You've never been able to make these backpacks with HQ Cat skins. HQ Cat is used to make Tailored Quivers.

F.Y.I. I make these bags for good income they have paid for all my spell post lev 20. I used to sell them for 80pp when I first stared selling them and was buying the high quality rockhopper pelts in bazzar for 15-30pp ech now it's hard to sell the bags for 50pp still ok profit. Oh one more thing these are great to fill your invetory. If your caster you should get a relic pack 75% wt. reduc for that heavy items you loot or carry. If your steangth is high these are great but to save money I still use tradder bags in half my bank inventory. "With jul 10th patch you will fail in making the baggs much much less the higher your taloing skill is same with all other trade skills WOOT"
Aarghh! These are NO DROP now! I imagine this was done to prevent putting them in the new shared bank slot. But now, low level tailors can't sell them. This is just ridiculous!
On a side note, a regular backpack and a Fier' dal fletching kit will go into the shared bank slot.
If you play on POVAR and find yerself in need of these 10-slot backpacks, say to fill up those new 8 bank spaces you will be getting with the new expansion. Look up Tilinya, she is on most evenings after 5PM est and always has plenty of skins ready to meet yer needs
If you are like me, and HATE having 10 traders satchels sitting in the bank holding items, then these are great...traders satchels give no WR, and weigh 25 each...these are easy to quickly take out of the bank, and put into an inventory slot...off you go to trade with people in pok, and you are not encumbered, unless you keep all your breastplates in one ;)
These become trivial at a skill of 88 but because HQ bear skins are fairly expensive (25pp), I'd suggest you don't start making them until you have a skill of at least 100.
After Cured Silk armor became trivial at 82, I went through 8 stacks of HQ cat pelts until quivers were trivial at 115 before I started making backpacks. Since then, I've only failed once and preserved the 2 stacks of HQ bear I'd saved to make backpacks.

HQ Bear skins are much cheaper now that Hopper Hides can be used and are much easier to get. You'd be hard pressed to get 10PP for a HQ Bear anymore. I got extremely lucky one day, I had 3 of the bear skins and a tailor actually paid me 31PP AND a tailored backpack! LOL! What a deal! Guess she didn't realize the price had dropped or else she was expecting me to become her new source for skins/hides and dropped the backpack on me so I wouldn't get encumbered bringing the loot in to her.

On the Terris Thule server, both HQ bear pelts and HQ Rockhopper hides still sell for 20-30pp.
You're right, the hopper hides are much easier to get now but most people still don't want to use their play time farming for tradeskill ingredients.

Honestly, I think the tailored large bags are better for most non-melee classes. True this has 10 slots, but it weighs 3 stone. A tailored large bag weighs 0.8 stone, and has 6 slots, same weight reduction. I only carry 4 containers with me at any time, as my strength is only 91. I have 3 of the tailored bags, and a deluxe sewing kit (because it holds giant, and has 10 slots). Anything heavy goes in the bags, and I can carry more than 4 giant items (if I didn't tailor and didn't have the deluxe kit, I'd use a toolbox). The only classes who'd really carry these are melee classes with high strength, or high levels with a lot of low weight armor.

Or a loot ***** Erudite Wizard named Belelslooth on AB :) After visiting BB with a group, I had to CRAWL back from the Gate in front of the bank... 170/60 weight I think... Good thing I didn't jump in the pool, or I would never have gotten out of it :) Bricks are heavy....

no, the tailored large backpack is different, it is 6 slot and is made from a lowquality pelt. A hand made pack is 10 slot and made from a high quality pelt.
