You can even get them in the newer Velious expansion Claws of Veeshan. I still have no idea if it has any use.
Since no one has managed to find a quest for this as of this posting, I'm deleting my last rotting dragon scale. I've had it in my bag for about 10 years, and if it was rotting then it's putrid by now! *delete*
It is a Dragon Mauseleum...you know a graveyard..not all that surprising to find rotting dragon scales I would think...and why does everything have to be of some use? My wife constantly tells me i am useless once I log on to EQ...she's right :)

Probably has something to do with the 3000 unknown quests. Maybe one day someone will find the right question to ask the correct NPC to get quest going.

ok..i had my drood forged bunch of these....what a waste of forage when you can't sell or use for anything. What's up with that??
Stinks too cuz they dont stack *sigh, thanks for the junk clogging up my inventory SoE! Since when is Foraging supposed to be a burden???!!

I guess the purpose of these are simply to delete them. Can't imagine they involve any decent quest since velious was so long ago and noone has posted about it. That's what I'm doing with mine anyhow.
