14 Mantle's
1 Cobalt Gauntlet

This does not include all the hrs there b4... in all I've never seen a dagger, never seen a Mace, Gaunts 2x and Mantle every time other.

only if you can use 1hs, in the case of a cleric this thing would rock.

now pleas don't spam, i know a cleric doesn't need to be able to pound out the damage but it is sort of a reasurance to be able to put a spank on the mob that decides that your healing of your party members is bad.

oh well it is your choice, and remember THE POWER IS YOURS!!!!

hehe

Um.. no. When a mob decides that it doesn't like a cleric, the LAST thing the cleric should do is swing a weapon. STAND AND LET THE TANK DO HIS JOB... that's it. The best class for this weapon, in the current SoL envoirnment, is a monk. It's a bit on the heavy side, but there's much better equipment available under most circumstances for all other melee classes.

off-hand or primary?
# Sep 24 2001 at 6:11 PM Rating: Excellent
I'm currently using a Jade Mace 9/18 in primary, with a Lamentation 9/19 in secondary. Was told today that I *may* get better results with the Mace off-hand. Anyone wanna back this up, or reject it?
RE: off-hand or primary?
# Dec 31 2001 at 9:17 PM Rating: Excellent
OK, so here is some info that the previous posts left out. Think of dual weild as a proc. You swing delay 18 weapon, successful DW, delay 19 weapon swings. 1.8 seconds go by swing delay 18 weapon again, successful DW, delay 19 weapon not ready so it doesn't swing. If you crunch the numbers haveing the lower delay weapon in the off hand works out to better damage over time, but always try to keep them close to the same or it's a waste of a slower weapon.

So here is the example with the weapons talked about here, Lamentation and Jade Mace. With the Lammy in primary and JM in off hand you get a 9/19 and a 7/19. with the JM primary and the Lammy off hand you get 7/18 and a 9/36. The lammy is only ready every other time, if DW procs every single.... Anyway I think you get it now, or you might never. Check out http://www.monkly-business.com/articles2.asp?ArticleNum=66 for a more detailed look at damage.

It sounds like a nice theory unfortunately it's totally wrong. Throw a lightstone in primary and your secondary will still swing independently of your primary. Low delay weapon in main high delay in offhand

# Apr 14 2002 at 11:01 PM Rating: Default
No, his "theory" is right. I've tried all sorts of weapon combos and have yet to see the secondary go off if the primary isn't triggering. Yes, you can swing your off hand with no weapon in the primary, but if you equip a primary you never swing the secondary out of turn. I don't know how it's supposed to work, but that's how it's been working for me the whole time.

However, If you put a 20DLY weapon in your primary and a 40DLY weapon in your offhand, it works out nicely and you aren't wasting any DLY points.

Acctually, I was wrong. Or they changed it. Either way, it appears that offhand swings independantly. It was a bloody nice theroy though.......

Ok here i go, Watching a person duel Lammys is a joke. You get a Damage Bonus on your main hand ever time you swing, so you get a really good main hand with low delay and hope for highest damage possible, 9/19 (lamentation). A lammy is great for your main even though its not 2.0 ratio like a Crystalized Short Sword (CSS) your acctually doing more damage per second with the lammy. becouse you get the damage bonus ever swing and you just aced a few off your delay and got in a few more hits in the fight. Now your off hand is another story, no damage bonus so speed is really not an issue, now if it was 50/100 you would be in bad shape becouse if you get more chances to miss, but with the whole damage bonus thing it might be worth it. Getting off subject, back to offhand stick with a good ratio 12/24 24/48 33/62, just make sure the damage is atleast half the delay, For the guy who was told put the mace in your off hand yah that would be best if your stuck with both weapons or you could do the smart thing, sell that lammy and get a better ratio for your offhand and do way more damage. Just my lots of CPs

Arguements about damage delay are numerous. One thing we know for sure is if the secondary weapon has not recycled in the time it takes for your primary weapon to cycle you get no chance of a offhand attack in that case. Therefore, what good is a low delay primary weapon if your secondary weapon is half as fast? Fact is your are going to do much less damage if you configure yourself that way. With a 40% or better chance of your off hand weapon attacking each cycle then after your first stike, up to 50% or more of your off hand attacks will fail automatically..now that won't hurt your mob much ehh? Here's the scenario:

Primary hand: Jade Mace: 9 dam 18 delay
Off Hand: Ringed mace of the ykesha 10dam 22delay
Seems like a fast combo to ehh? ..lets see what the POTENTIAL IS...

1st Attack Jade mace hits and Ykesha hit
2nd attack Jade mace hits Ykesha hasnt cycled yet so misses
3rd Attack Jade mace hits and Ykesha Hits
4th Attack Jade Mace hits and Ykesha hasnt cycled yet so misses again

..so every second chance to cycle the Ykesha mace will automatically miss!

The above assumes that the weapons hit everytime and actually only represent when the weapon is available to cycle. Off course if you miss..then you get no chance for damage and no chance for an offhand strike so that can alter things somewhat. As you can see the above combo means that the Ykesha even though a fast weapon will miss the opportunity to cycle very frequently due to the very low delay of the jade mace..now lets reverse the positions, Ykesha in Primary and Jade mace in secondary....

1st attack Ykesha Hits and Jade mace hits
2nd Attack Ykesha hits and Jade Mace hits
3rd Attack Ykesha hits and Jade Mace hits
4th Attack Ykesha hits and Jade Mace hits
etc
etc
etc

....the Jade Mace will ALWAYS be availabel to cycle on the chance of an off hand secondary strike....

With the Slower weapon in the primary hand, EVERYTIME there is chance for a secondary strike the weapon will be available since it's delay is faster than the primary weeapons. One could conclude that the best combo is two weapons of equal delay and the maximum damage potential and least weight possible(due to fatigue factor).

If you want to optimize the offhand weapon attack it should generally be the faster of the two weapons in the case where you have two weapons of differing speeds. In the case of the two weapons mentioned..the 4 point slower delay on the Ykesha should make little difference and the person will be plowing some serous damage and taunt potential..this model will not hold if your slower weapon is more then 40% or so slower than your offhand, In that case I would argue that it would be better to put a slightly weaker, but faster weapon in your offhand. High damage high delay wepaoons are (IMHO) for classes that cannot dual wield.

Just spend the time and get two Jade Maces ;)

Some urban legends are hard to kill. After much debate and log passing the good people at the safehouse has put the following in the Rogue FAQ:

---

2.9 What is dual wield? How can I use it?
Dual wield allows you to equip a second melee weapon in your other hand. The first training point will boost the skill to 16 (or 15, unconfirmed), and successive points will aid in speeding up skill advancement. The level bonus present in damage over level 25 only occurs on attacks performed with your primary weapon.

2.9.1 Does weapon speed on the dual wielded weapon affect primary weapon attack speed or dual wield rate?

The delay of your primary weapon does not factor into your dual wield chances. Every time your secondary weapon would swing due to its delay, you will automatically check versus your dual wield skill. A success will activate dual wield and you will swing your secondary hand. Consequently, equipping a fast weapon in your secondary hand will lead to more checks versus your dual wield skill.

---

It all depends on your job in the group. Galadril made an excellent post that details nicely the differences in the two combos. So which one is best for you? Well if you are a warrior and are going to be doing MT duties for your group, then you are going to want to use two FAST one-handers to generate the most aggro possible. Aggro is generated from the damage you do (or the damage you take away) and from what high-level tanks refer to as 'touches'. If you hit three times for ten, for example, you have generated much more aggro than someone who has hit once for 30. While you are not doing as much damage, you have to realize that warriors are not damage dealers, they are meat shields that are supposed to keep aggro so others in your group can do the damage! I know I'm going to get flamed for this statement from some idiot level ten warrior who's friend gave them jade maces who does insane damage at that level, thinking that warriors the damage dealing masters. My advice is to get to level 50 and go toe-to-toe with a rogue, monk, ranger, magician, necro, shaman, wizard against a MoB. If you can hold aggro I assure you that you will not be taking the experience for the kill. Am I saying that warriors are pussies that don't do any damage? No, that's not what I'm saying at all, I'm just putting you into perspective. Sure you don't put out the damage that rogue does, but let's see them put out any damage if you don't keep aggro! It's not about which class is better than the other overall, it's about what your class does the best and how you can use that to compliment what the others in the group can do the best! (unless you are grouped with a ranger, who is the best at foraging and that's about it). However if you are a secondary tank, by all means go for all out damage like the 28/30 twohander weapon! Survey the situation at hand and make your weapon choices accordingly. Hope that helps answer your question in a round-about way :)
RE: question

Hate to respond to anything this idiotic, but with that "scholor" thing over your head, you just might convince somebody you know what you're talking about.

The problem comment is this:
(unless you are grouped with a ranger, who is the best at foraging and that's about it)

You just don't get it, do you? Rangers are jacks of all trades, AND have some damn important skills.

As a Ranger, I control aggro. The mob hits who I tell it to hit. Usually it isn't me, because Rangers have low hp, but its hitting the MT because I tell it to (using jolt, stop hitting for a sec, etc..). Without me telling the mob to hit the tank, theres no way that tank could hold aggro off me. But when that tank is almost dead, and your butt is yelling OOM, I get the aggro the split second I want it. And while I'm not a tank, I can take a few hits. Is there a mob on a caster or cleric? Rangers job is to pull him off, and they do it well. Zing the mob with a snare/taunt/dot/whack upside the head, and he isn't going anywhere till I jolt its ugly butt.

Damage? A well equipped skilled ranger will do more damage than a warrior/monk/rogue in a head to head fight, don't be fooled that he's just hitting in the 50's while the rogue/monk/warrior occasionally give big numbers. The Ranger is doing those 50pt hits FAST..not to mention the fast dots and small DD's..

Crowd control? How often have you seen a ranger park a mob? Snare a runner about to cause a train? Lets see a rogue/monk/warrior do that..

Track? Guess what? We do it better than anybody, and we don't even charge for it, like clerics do for rezzes, wizzy's/druids for ports..

Pulling? Get a ranger in an outdoor zone with a good bow, Harmony, root, and snare, and he'll be able to find the mob, control that mob better than any falling down monk, AND be able to track the mob back to where the party is without getting lost. Hell, the mob may even be half dead by the time a good ranger gets it back to the party.

Buffs? Trust me, your little cleric butt is doing a lot less work when the Ranger keeps the tank buffed with AGI and Attk buffs, and he might just let you make a more graceful escape because he bothered to SoW you.

Corpse Retrieval? Ever lose a member in EJ to one of those big nasty worm thingys? Yep, send the sowed, cammo'd ranger out to track the corpse, AND bring it back while avoiding mobs and not getting lost. Thats a serious bit of rangering, and it doesn't even require a coffin.

Yes, Rangers ARE jacks of all trades. Yes, Rangers do have low hp and ac. But when it comes to controlling aggro and telling the mob who to hit and when, there are none better.

If every group you're in has a Warrior/Cleric/Chanter/Druid/Shammy/Necro/Rogue/& Wizzy in it, you may just be able to do without a Ranger. But since you can only get 6 in a group, I suggest you find the best ranger you can and put him to work.

Rangers have a misunderstood role in the game, partly because there are some poor players who try to play them like tanks, and largely because of misinformed "scholors" such as yourself. Every class has a very important role to play in the game. Don't dismiss the rangers because its more complex than sitting on their butt and hitting a hotkey saying "healed", or more than stabbing the mob in its back(not to diminish the importance of either job). A ranger is a thinking persons class, and just because its too complex and subtle for you to understand, doesn't mean its not a damn important job.

Well, for a moment let's assume that every attack hits, and that you've got maxx'ed skill in 1 and 2hand blunt. At level 29, the most you will do with jade maces (quadding) is 92-96. The delay is 18, so a VERY good ratio there. Now looking at Peacemaker. The max damage is about 56, with a delay of 30. I think at least for level 29 that the jade maces are better.
Hope this helps. :)

I think at level 30 you are overestimating the number of times that you are going to successfully dual wield and then double attack on that dual wield creating that awesome quad attack. Peacebringer is going to be an alot better damage dealer for level 30 than 2 jade maces.

Look at it this way. With the comparitive delays of each weapon (18 for maces and 30 for peacemaker) you will get 10 rounds of attack with the maces for every 6 rounds with the peacemaker.

Use 50% for both the dual wield and double attack chances and a standard warrior hit ratio of 65% or 2/3. (I'm not 100% familiar with dual wield and double attack percentages at your level but I am pretty sure that they are well less than 50% at level 30 - but 50% is easy to use and the higher percentage benefits the speed weapon which in this case still loses)

Main hand Mace attacks in 10 rounds will be 15. Thats 10 plus 5 more for double attack. 2/3 or 10 of these will hit. Average damage with level bonus on main hand around 20 per hit for a total main hand damage of 200.

Secondary hand attacks in 10 rounds will be 5 successful dual wields and on those 5 successes 2-3 double attack successes for a total of 7-8 attacks. 2/3 or 5 will hit for approx. damage of 18 each (no level bonus). Total second hand damage is around 90.

Total damage with dualed jade maces around 290.

Peacemaker will get in 6 rounds of attack during this same time period and double attack 3 times for a total of 9 swings. 2/3 of those 9 will hit for 6 hits doing 58 damage per hit. 348 total damage.

While you might argue with my percentages and the damage numbers I quickly threw out there, what this really illustrates is that those fast weapons only really become highly damage efficient when you are high level and have a large level bonus. If you were level 49 you would have a level bonus of [(level-25)/3] 8 and that 6 more damage per whack for 10 main hand hits would even it right out and from then on the maces would continue to widen the gap over the two hander.

Just put one weapon in primary and test out which does more dmg. Many feel that you should put the more damaging weapon in primary and the other in offhand so I'd say probably Mace in Pri and CSS in Off.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 15 2001 at 12:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well theres two sides to this fight. One you want the jade in primary doh. But for 2ndary you could have the jade mace and as a warrior after lvl 45 you get 5 damg to you wep and have a 14damg 18dly wep in each hand or have a 14damg 18dly in promary and 17damg 24dly in 2ndary. Well if you know any math the jade mace would have a better ratio in the 2ndary but then you remember the 2ndary isnt entirley based on dly and it screws everything up(. The best bet for you to do is to find a friend who will let you borrow both and try it out:) Imo id probally go for ccs in the secondary:)
