Arggh! These are a very rare forage. My baby druid, Level 14, Forage skill of 65, found one on the pier at the Wayfarer's Camp in Natimbi while on a fishing trip. And yes... she can get to Natimbi all by her little self. The tricky part is getting from the Jaggedpine zone to the Wayfarer's Camp in Nedaria's Landing without out being eaten by the griffons.
I just got GoD the other day (a little behind I know) and found this quest here on Alla. I decided to head over to Natimbi and attempt to pick this piece up. I pulled the reef crustacean's behind the tents of the camp and fear kited them there. After two crustacean's I got my Gland. 2 hours of foraging later and I had my three shells. Quickly went to npc in Abysmal Sea and got my necklace. You have to be careful fear kiting these guys, especially around my lvl. I got smacked around pretty hard from time to time when fear wore off. Just had to get timing down on them well and if I wasn't sure, just backed off until it expired and then popped them with another. Just be careful not to get an add. That's a death waiting to happen. While trying to forage I was able to DoT Kite a named reef crustacean and got a Calloused Shell Helm to drop. Not bad for 2 hours worth of work. Good luck to all looking to get this piece.
Same here, moved my lower level druid there, was trained with Noc's, not even ooc'd or called, just people thinking they're the only ones in hte zone again. -sighs-
Sadly the area by the Wayfarer's camp is always being trained. The best way around it is either to run as far to the north as possible (behind you as you zone in) and hide in the corner, or just keep invising :)
Another classic moron tactic is to root/DoT things right in the middle of the camp, so that the mobs hit you as soon as you load. At lower levels this can kill you before you even know what's happening.
Public request: Please consider other people and do not root things in the middle of Wayfarer's camps.

Hate to say it good raced ppl careless & evil care nore.
Managed to forage 6 of these up almost in a row on the beach just below the magus to the zone, I wasn't even sure what they were for since I was a 32 druid hanging out for a bit while I try to get some tea ingredients. /guild to a mate of mine about it, and they jumped on it. Now we're both sporting them, and with a nice aug in it, it's pretty damn nice for now. =) I had an easier time foraging these then some of the tea ingredents :p
When i am in a zone where i want fish and forage items, i use a forage/fish hot key. just set up a social key with the following: /autoinventory /do5 /do6 /autoinventory The <do 5/6> commands are what activates your action keys. autoinventory puts the fished/forage items in your packs. I have plans in the works to do an automatic mouse button, using a relay and a small timer to regularly click the mouse button. setting up in a safe zone with good forage/fish objects would yeild results, without having to sit there forever at the keyboard. only your character would.
He is not violating the the EULO since he is using the simple tools sony provides to its players. Now if he was running a Macro program where he could leave his character in the zone while he went to work and have it fish and forage then he would be breaking the rules. Many unrully players have used such programs to do tradeskilling while they are away from the computer. Using suck tools will get you banned if you are caught. I for one had my forage ability connected to turning left. Whenever I turned left and forage was ready I would do the ability and automatically place the item into my inventory.
The clicker is not tough, using parts from any Radio shack for a few buck. besides, I have a friend who uses her kids to do the automated fishing. park character and then let htem hit mouse key and inventory. This clicker would not speed up any process, but would just click every so often. useful for fishing, languages, foraging, or any other skill where you click and sit
Check the Livcensing agreement when you log in...it does not say anything about Hardware modifications, just SOFTware. Sony can't stop what you do to your home computer....just to the software they LET us (for a small fee) use.
I have ben fishing here as a 52 ranger and have gone from 26 fishing to 180. My forage button is right next to my fishng button so Ive been puling up all kinds of meats that sell for play too.
I must of foraged 25 of these things in 2 days, and I always destroyed them because they were no drop. I didnt realize you got this kick *** uber necklace from 3 measly shells and some glands. Oh well, going fishing again tonight so I should be able to get it.
One person with Reef Crustacean Gland, which anybody can get by killing the Reef Crustaceans, and the other person with foraged Broken Shore Shells. Person getting the item does their turn in a couple seconds AFTER first person turns in the other parts. Last turn in person gets item.
As of a couple years ago, the timer was found to be about 4 hours that the NPC would hold the item for MQ. I am not sure if they have changed this, however.
Might as well go to a casino because your luck of foraging the shells are like playing slots. I foraged them in natimbi for days and then all of a sudden on the last night I got all three. They seemed to come from the camp site sand "where everyone fishes". Hope that helps. Maybe they fixed a bug.. not sure Joshiekins 61 druid Killitintheface love my mammma wiccaan
I look at this item and though hmm it's all/all so I looked up the quest. Then I notice you have to forage nodrop parts for it... Anyone know if this item is MQ able?
Note that alot of foraged items, and specially those that are no drop, can be looted off mobs in same zone. For instance you can fing Gukta water on shore mobs in gulf of Gunthak, or plant shoots on potameids in Jaggedpine Forrest. So, MQ's are still unofficials and still unsupported.
They aren't forcing you to MQ, but instead to spend time killing a lot of mobs for an extremely rare drop that is probably easier foraged. And if your taking the time to do that, you are probably soloing, which means it's probably no xp for most non foragers.
I have to admit. It is easier to forrage the items. I spent only about 45 minutes to an hour in Namtimbi (SP) and forraged 2 of the shells. 1 more and to kill some Crusty's and I'll have this.
I disagree with all this. As a ranger working on my epic, i've foraged my share of rares. My forage skill is 200. This is easily the most rare forage I've picked up yet, as in the hours and hours I've been here I've only gotten two so far.
Having said that, there's no proof yet that any mobs drop the shells. Since this item is equipable by all races/classes, and not just forraging ones... it leads me to believe that there is a conflict between the not supporting MQ policy and what's actually implemented in the game. This is gunna be MQ'd like wild. If i get extra shells... I doubt I'll have any trouble making some decent cash selling the MQ.
