Not bad

I won roll but went ahead to pass to the warrior in group. This item is not all that bad for Ogre beastlords, for they can bash and could make use of this shield. Ac is hard to find for BL's so i really wanted it to, but if it makes the warrior happy, why not give em it.

I'm a 65 Monk and this dropped while I was in a pickup group. The WAR and PAL in the group both laughed at it and said that (and I quote) "it was gay". They told me to loot it. I asked them about 5 times if they were serious and it turns out that they were. Maybe they had something better, but I went ahead and looted it. Now I'm a Monk with a shield about as big as I am but the AC and Stats are nice. My question is is the Bash effect a spell or does it require the skill? I haven't noticed any Bash damage, but I may just have missed it scrolling by. In any case it's a great piece to wear around because it confuses so many people to see a Monk with a shield.

The furious hate only procs when you bash. I have a lowbie warrior with the Zek crested buckler (think thats it's name) and thats the only time it procs is when you bash with it.

And since monks don't get bash, you shouldn't have to worry about the hate multiplier. And it should just be AC and stats for you. Me being a paladin, i'd love to have a shield with any type of furious bash on it.

You guys are being rather short-sighted on this.

I have both a monk and a ranger. 65 monk, 200+ AA, and I've been playing for a little over 3 years now on Innoruuk.

If this dropped in an adventure that I was on, while I would not take it over a pal/sk/war that would use it, I would most certainly go for it otherwise.

Monks that pull (which are rare these days since so many are used to playing their other characters..) could find a huge use in an extra 35AC, 100hp, and 8 to all resists. *most* monks don't have an offhand with any, let alone all of those stats and while it may be slightly inconvenient, it would help a load.

Rangers that are using a bow? Why the heck not use the shield for the same reason as the monk. You gain an extra 100hp and 8 resists (AC not going to do ya much if you're 100 miles from the mob.) Granted, swifty or a veng weapon will give you more atk, so unless you're in the top end of worn atk you likely wouldn't desire it anyway.

The fact remains however that it can be useful for the other classes listed, not just classes with bash.

Classes

Wow the classes on this are funny. I usually say that anyone that can use the item is lucky to get it, but in this case I think I would die laughing if I saw a rogue, monk, beast, bard or ranger using this. Now granted the hp/mana is nice and resists are always nice, but do any of these classes even get bash? Either way grats o whoever, even if its just for hp/mana and resists. :)

This would be awesome addition for a tanking Pal/Shd or a warrior. The extra aggro while also using bash to keep a mob in check could really keep riposte damage down while amplifying the tank's aggro. It'd be a waste for any other class to grab it though as all other classes not only dual wield, but rarely ever tank.
