After months of hunting Tureptas, for this and the Succulent Meat, it finally dropped. I can definately confirm its "very rare" drop rate. I've had the zone to myself for weeks now, not much of a popular hunting spot anymore.
Drop Rate
# Sep 21 2006 at 11:23 AM Rating: Default
I levelled almost solely in Natimbi from 48 through 54 or so, and looted at least four of the two rare neck items. I killed, of course, thousands of mobs in that time, so I probably have a pretty decent sampling of their drop rate.

On the other hand, they seemed to completely stop dropping last year. I had stopped levelling there and only dropped in to hunt specifically for drops, so it may just be that I don't rack up enough kills to make a drop likely.

consumption to select and lay under disproportionate burdens a particular
one because it is a comfort, pleasing to the taste or necessary to the
health and will therefore be bought, is in that particular a tyranny.

Easy, Easy, Easy, well for a 70 Zerker and 68 cleric that is, zerker not that uber so the cleric actually does have to heal, but in a time of 4 hours there just clearing the shore line trying to get named's to spawn, at good 3 or 4 of these dropped, and mostly off junk mobs. Put one on my druid, gave one to shammy selling the other 2. Prolly harder if you are the lvl natimbi is designed for.
Got mine in 2 mins...

I just got mine today off a shore stonemite in Natimbi... funny because I was camping the things trying to get the stonemite meat for one of the quests. Didn't even know this item existed.

And the same stonemite dropped a blue diamond. Luckiest kill in my 5 years of EQ.

I hunted in Natimbi a lot in a previous life and on a different server without ever seeing this drop. Recently, hubby and I dinged 51 and started hunting there, and I was doing the pearl necklace quest. Hunting stonemites and 3-4 drops, filling in with cragbeasts and hynids. After only a few nights and having just dinged 52, one dropped off a hynid. My exact response was "Oh my ****ing GOD!" Very, very lucky. =)
Unbelievably Rare

Don't listen to all these people who say "I walked into Natimbi and within 5 minutes the talisman was handed to me on a silver platter." This thing is incredibly rare.

To give you an idea, I started hunting in Natimbi at 45. I leveled there from about 45-47, and also some in my early 50s. I helped 4 different people to get their 4 succulent turepta meats for Kiki's quest. Later, as I grew in level, I'd come to Natimbi whenever I was LFG and kill the restless souls with a dire charm pet (all the time hoping the talisman would drop). I've spent so many hours in Natimbi it almost makes me ill to think about it.

Now here I am, level 65 with 79 AAs, MONTHS later, I don't even wanna know how many hours of hunting, and I finally found a talisman. If you come here hoping to get this within a couple hours you will most likely be seriously disappointed.

Anyway, if you are higher level looking for this thing I just want to say don't waste your time at the restless soul camp. Yes, they are dark blue and give XP, but it's incredibly meager XP. This thing has a very slim chance to drop, so you need to give yourself lots of chances. Kill things you can kill fast, the greener the better. And my talisman ended up dropping off a squid (tide feaster), so don't forget to clean out the critters in the water, too.

They had good luck, you had bad. Why should someone not listen to those who got lucky, merely because you did not?

Yes they are rare, however, there is always the possibility that someone will get lucky.

Like you, it took me a long time to get one for myself (mine came off the fierce months ago), but . . .

tonight (not too long before this post), I am helping a friend level his new necro toon.

Restless camp was taken at the time, so we are ******** around killing the turtles, stonemites, and hyenas, which were db or better cons to him, but very green to me so they are going down very fast.

Within 90 minutes of getting into zone tonight, the damned talisman drops off one of the hyenas. For me, it's like, "Oh, ****!"

I'm totally shocked. My friend didn't even know what the talisman was when he looted it, and kept saying, "Nice stats!"

It's his first time in GoD and Natimbi. I explained to him how uncommon the talisman is and how uber lucky he was in getting it so quick.

It was a sweet deal all way round; we went there to get him experience, which he got, and he wound up with a major neck upgrade, which I didn't expect to happen at all.

So, like the talisman itself, "quick" drops are uncommon, but they do happen.

I can confirm this. Last night a friend and I went there to XP grind and after an hour or so a Fierce spawned so we came back across the water to hunt near the Magus. Within 5 minutes some jerk trained a Restless Soul onto us. It killed my friend, but thanks to an instant cast heal potion and LoH I managed to kill it. It had this!! I took no notice of it at the time as I was more concerned with getting a rez for my partner. Later, I looked at the stats and wow!

Either extremely lucky on the drop rate of the talisman, or extremely bad luck on the drop rate of Spectral Essences. In the time it took me to get 4 Spectral Essences (Killed about 70-80 Restless Souls) I scored two Talismans :). Might keep killing Restless Souls for buddies if this kinda drop rate keeps up.

I was bored one night and was soloing in Natimbi with my 61 warrior. Was hoping for the Shell Inlaid Collar but knew that was a near impossibility. The first Cragwalker I killed by Wayfarers Camp dropped this. I gave it to a guild member thinking it was worth the same as most items that drop in Natimbi (ie. Incandescent Turpeta Shell and such) I didn't see the +1 mana regen. Kicked myself after reading this post. I could have traded it for a Shell Inlaid Collar......DOH!!
# Sep 23 2004 at 4:25 AM Rating: Decent
after hours and hours hunting for the shell inlaid collar for months THIS drops for me just as I was about to log. Dropped off a reef crustacean. So this gives me hope that I will one day find the shell inlaid collar =)

Ok talk about luck...

I went yesterday to kite in the zone...i was groups for i came...4 days after i found the Shell inlaid Collar on a dog...

I pull 2 dogs...

I kill the first...the second...loot the first...

Eeeek ! the Talisman !!!! :D

then i continue to kite a little... and i go sleep...

Today i come back and less than 24 hours after the last talisman !!! i find another one !! and still on a dog...

(of course, the first talisman was in my lore bank :p talk about cheating :D)

for the moment i found 1 collar, 2 Talismans (in exactly less than 1 week) and it was everytime on dogs :) i also noticed that i was finding more often Blue diamonds, Diamonds and Saphires on dogs than on every other monster.

nb : but everybody thinks it's better to kill turtles...then...i let the others kill the big turtles...and i go hunt my little lovely dogs :D

59 Necro and this 59 Shammy are killing yard trash in Natimbi this morning, waiting for souls to repop. Killed a dog, went to loot it --- you guessed it! Talisman of the Spiritseer! Necro already had one so my shammy got it.

We were getting ready to leave 2 hours later, had already sold vendor junk in Wayfarer camp, when the necro pulled a turtle just for fun. Killed it and ANOTHER Talisman of the Spiritseer!

Had to do some quick alt login footwork and a little help from a friendly guildie to loot this lore item. What a day!

Has to be a turtle thing. Cleared the beach in search of the Shell Inlaid Collar. Decided to cross the river to work the restless soul camp. One more turtle popped, so decided to kill it before crossing. It dropped this necklace.
