I have a SHD and when I was just starting some higher levels offered this shield up to me. It came off a mob in 3rd Gate, Neriak, but have no idea how they managed it. Lucky me.
Talked tosomeone who did the illusion spell quest was a 60 DE chanter on the Nameless said they never saw the shield.

ive read about every post on the illusion gukta quest, nothing is said about who drops this thing during quest or if its even droped, any information on this would be great.

Watched a group take down the troll Gribnor in Neriak (for the good version of the quest) one night and this dropped for them. They were thrilled - very nice item, and it's always nice when there's a little bonus thrown in for the friends who go to help you with a quest ;)

When the quest for Illusion: Guktan was new, Gribnor the Small dropped the Frog Hide Shield every time. Since about two-three weeks after it was introduced (and SoE made the Gribnor enchounter dramatically harder, so 65 enchanters couldn't solo it), he stopped dropping it. I have not seen him with the shield since then.
I don't know if this is now a rare drop, or has stopped dropping entirely, but when he had it every time, you could see him holding it.
