmy and higher dmg and slower dly weapons such as this jagged long sword, whip of ensnaring, or a shimmering partisan. In a melee round, they might have 2-3 double attacks that give full dmg. Other melee rounds they either miss, hit for around 35ish, or just hit once and no double. For a large race, you would think that person should keep the aggro to be easy on the healer, in this case if cleric... the complete heal should go to the big guy who -shoulda- been keeping taunt.
RE: wurmslayer rocks
# Aug 27 2001 at 7:09 AM Rating: Default
hmm, go for it man. Not saying you can't, just saying damage out put isn't where a Warrior excels. If you want to be melee and deal damage, play a monk or rogue they easly out damage warriors, even the ones using Wurmslayers, but they stand a chance to take the beating you can and will/should be taking.

At level 40 your soloing days are just about over if not, they've been over for at least 5 levels now. Once you hit 50 you better look at what's going to benifit the group or raid the most. What most other classes want is a warrior that will take the hits. In order for you to take the hits (and keep the mobs hitting you) is to build up hate, the slower the weapon the lower you'll be on the hate list, the lower on the hate list the more the shaman or enchanter or rogue is getting beat on. The more they're getting beat on the more your group is going to be asking "Are you taunting???" Finally, once the chanter dies all hell will break lose and the whole group dies or evacs, assuming the druid wasn't getting beat on because they're snare put them higer on the hate list than you.

I agree with you. I think it would be great if I could do more damage, unfortunately to be usefull to a group or raid, your crits for 180 points don't help them much, you hitting quickly to keep the mob on you is what they want. So, because I like getting exp and I like grouping with people and I like going on raids I do what I have to so I can benifit the group.

off hand
# Jul 04 2001 at 6:25 AM Rating: Decent
this wepon isn't very good for your prime hand but it makes a real good secondary wepon, and it makes it even better if you have haste items, which most people do at 35 + is a great combo with a lammy in main hand
RE: off hand
# Aug 09 2001 at 7:20 PM Rating: Default
Actually most TWINKS have a haste item as soon as they are 6th. Most players who are playing their primary still won't have one by the time they are 35 as you claim.

Everyone has a style of thier own, but I'd like to share what weapon combo I use, and have had some success with. I am a 50 ogre warrior, and I currently use:

Bloodpoint in main hand
10/21 +5 str, -5 cha, +10 poison, +10 disease and 80 hp lifetap proc.
I was debating whether to use a lamentation in main hand, due to its speed advantage (9/19) but I figured the damage was better on the bloodpoint, and the delay was very similar. Plus the bloodpoint's proc can be very useful, and adds (somewhat) to my taunting ability.

Skyfury Scimitar in offhand
13/23 +8 wis, +35 mana, +7 cold, +7 magic
This provides one of the best off-hand damage of any weapon I know of (pre-epic, pre-VP). And yet its fast enough to generate good taunt.

Just a note about my weapon combo. Both of these weapons LOOK STUPID!! If you are after looks, go for duel lamentations! My goal was to go for a balance of taunt ability, and damage, not looks.
its good :)

If you are not primary tank all that matters are dam/del... this wep sure is worth having in your backpack. I goes without saying that its a good wep for sec hand not primary...

Best offhand weapon for a warrior outside of Sleepers/ToV. Of course epic would replace it.

LOL, you act as if WS is the best weapon in the game. WS is slow as dirt, so is this one. The only worthwhile use for this weapon is to put it off hand, otherwise a faster dam/delay wep in primary will tear this thing up.
People who think WS is a good sword
# May 22 2001 at 9:21 PM Rating: Decent
If you think WS is a good sword, you really need to know what your talking about. For ANY class that can dual weid, it totally messes it up. The purpose of dual weild is to have a fast/slightly lower damage in primay hand to taunt and deal damage fast, and have a slightly slower/higher damage weapon in offhand. using WS if your a war/ranger/rog (whatever damn classes can use it) is just like sayimg "I'm a dumb newb" and dont' give this dumb ***** about how "its the best i can afford" get two CoT's and you'll do mroe damage and get better taunt. I hope this makes smoe dummys know how to use dual weild better =P

and if you think the Wurmslayer is a "Sword", you need to know what your talking about...have you noticed, it has no handle...and looks nothing like a sword, now whos the moron! ahahahahaha!
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 14 2001 at 2:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Exactly how far up your @$$ is your head anyway? CoT's are about the least effective weapons a warrior can have. The WS dmg/dly ratio is WAY higher, therefore more damage. What are you some 10th level peon begging for change? Unless you use the exact weapons that I say are good then you shouldn't even play this game cause I am a L33T player who plays 14 hours a day and I know everything about this game there is to know.
