Nice Incentive

In my spare time, as I was working my way through the lower 50s, I would gate over to Natimbi and kite stuff around the hill under the Mastruqs whenever I was LFG, or whenever I just didn't have anything else in mind to do.

While the exp wasn't mindblowingly wonderful, it was still noticable, and after it was all said and done, neither this nor the Strand of Sea Pearls were exceptionally hard to get.

For a quick boredom killer, Natimbi has a couple of decent little rewards, not to mention the chance of getting one of those really nice FT or +ATK items.

On a side note, I found that if you announce once or twice what you're looking for (be it the meats or the stonemite parts), you'll occasionally get somebody who isn't questing them to let you loot the quest parts for free (though it is polite to give a donation on that, if you've got the change on you).

Would a 56 shammy with mostly PoT ornate gear be able to solo these for that book? If so, how would the xp be?

52 too low?

Do you think a 52 druid and 52 ranger can handle these?

Thanks in advance!

A 65 rog and a 62 pally can take the undead camp so i'm sure a 52 ranger and 52 druid can do it

52 druid/ranger combo will do very well here.
You may get a lot of snare and dot resists but when snare does land, keep it feared while the ranger beats it down.
Suggest the druid do the snaring and the first dot so that ranger can get close and hack while it chases the druid.
Avoid getting hit and you'll do fine.
And both of you keep foraging for the Broken Shore Shells, you can get and don't throw away the foraged meat, it sells very well to the Magus, if not in the bazaar.
Reef crustaceans are a little easier than cragbeasts, less HP and AC, but the gland is a rare drop, maybe 1 in 30 has it. They can be pulled from the shore with arrows.
Good luck!!

I have been doing this since lvl 52
I have had very good luck casting Repulse Animal.
Using greater wolf form I frist cast ensrare to pull the to a relently safe area as they come into range I cast repulse animal lvl 51 druid spell on them. I cast my dotes as they walk away from me if I dont get them all on I can finish them as they are head towards me. Then I recast the fear spell agian. sit down and let them cook, If the dotes wear off I recast as needed. I hav'nt done this quest but have been hunting them for experenced I have been soloing them for some time
now. I have also done something but revise grouped with a lvl 52 beasie and had him and his pet melee them never had one death from doing this as far as the drop goes I problly had it and got rid of it not know what it was for, now that iI do back to hunting them agian. also I hunt pretty much across the river. and I pulled to the hill side away from the other mobs, just dont go to the top of the hill unless you want a real fight on your hands lol

Got This One in a Day
# Aug 29 2004 at 6:51 PM Rating: Decent
Had three people at the turtle pond:

51 enchanter (me)
52 cleric
52 mage

We completely stomped the tureptas. They have about 6-7k hp, hit for 129-137 max, and were wusses once slowed. As a 51 enchanter I *can* solo these guys but it takes most of my mana bar (about 2600 mana unbuffed) to keep my pet from dying. Two of the meats dropped, and the other two were offered up to the zone by other people killing turtles (I was the only person in the zone who wanted them, woo).

I estimate we were there for about four hours altogether, but judging from some of the other messages here I think we got lucky. I'm gonna be using this book for quite some time...

Edit: As a side note, stay the hell away from the noc/marstruq, one of them took me out in about 4 seconds when he doubled me for 250 and procced for 500 both times... ouch.

Someone else turns in like 3 of 4 things you need and you turn in the last piece and you get the reward... simple as that

Managed to grab one of these today for my 41 enchanter, grouped with a 55 monk we've been handling these just fine on our own, every once in a while grabbing a 62 pally to join in on the fun. I'm excited about getting to 45 and replacing that death shroud with something that has some pretty good int on it. Took about 3 days of camping for 2-5 hours each time. I had an easier time getting meats for this, then I did getting shells for the necklace turn in with my druid ;)
not snareable?

ive fearkited these with my ranger and had no problem snaring them. with my druid i charm a dog snare turtle and sick it very few resists only problem here seems to be the warping of mobs.

This is starting to suck, i have been solo'in these for 4 days now, probly killed a good hundred of them and got 1 meat so far. The only good thing that has come from this is i did not pay attention to the the name of the mob and got a Fierce Cragwalker and it droped a cool spell haste III item. other then that this quest is starting to be repeatitive. AA xp isnt bad tho.

i solo these with a 51 shaman while having kei, alacrity, and hos/sta on myself. the turtle(s), well umm, torgors/turgurs (whichever a 51 can use), incapacitate, plague, venom of the snake, and envenomed bolt, maybe a shock of venom to kill them, but other than that nothing extraordinary. also i melee the whole time with my Great Maul of Hatred (2hb skill maxed) and may lose 15-20% hp per turtle, but hey, thats what regen's for, and if regen won't work, send in pet to soak damage while you gate the f*** outta there.
I GOT ONE
# Mar 29 2004 at 3:13 AM Rating: Decent
I just got one with my 42 druid on the tribunal. I had some guild assistance and we must have killed about 30-40 to get 3 meats to drop. Most of my dots were sticking and i was grped with a few lvl 65's and got a little xp. Eventually i was able to get my guild leader who had a meat in the bank to try a MQ which worked. so i am now the proud owner of this book and cant wait till i can use it. Also most of the mobs were conning yellow to red at 42 so i would say maybe high 40's to low 50's to solo them with a druid. not sure with any other class.

When to solo?

When could a Necromancer solo these for the quest?
RE: When to solo?
# May 10 2004 at 10:30 PM Rating: Decent
My necro started aggro-kiting these around 53-54 without too much trouble. Can take a while at that level though.

Darkness got resisted a fair bit, so I'd recast it every minute if I were you.

Other dots used: splurt and fire line. Poison and disease just got too many resists for my liking.

If you're using mage toys, your pet might still grab the aggro from you, even if mob is fully dotted.

Don't try fear-kiting, it's way too unrealiable here and the mobs hit HARD for their level. Low HP's though.

I gave up after 4-5 days and only 2 succulent meats, both in the first hour I was kiting them.
RE: When to solo?
# Apr 03 2004 at 1:04 PM Rating: Default
65 ranger kites these very quickly and easily, so I'd imagine you could do it at a much lower level.

lol anyways. it took me like 1 week to get the meats with my druid. its nice exp hunting in natimbi i have been kiting 2 at a time i already have 3 more meats that i have been trying to sell the MQ for on Ayonae Ro but no luck yet i have been telling ppl tho they need to have there meat already. Ill probly just end up MQing it for a friend :) but the last 3 meats i got it only took me 2 days to get but only about 4hrs of playing time. mainly been trying to get exp. the quest isnt as hard as most ppl seem to make it out to be just as long as u hunt the turts.
Caution doing MQ
# Mar 16 2004 at 9:42 AM Rating: Decent
I can not stress this enough. Do not do a 3 then 1 to mq the recipe book. There are ppl handing this npc one meat and ******** up the mq. My BST ended up getting the book before my chanter could give the last piece. Next time I hope to have better luck handing 2 then 2. Was painful having to delete the book. Oh well, live and learn :)
Dot/snaring
# Mar 11 2004 at 6:31 AM Rating: Decent
Druids can easily solo this quest. Snaring and stacking dots work well. At lvl 59 i do 1 snare, 1 poison, 1 fire, 1 epic dot, then cast my best nuke, and refresh the poison dot. Time the nuke so it drops them below 20% and sit down and med while it 'bleed' to death. Or just go out and pull another. Area around camp works very well for this. Other side of river is a bit more risky as adds stack up fast. SoE is recomended instead of wolf form.

So far I have one of these for my necro and one for my 41 cleric. It can be mq-ed but be careful on turnin lol seems folks are turning in one at a time to NPC. I went to mq the first one to my cleric handed in 3 and got it on my necro guess it could have been worse.. Smiley: tongue

Was there for over 3 hours tonight and we got one. Then the zone began to fill up and we at one time close to 60 people. The turtles became scarce and there was a Bard there killing off his group as he tired to bard Kite them out in the open area. Needless to say he died a few times. I have two now and hoepfully will get the other two soon. If you all trying to camp them call a Enchanter in with tashe they can get all the spells to stick after that. I had tashed one mob 5 times before slow would stick and with a 56 Druid, 56 Rogue and 55 Shaman and 56 Enchanter we killed alot of mobs and didn't have to zone once. Having Spell haste III veil on helps with quick casting as well. The veil drops off a named mob in the zone too.

Good Luck, hope to see you in the zone sometime.

"I had tashed one mob 5 times before slow would stick"
Ok.. you do know the tash line of spells is unresistable and only needs to land once right? Multiple casts do not stack. The only reason to cast it more than once is to get agro (and that's been changed so it's not so good for that now either).

Only shaman/mage malo line will stack for further magic resist debuffing. Oh, bards too I suppose if you have one of them instead.

That veil drops off the "fierce cragwalker", which is a bit tougher than the regular ones, still soloable by this 58 druid, but Glamoure of Tunare really helps to make the spells stick...
The fierce's common drop is a decent shoulder item for pure casters, the veil is uncommon. My chanter will make good use of both items, however.

err tash does not stack up. If it resisits ask a mage/shammy to malo =-p.

Killed about 60-80 turtles seen one of these succulent meats drop... and not sure if it really makes a difference, but I got the one to drop from the Turepta Pond that is a few hundred yards to the west of the camp. Good luck :)

Cool,
I am going to take my almost 53 Druid over there tonight and try root-rotting them until I get the book and / or lvl 53. :-)

RE: Recipe Book
# Feb 27 2004 at 3:35 AM Rating: Default
Root-rotting doesn't work too well on the turtles. Don't ask how I found that out... painful memory.

Although not completely immune to rooting, the turtles resist it at least 50% of the time, and shrug it off very quickly when it does land. If you're a druid, you'll have better luck with snaring and stacking dots.
RE: Recipe Book
# Mar 02 2004 at 4:23 AM Rating: Decent
You are correct!
They don't care for root too much so I kited them up and down the beach, hehe. They did manage to kill me once, I lost temp and forgot to cast Chloro before I pulled :-/
