Is this at all useful anymore for its regen. effect? Seems like there are so many higher buffs that would overwrite, and familiars that are easily accessable ... will this truely stack with any form of regen. (already as part of it composition) nowdays?
It doesn't stack with any other kind of regen.. Basically it is pointless to do this quest if you look into the value of reward. Things are changed, its an 8 years old quest so don't expect much.
Who will do this nowadays? (1) Bored guys that got lots of time and don't want to spend it on other things. (2) Insane ppl that are looking for some achievements.. wanna cap all of trade skills. (3) Crazy old schools that enjoy the traditional "camping" a lot.
Just got this tonight. New OOT wasn't hard to navigate to get, was lucky on Glyphed Ghoul (very unlucky on Firebone notebook, about 25ish kills to get it), and a tough fight with Velks. Then the tradeskills, whoa, the tradeskills. Oh well, they'll probably come in usefull for something else. But, the thing that really impressed me I'd not noticed from the description is that this form of the Phylactery isn't just clicky from inventory, it's targetable. Can go round buffing up newbies! Does make it a tad harder to use as an insta clicky of course as you have to make sure you're targetted, but still, very usefull. The other version being mana/hp is also insta clicky but can't be cast on others, is self only, and may be easier to use in that respect. Right, Ringwar next.
Actually, I think it's more likely that it lacks an augmentation slot because you can hand it in to the quest-giver to get a Phylactery instead, and vice versa. Often quest rewards that can be cycled like this are deliberately lacking augmentation slots.
You use this from inventory, few (if any who manage to attain this item) would equip it and take a 50hp hit. Yes, no augment slot, same with the normal "phylactery". One can be turned in for the other repeatedly; such items handed into npc's do not have slots.
