Silly Stats
# Apr 09 2004 at 9:18 AM Rating: Decent
The power of this robe is not in the origional stats, (i'd take Netted Kelp for the +10 sta and put a basic int aug on it if that were the case.

The aug slots are what's really impressive, BA3, FT2,3 etc. These are always slot 1 or 2 or 3 and since most non-ldon armor only has slot type 7 ..

The power is in the augs IMHO

Why would anyone pay AP to get 28 Int on an item? I would think that any int caster, a wiz especially, would have put a +50 mana aug into slot 2...or at least a +20HP +20MP.

Not much else you could do with the slot one tho, without some lucky drops (I have a +12HP that I would put in there).

Necros Tanking

There is a little bit too be said about a Necros ability too stand up too a hard hitter. I have pulled many a agro off a overloaded Tank and took the add down with nothing but a combination of Touch of Mujaki and Neurotoxin and a Improved damage 4 Incense Burner. I find the concept of a little more AC as preaty much irrelevent. A fast and powerful lifetap and AA Damage mitigation gets you allot farther indeed. One shouldn't underestimate a Necros ability too get a group out of serious trouble. We can't nuke as hard as Wiz's by far, but our mana regen is allot higher, = more nukes, and we have lifetaps that substitute as soft nukes and keep us alive. I stood toe too toe with a summoning Valiant Spirt in HoH for well over a min while he nailed me with 800 hp pops. I survived, he didn't. I won't be doing it again soon, but one thing shouldn't be in question and thats the survivability of a good Necro in tough fight.
The Look on the Robe

As some of you requested...

The look on the robe is Black about exactly the same as the Froglok Bonecaster Robe.

Hope this helps

What's this robe look like?
AC
# Nov 11 2003 at 10:12 AM Rating: Default
As a necro and a pure caster I would welcome more AC. I often have to tank adds or take over for tank when cleric low on mana and can do it much better then any other class. AC would definatly help me since I am maxxed out in CA and LR would be the only way for me to take less damage. AC along with DEX STA AGI HP are all usefull to casters not just INT and MANA. These commonly thought of as "melee" stats are just as important to the high level caster (at least necros) as they are the melee type classes. AC is important to any class that has ever been hit with melee damage.

RE: AC
# Jan 20 2004 at 5:35 PM Rating: Default
obiously you have never played a necro, I dont mind sharing my mana from time to time, but a necro is MUCH more efficent using his own mana than giving it to someone else, For instance to cast any mana transfer spell: lets say one that gives 100 mana to another player, costs a necro about 300 mana to cast it, thats just plain stupid to do that on a regular basis, with that same 300 mana I can cast a 1300 damage nuke (on a bad day). You do the math, if its going to save the party, or get the party recovery time down after a wipe, sure,Ill share my mana, but if you a cleric in my group you had better be able to manage your own mana.

You can tank adds better than any other class?

Really?
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 08 2004 at 5:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yes necros are the greatest off tanking class in all of norrath just ask one they'll tell you...mwahahahaha

This link is the original robe, that had 2/2/3 augment slots. It's no longer availible off vendors in game, though anyone who purchased it before the item change kept their version of it.
WTF
# Oct 10 2003 at 11:14 AM Rating: Default
Why the hell are casters worrying about AC? That should be the least of your problems. You're not a melee class nor a tank. Enchanters might be able to whine about AC, but regardless with our HP if something gets on us we can't handle to begin with we're dead. a small amount of AC isn't gonna make a difference. 12 to resists, 110 mana on the robe, 90 hp and 3 slots to improve it as you see fit, ***** the ac. This is a pretty damn robe if you don't got 60k to be spending on the elemental robes or don't wanna waste your mana. 'sides, i'm maxed out on INT as it is
RE: WTF
# Oct 24 2003 at 10:25 AM Rating: Default
As a chanter that is in the fight early, every bit of AC is a good thing. I usually have the agro before the mob is in camp, I stand on the tank, and don't run. by the time the mob gets to us (me and tank) it is tashed and slowed (normal grouping) and I am down at least 1 ruin. We pull fast and hard AC and HPs are almost the most important thing, and is all I am looking to upgrade, I have a Good mana Pool and INT/CHA are maxed for several lvls to come. I don't raid much and when I do I am normally a Buff BiT¢h

AC on an enchanter is pointless. Specially in ldon at 65. The mobs ATR is so high that unless you have 1200 or more AC it wont make one squat bit of difference. I'd be willing to bet the soft cap for casters is around 800 ac anyway.

If you have 1200 AC then you don't need LDoN armor. You probably have Elemental stuff!

Hitpoints is far more important for enchanters and buy you much more. Buying the combat AAs (reduce damage/hits) are much more worth while than AC on anything.

Agreed, every chanter should buy Combat Agility and Lightning Reflexes as soon as they can, they will save you far more than any amount of AC will. Your AC means jack squat to the ATK rating higher level mobs have. Every little bit helps, but I wouldn't be going out of my way for AC.
RE: WTF
# Jan 15 2004 at 4:10 PM Rating: Decent
Semi-Agree, As an Enchanter have a shield with 50ac over a shield with 10ac kinda noticed that outa 10 hits after rune gone down i only got hit about 6-7 times stead of the normal 8-9 so ac does help. But the first time i get a chance to get shield with better stats ill probably jump on it and traid my 40ac for stats. AA's do make a much BIGGER difference than ac.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 10 2003 at 2:23 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The 110 mana doesnt make up for the low ac and low int. This is rec lvl 65 robe and at this level which I am I wear better and if you aren't in a guild that raids then you can buy an earth air or fire player made robe for around 45k. Take you less time to exp and make that cash than to win enuf adventures to get this which is no drop and the others can be sold if you get better and recoup the cash.
RE: bah
# Oct 10 2003 at 1:01 PM Rating: Good
I couldn't agree less. First of all, who is making 45kpp in a month is not the norm.

Second, Robe of Ancient Earth has less Mana and the extra 5 int hardly makes up for a loss of 60 mana.
Besides, as un uber as I am, I'm still not hurting for int.

If you raid, there are better items. If not, then, I'm less convinced. Once you add an FTII aug from Miraguls (510 points) and the 2 type 2 buffs of your choice, this is a pretty solid robe.

I do wish it could be sold back to vendors, but I also find LDON a lot more fun than other places.
Graphic's?

I do agree that there should be maybe a little more AC on those.... Sure would be nice then... They are pretty kick *** as is if you add the right augments.
18 AC for 1492 AP?
# Oct 09 2003 at 1:38 PM Rating: Default
Ok for 1492 Adventure Points the AC on this sucks! I think I would find better ways to spend the points. 30 to 40AC is what I would expect after looking at the other classes armor upgrades. Casters seem to have the raw end of the deal with the LDoN armor.

Umm ok 110 mana > 30-40 ac
aug's
# Oct 09 2003 at 1:07 PM Rating: Default
I could have sworn this had 2 slot 2's and 1 slot 3...

does anyone know what would be the best combination of augments for this robe...I was thinking maybe regen5 or ft3 and a 40hp aug.

There are now two versions of this robe. All the robes purchased before the patch were reverted back to 2/2/3 for slots; anything purchased now after the patch is a 1/2/3.
RE: aug's
# Oct 13 2003 at 10:43 AM Rating: Decent
It did before the patch, but Sony juggled the augs around on most armor because players were making armor that Sony deemed to be "too powerful." i.e. Some people were making 200hp breastplates.
