Still Dropping
# May 29 2003 at 4:46 PM Rating: Decent
Dropped on Torv on May 28th, 2003. There are some major changes in the works, so loot tables may be adjusted in the not-so distant future.

Warriors out there, grab one now.

Any WOrd?

Any Word on this? ITs been over a Year, and no comments?? Still dropping? etc... Hay, Its better than What I have... SO who care if there's better... Yea, theres lots better, Not not every can take sshara temple, or lord inquisiter saru...etc... SO... Just give those of us that suck a break, and just add info, and not LIP, about the "crappyness" or worthyness of the items... if someone is looking, they may like it, and post realivent information for them... Happy Fun Slander isn't gonna help anyone, nor make the feeble, better suited to getting that more "uber" item... Unless you are giving it out... then By all means.... Be'Little Things away!

I bet this weapon in the hands of a warrior would be incredible! Consider the fact that a proc will trigger faster the more hits you can land. Now put this in the hands of a warrior who does nothing except melee all the time, and you've got a great proc! A previous post stated that the Spirit Tap spell drains 150 HPs from a MOB. This weapon would almost revolutionize the warrior in that he might be able to solo lesser blue cons. With the ability to heal oneself during battle, think of the efficiency of this well-armed tank. The warrior should be able to smack some greens around to heal himself after a hard fight.

All I have to say is, "Gimme!"

Damn. I normally dislike posts that say, "Gee golly whiz, I should bomb the Verant building because [insert class here] can't use this!" but I've got to see if my thinking matches up with the rest of you folks: Shouldn't this be palladin/ranger equipable? It seems wierd that wis casting hybrids aren't included on the list, when the item adds to wisom.

Does wisdom do something I havn't read enough to know about? Does it do something other than increase the amount of mana on wiz-casters/hybrids?

Maybe, and this is just a tickle way back in the bottom of my mind, I've read something that atributes wisdom to the advancement of noncombat/nontrade skills, like, say, languages. But I may be completly and utterly wrong on that.

Anyone have any ideas?

Theres PLENTY of items out there with stats the given classes can't use. Like wis int mana and cha (ok maybe somewhat useful) on WAR only items. Probably just bugs that Verant doesn't feel like taking out.

It isnt totally unusefull, as +mana would be for a warrior. WIS & INT can be used for tradeskills atleast, whichever is higher, and CHA for buying/selling. Its like all the caster gear out there with 41% haste....Sure its not a good items BECAUSE of the haste but it doesnt hurt, better than nothing =P.

Aye. My cleric friend went nuts seeing my rogue wearing Dark Mail Gauntlets (mana boost in case anyone doesn't catch the irony), so I moved them to my ranger to keep him quiet. LOL

Well, I have found that sense heading IS without a doubt based on wisdom. Especially the first five points. I don't care if someone says "its based on int or wis, whichever is higher'. That is a croc. I made an erudire mage and friend cleric, I had a 142 int, and she a 107 int. I had an 80 wis, she had a 122. Her SH was 10 before mine was 2.

I'll probably be flamed for this, but I read something once that suggested blacksmithing skill improves by intelligence, but the rate of success is determined by wisdom. If this is true (and I'm starting to think it is), intelligence will allow you to improve skill faster, but the successful use of the skill will be influenced by wisdom. Sense Heading needs a few successes to increase in skill, and this is probably why it seems Sense Heading is determined by wisdom at the first few points.

Larney, ur so wrong... =0).. Success is not determinded by Wisdom at all, its your skill that determins how good you´r not how wise your are, high wisdom and/or high Int help giving u faster skill improvmet so u can make better items...

This is how INT and WIS affect your tradeskills (and I wish I'd known this before creating my main).

Skill Level: How good you are. You obviously need to build skill to make difficult items.

Intelligence: How quickly you advance in level. Because you learn stuff quicker when you're smart.

Wisdom: How often you fail. The wiser you are, the faster you learn from mistakes.

I also heard that DEX also affects your skill, possibly because if you have nimble fingers you can fiddle with delicate things easily, but I have no concrete proof on this.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 25 2001 at 6:26 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) your close, INT helps your skills increase quicker (all skills, ie. non-combat, combat, language etc.). Wis helps reduce failures (arg, i cant spell) in non-combat trade skills, like pottery, and helps reduce fizzles on all casters. Then of course Wis casters and Int Casters....

Think of this from a roleplaying aspect. You are a paladin... a holy knight of Marr or whatever friendly, warm-fuzzy god you worship. Are you going to be able to equip this items solely because it increases your Wisdom? Do you think your benevolent god would appreciate one of his worldly minions sucking the life out of his opponants for his own benefit like a common necromancer?

Just my opinion here, but I think they did a bang-up job making this usable by Warriors (Rallos Zek would revel in you sucking the life out of your opponants), Rogues, and Shadowknights (this kind of weapon being the reason they EXIST).

I might see bards picking it up, but most of them would find this thing most distasteful.

Just a thought as this is a roleplaying game...

I most certainly do. However, only the truly powerful (or twinked=P) Paladin may acomplish this. Don't believe me? Look for yourself.

That doesn't generally ring true with the new equipment we've seen so far, however.

Most gear that I've either seen or read about has very distinct uses, and is tailored to one specific class. This generallity doesn't hold true in the high level zones, however: seems like we'er getting more high level gear suited to all classes that could benifit from it.

Take, for example, the ancient eyepatch, recently added to the Allakhazam equipment database:

Ancient Pirate's Eyepatch
LORE ITEM MAGIC ITEM NO DROP
AC: +20 Sta: +10 Agi: +10 Dex: +10 Magic Resist: +10 Fire Resist: +10 Cold Resist: +10 Poison Resist: +10 Disease Resist: +10
Weight: 0.5
Classes: All Classes
Races: All Races
Inventory Slot: Face

I think we'd all agree that every single melee and caster class could use this. They might not want it because they had something better, but all classes could benifit from it. Note that it's also found in the ToV.

I would say, again, from observation only, that this is the typical high level item found in ToV. Mixed stats, useful to all or nearly all, and all can use. Kinda makes raiding Veeshan interesting again, because everyone wants it, and guilds now (if they didn't already) have to have very clear and defined rules for looting.

It would seem that this, rather than enhancing any one class's equipment table, is the primary reason behind the designations given to most ToV drops.

This piece, however, is a big exception: rangers and bards would absolutly kill to use this. The former for the wis and str bonuses (can't rangers dual wield?) as well as the proc, and the latter for the str and the proc. Palladins, on the other hand, I don't think would benifit as much, but they'd still get the added bonuses of having a stat enhancing-shield in the off hand, and the str and process.

I agree with merri. I think this item breaks from the normal we've seen from ToV drops.

Anyone up for a crushbone raid? =p

Spirit Tap = 150 DD lifetap (adds to your health). Would be nice to know it's proc freqnecy (how often it procs)
+wis?
# May 02 2001 at 9:22 PM Rating: Default
Strange that this item is +8wis, even though none of the classes that can use it need wis of any kind.
Procs at what level?

wow imagine if you had like 250 dex, u be invic, low dmg but REALLY low dly and low dmg but very nice lifetap to regain hp, but not good enough to make you be able to kill dragons

With the enchanter spell, Boon of the Garou, melee's frequently know this type of extasy. Boon of the Garou delivers +40 Attack, +100 Dex, and gives you a lifetap proc...it's only a 30 (approx) lifetap (the effect is called EffectLifetapNormal, or something like that) but I've had melee types swear by this spell as a must have.

I love to give that and haste spells to melee types, sit back, and watch the carnage unfold.
