Finally got it. I think it was the 30th named kill.
The good news is that the named spawns a LOT.
Trigger all 5 traps and the 5th one you trigger will always be either the named or a placeholder (hunter) that does not corpse-camp or despawn like the young frogs do.
Recommend using a rogue with SoS or a monk or SK with FD to trigger the traps so you dont have to fight a jillion mobs and to maximize churn.
Up the hill behind the static spawn gator near the southern most trap spot is a safe spot to park boxes / groupmates.
Put the fourth young frog on xtar and when he despawns you know the cycle is ready to repeat.

Five locations, all marked on current edition of Brewell's maps.

Looted this item last night. There are multiple options and opinions on getting the warlord to spawn but for me I killed all of the trap frogs along the locs provided below and after some time A Korascian Warlord popped. I am a level 86 Shaman with modest gear, J5 tank merc and pet and the fight was trivial (as you would expect given gear/level). He was level 68 and used Acid Jet a couple of times and Froaking Mist once. If you are in level range (solo or group) I highly recommend clearing the area around the traps before tripping them as there are a few mobs such as armadillos, basilisks and elementals both roaming and static through the path.

Confirmed, I popped the traps today and killed two warlords, second one dropped the Ball of Golem Clay.
I had a lvl 71 monk with a merc. the fight was trivial, maybe lasted a little over a minute per warlord.

11/5/2017 - Confirmed still drops. Took a long time, didn't count the spawns, but about 3 days on and off, a few hours each day.

Camped the warlord through lvl 64-69 and the ball of golem clay dropped on spawn no 19.

just wanted to say 350 warlord kills in my lifetime and 0 clicky. I spent months a while ago camping and i kept count, i said if i hit 200 im going to quit which i did. Then i got the itch again i still kept count but was off an on camping 30 mins heres 2 hours there, regularly irregular camping i guess you could say. Did that for 100 tries, now im camping it straight again been 50 kills and still nothing so 250 kills were straight perma camping and 100 kills were just off an on. So if your feelin unlucky look on the brightside least your not as unlucky as me. Shootin for 500 kills

This dropped to me on April 3 2007 on Druzzil Ro server..
Got a group there that helped me......
Poped 4 traps and 5th was either Hunter or Warlord... Dropped alots of cloaks then one Ball of Golem Clay......

Just got this today, 3/1/07.
Cleared some trash and started at the trap on the corner of the temple near the ZI. Head directly south killing trash and you'll go over 4 traps or so.
Warlord spawned from the last trap just over the ledge and dropped the Ball of Golem Clay and a Spectral Parchment.

Went for this yesterday. Cleared all the traps six times. Every single time the trap actually on the ledge itself spawned the Warlord, six times out of six. All of the other frog traps spawned a "Young Frog" every time.
The trap on the ledge is between the two trees that are right next to each other, a small way in from the zone wall, right on the ledge itself.
Fifth and sixth Warlords both had the clay.

47 straight hours at ledge and atleast 25 rotting cloaks later still no stupid ball. Sleep calls, ill take a week off and give it another section of my weekend. I just wish the AA didnt suck at lvl 70 lol
I used to farm these in POE all the time, went there last night and killed for over an hour, could not get a Warlord to pop.

Back in the days before the revamp of CT, there used to be a golem who dropped balls of golem clay (orbs? of golem clay) ... they were I think 3 charges and expendable and gave illusion earth elemental (the *old* graphic hehe).
...
Then they screwed with CT and moved all the 35ish mobs outside. I don't know if the old CT golem still pops out there or not. But if he does, is the expendable version of this clicky still in the game?

I have killed The warlord over 30 times now and no illusion clicky. He is spawned from trap mobs. Trigger the traps around the ledge camp. There are about 6 trap spots to trigger which you can do easily. I 2box a shm and sk there. They have anguish gear and such but you could do with lesser gear pretty easy. One day he will drop it I hope.
Place holder is normally a Yound Frog and one other frog. The traps pop shortly after you walk over them. Kill the ph, trigger again in a bit and keep it up till he spawns.

The only mob you need to kill after traps go off are the Hunters, the young frogs poof just before reset.
I up to 44 kills now and still no ball.

There are actually only 5 traps. They go up in a line northwards from the ledge. Last one is right and the right hand corner of the temple.

I killed this mob like 50 times and didnt see the ball drop just the cape that either rots or goes to bots/alts. =/ I want the illusion!
The Frog that drops this is spawned by setting off a trap, in Plane of Earth, after zoning inf if you follow left wall to the "Ledge" camp and look straight out there are mobs everywhere. I think it is if you step out ontop of where the normal frog spawns A Korascian Warlord will pop. He doesnt have to many HP for a named and his AE is easily ressisted. I have killed him twice, once we got this the other time we got the cloak.

I have the original Ball of Golem Clay from CT. I checked the charges today. It says 1 charge expendable. I was hoping they changed the old item, but they apparently didn't.
