Irony

Does anyone else find it ironic that this is a "Giant" Black Drum but its size is "tiny"?
Speed Test!

Very un-scientific, but did a little speed test on SoE vs. Giant Drogmar in PoK.

From the Ak' Anon Stone to the Nexus stone in PoK, back against the walls from a standing start:
Drogmar: 17 Seconds
SoE: 21 Seconds

Repeated a couple of times, same results, just an observation to give you an idea of the speed difference.

This doesn't account for the wind resistnace caused by the Bard that blew by me like I was standing still in both test cases.... :) <J/K>

The only negative about the Drogmar is that it takes it a couple of secs to get up to speed and they don't exactly stop on a dime.... if you want to stop, you need to plan ahead.

Speed info...

This is from a post on one of the other drums, not sure how accurate it is: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=19374&mid=10482591553455

Also, someone else was posting about hailing the NPCs that you buy the Drogmoors from, and noticed a good quote.

davidhutchinson wrote:

But to my mind the crucial phrase is 'They can match a horse, hoof step for hoof step'.

So in the spirit of nicking info from somewhere else (care of Zestee):

here are the speeds of the Horses and therefore Drogmor...

9K Rope Bridle = 25% Movement Rate Increase
30K Leather Bridle = 50% Movement Rate Increase
60K Silken Bridle = 60% Movement Rate Increase
100K Chain Bridle = 70% Movement Rate Increase

So, from reading his quote:

SMALL Drums = 25% Movement Rate Increase
Drums (No size name) = 50% Movement Rate Increase
LARGE Drums = 60% Movement Rate Increase
GIANT Drums = 70% Movement Rate Increase

Hope this helps, took me a bit to find all of the info (wish Allak would post the speeds on the effect link or something ... or if not Allak, at least Lucy Smiley: bah)

a Question on Speed
# Mar 23 2004 at 2:08 AM Rating: Decent
I'm sure is has been addressed somewhere, but could someone point me at the post or repost the differances in speed for the various drums?

Thanks
Yes!

Hail the Gnomes near the guy that sells the drogs then give drum to the one that says the color u have, then you have to sell a bag of platinum to the guy that sells the drogs - TIP - stand between him and the banker when u do it so not to be encumbered! /smiles

Vailin is the gnome to give your black drums to. He is standing to the RIGHT of the banker/merchant

One of the gnomes will buy back present horse for 60% or so buy new drogmar. You just have to find particular gnome for particular color drog.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 19 2004 at 2:55 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Just so everyone knows ...... DONT EVER BUY A HORSE!!! Buy a Drogmor instead. The horses big fat head partially blocks your view and is a targetting nightmare. Drogmor heads dont block your view and are every bit as fast as horses. HORSES REALLY, REALLY SUCK!!!
