I helped a rogue out with his epic today using my 41 ranger and my wife's 10 ranger. He didn't need the Skean, and the ratio didn't look so good, so now we've got a level 10 with this... who can't duel-wield for 7 more levels. Oops.

Now that I see what the proc is, I kind of wish I'd looted it.
one more thing..

I have this item and it is a sweet wep for my rogue, although it does creaate a lot of aggro. One thing is important to note...the proc stuns many "unstunable" mobs. So far, have stunned most of the Kael giants, Ragefire, The General, Black Reavers, HoT wurms, Guardian Wurms. I have yet to get a message back that "this mob cannot be stunned". I am thinking of redoing the Renux turn in so other people can get this toy.

Helped Rozs, a rogue friend of mine, complete this part of his epic last night. He had mentioned that a nice 1hs dropped off her so seeing as I am in the process of dusting Soop off and upgrading his equip, I though this would be a good time to get him a sword.

The fight went well... me being the only one hit... I attacked a bit earlier than the Druid got full aggro and got spun for 5 seconds or so.

After that, the nice little group from my guild and Rozs finished her off... dropped his quest items, ravenscale cloak and neck, and this weapon.

Hope to put it to some use in near future.

Thanks for the info here on it, I had never heard of it previous to last night. :)

I have a 49 War on the Vazaelle Server that is highly interested in aquiring this little trinket. Currently my guild is not quite up to the task of hitting this, so I would like to extend my services or arrange to buy looting rights to it. If any1 can help me out let shoot me a tell or email me at: neoclast@comcast.net

For a 49 Warrior, you should be able to find something better. Sure, the proc is fun, but after level 50, it doesn't last very long: in my experience, rarely over 2 seconds, the poison DOT/DD is patheticly small, and it doesn't proc often enough to interrupt spells with any accuracy.

However, for a warrior, this is an OK weapon. The proc causes an ENORMOUS amount of agro, which any rogue who uses this (myself) can attest to. I just put it away cause with 155DEX, it procs about 1-3 times a fight, and I get so much agro, I can't even back out of the fight cause the mob will chase me, in the event that evade fails.

But hey, more power to you. No Drop weapons are always nice to have around just in case, even if you eventually put it in the bank (corpse runs). Personally, I'm keep this on me in case I ever have to run for my life, or if I decide to do a little soloing.

Good luck. Renux really isn't very hard if you have a few talented Druids (58+). With you, and maybe 2 other damage dealers (the rogue being one), perhaps a monk, and an enchanter for some Tashing to help get agro and help the snares land, Renux isn't that scary.

I dont want this as a full time weapon, would just like to add it to my Rallic pack full of various weapons I carry. I guess yah could say I kinda like a boy scout with my weapons, always being prepared. Plus I am ahead of most in my guild so a lot of times I am fighting MoBs that are underneath my level which should also help with the Proc. Lastly anything that helps me maintain agro is something I want to carry. I appreciate your info though.

We killed Renux today to get further along in my epic. She's wickedly underconned, but me (54 Rogue), 58 Monk, and 2 58+ Druids didn't have much trouble with her. One of the Druids died when agro switched from the first Druid to the 2nd. She wasn't paying attention. The skean procced from Renux right away and the druid didn't have a chance. Down in about 7 seconds. We eventually kited Renux to death. She dropped the epic note, the jagged diamond dagger, Ravenscale Mask, Ravenscale Shoulders, and the Trochilic's Skean. Needless to say, it's a fun weapon.

So, in an effort to upscale the variety of my weapons, I have taken this sword under my wing. Before, I was using a Blood Point / Centi SS combo for a max damage output, but I have recently begun to understand that having more weapons is better.

With this in mind, I bought an Embalmers Skinning Knife (procs Summon Bandages) and a Serrated Bone Dirk (procs Engulfing Darkness - Snare)

As a rogue, I don't have many chances when a mob agros on me on a running trip. If I'm not near a zone or my SoW wears off, I'm screwed. With this in mind, I take my new Skean offhand, SBD mainhand, and try to fear a mob that I can't fight. Between the Stun from the Skean, Snare on the SBD, and the off chance that my Instill Doubt works, I now have a fighting, or make that RUNNING, chance.

I picked up this weapon a few weeks ago, and have been trying it out. I think it is a great weapon. The stun lasts a good long time, and I am sure it is good for dueling too, I will have to try it sometime.

Only problem I found is that it has turned me into an agro hound. I recommend having a standby weapon handy when you really need the main tank to hold the agro. I'll tell you I think the proc on this sword is better at pulling the agro than snaring, taunting, and whomping up on a MOB all combined. They don't like getting stunned. I will hold this for soloing, it is an awsome solo weapon.

I'm going to concur with giving this weapon a "thumbs up". I got this weapon because I was the only dual wielder (other than the rogue, obviously, and he got his epic piece). In the era of Luclin, its ratio is substandard, and I've never much cared for random procs in place of nice reliable damage/delay improvements and stat buffs (I generally have a centi warhammer off hand). So I figured this thing was going to just eat up a slot in my inventory until I got around to destroying it. Sort of forgot about it and didn't even try it out for about a week.

I finally remembered I had it, and started using it - first on sirens (I was the baby in a group of guild heavies), because stunning enchanter mobs seems like an imperative. Results were inconclusive. Then I used it while fear-kiting griffins in Eastern Wastes, and fell in love. The effect of the stun is easy to see, as the feared mob stops running. Multiple times I had fear break while a griff was stunned and reapplied fear before the stun broke. Finally, had it out with my shammy partner while we played in warrior/cleric mode. In a 70-90 second fight, a stun or two can prevent a significant amount of damage. And on the con side, had it out in a group of 8 fighing giants in Kael, and sure enough it got me unpredictable aggro that I (and my compatriots) didn't want. Even just when the shammy and I pick up a third, and the fights go down to 60 seconds or shorter, the defensive boost of the stun probably no longer makes up for the lost DPS.

In summary, I plan to keep this thing around until the epic displaces it. For soloing, duoing, and probably most caster fighting, it is the bomb. And when in fuller groups or raids, it'll get swapped out.

Whats up..Rake of the 52'nd here...I must say, I was looking forward to gettin this weapon for a while, and I finally got Renux and have been Lovin this sword...The stats are not great, and its slow, but, Clockwork Poison is Sweet...!! 1-12sec stun, and when it does last 12sec, your tank Thanks You...Only thing, and it might be a bug, but on NPC's, there are No Visuals to the proc, and will not spin a mob in circles. I was dueling a friend for kicks, it proc'ed, and I watched him spin around in circles for about 9 sec. Was Hillarious..!! Its a Good stun, seem to have good luck proc'in out when the time is right..!! So have Fun...!!

This combo (Venom axe and Skean) seems to work great against casters and for soloing. Both weapons interrupt casting and provide some extra DD and DOT. I switch the Skean in and out with Bloodfire for maximum results. This along with a very high Magic Resist has made me into a casters nightmare. Worthy weapon for the procs ability.

Fought Renux the other day to help a Rogue guildie with his epic. We got her, but she managed to take out our MA during the battle, and lucky me, I got the aggro. Her first blow stunned me and sent me whirling around while she doubled on me for 150-200. I never got a chance to do anything - she kept stunning and whirling me with every hit and killed me in about 6-10 seconds. Reminded me of being in a meat grinder. She was wielding what looked like a shortsword.

Anyways, the Rogue let me loot this. I was running a Google search when I came across the following:

Trochilic \Tro*chil"ic\ (?), a. [See Trochilics.] OF or pertaining to rotary motion; having power to draw out or turn round. "By art trochilic." --Camden

Now I know why I was stunned and spinning so much. I was going to toss this in the bank, but if it procs on mobs like it proced on me, then I'll haul it out for fighting mobs that cast and Cheal - has a nice stun...

# Jul 22 2001 at 2:23 PM Rating: Decent
On my daily course of reading various message boards, I came across a post about this weap. Apparently it's a great weap for warriors, since the proc is a huge taunt and it can stun the target up to 12 seconds. I've had it sitting in my bank for a while, collecting dust, never knew that it was a stun. Time to break it out. :)
RE: Good Weap

Well from a bard's perspective this is just flat out sweet. Now before you flame me for not praising the BoH over this, let me explain something. Our song skills are dex based. With a higher dex I have fewer missed notes, and am not stuned as easily. Hence I hold dex to be more valuable then str.

So what about bard melee? I myself have invested my time and money in raising my dex as high as I can as that helps me help the tanks maintain agro. It is not the bard's job to do major damage, we just want to sing songs and keep people alive. So would it not be better for us to melee with a decent delay weapon and major proc seeing as we already have our dex pimped out? Just some food for thought as no one ever seems to think about the bards.
RE: Good Weap
# Jul 27 2001 at 3:35 AM Rating: Decent
Rogues can actually use this quite well themselves. The stunning proc appears to have fairly low resistance and if it sticks will most likely give you enough time to evade before the critter turns and beats the tar out of you. Of course, any tank helping me on this portion is quite welcome to the little slasher if they desire it. Personally, I'd just toss it in the offhand against casting MOBs for an extra chance at interruptions. Others might desire it for regular use, although the ratio is lacking (and the speed a bit slow) for reliable taunting from a main tank. The unreliable but significany taunt would be manageable for a Ranger but frankly, when they want to stun they have spells frequently to help. If no other wants it when I do Renux (soon I expect) then I'll give you a report on its usefulness.

cheers,
Celeris

This weapon is awesome... It does seem to have some variablity depending on the mob you are attacking.... Against the Clerics of Innoruuk in Hate I got the best results. It seems that it was constantly procing to the point that i could keep one stunned for the time it took us to kill it.. On the undead it seemed to be more variable when it proced and did not seem to actually stun them for any length of time. And in a duel that lasted a couple of minutes it never proced. I was hoping to use this as one of my weapons to duel with... I would open with Truncheon of Doom until it procced and then switch weapons to this and pray for more procs.... Hope it works... Definitely suggest that you assist a rogue on this leg of their epic in hopes of attaining one.

Had this weapon since 42, and it hasn't procced until today when I dinged 46. Not very sure on what clockwork poison does, I have read what it does from a mob, but haven't tested it on a person yet (I play on Tallon Zek). I know it is poison based, has an initial DD of 5 (whoop).

I know it does not spin the mob, not sure if it stuns or for how long or how much damage it does. There is a message on it wearing off, so it must be a DoT of some sort (of course, it's pioson based, but there are some poison DDs)

Couldn't tell if it was stunning, because there was a cleric and an enchanter in the group chain stunning.

Actually it doesn't drop off of Yendar himself. It drops off of the NPC that spawns when you hand a note to him (from the plane of hate i believe). This is interesting because this means that pretty much no one who isn't doing the rogue epic will actually cause this guy to spawn. A nice bonus item you get along the way to finishing the epic. A pretty nice weapon... too bad it looks like a short sword when equipped.

How to get Trochilcs Skean
# Feb 02 2001 at 1:30 PM Rating: Good
Its part of the rogue epic quest. you need to locate a gnome in an smr called yendar starpyre (wonders and completely random) say "book" to keep him from running, give him a scribbled parchment wich you get from an npc earleir and he gives you a tattered parchment. give him the tattered parchment and "the bok od souls" from plane of hate. he then despawns and a named Npc spawns. her name is Renux Herkanor she is a lvl 50 female rogue that quads for 200 and procs clockwork poison. you need to get alot of mages and necro to kill her for she wont attack pets and can be outrun by sow. she does not attack pets or summon. Gluck, btw she drops a few things rogues need for epic but they do not need this weapon so kill her with a rogue doing epic and ask to loot it.
