SS Arms Effect
# Dec 19 2003 at 4:08 AM Rating: Decent
As of the latest patch, all items that had an effect that did nothing but restore STA have been changed (since the STA bar no longer exists). The effect on these arms is now a clicky Serpent Sight (Infravision) with a 2.5 second casting time.

The sad thing is, even though I'm a Wood Elf and have Infravision by default (and can get Ultravision whenever I want with a click of the DE Mask), I'll still almost certainly get more use out of this effect than I did out of Invigor. I don't think I ever found a use for that effect except when in Kedge Keep.

Considering only one bard race gets infravision, this was a foolish effect for this item. It should have been given ultravision, imo.

Only one bard race?

Wood elf, Half-Elf.

I believe he meant only one bard race doesn't get infravision. So please make this ultravision. Ah well.

Hmmm... I used the Invigor effect all the time in group. With haste song running and wearing a 21% haste item, dual weilding drained the stamina bar to zero on almost every fight in a 50+ level group. I would click it on myself and all the tanks between battles to keep their stamina bar refreshed. I suppose I won't miss it since there is no longer a STA bar, but I really wish they'd made it group ultravision, or even group serpent sight rather than single target.

Doc, if you *ever* used the click effect of Vigor as an elf, then you already did get more use out of them pre-nerf than you ever will now. An elf casting Serpent Sight on them self is just too wierd! ;)

Actually the thing I don't get is, why not just change all those items to an effect that restores Endurance now? Wouldn't that make a *lot* more sense?

I don't think there are supposed to be items that restore Endurance... Since Endurance is used for 'powering' disciplines, an effect like that would be overpowered. Or even if they plan to have such effects, they'd be on super high end gear, I figure.

Note that I never said the Serpent Sight effect is self-only... You can cast it on others. Might be useful to help out some night blind players once in a while. Also, it'll let me take advantage of some night blind illusions without losing all my vision for it.

Yeah, I know, still crappy, but still better than Invigor, IMO. =p

Grrr people high enough to have this armour (yes, even by saving for and buying it ) should know the difference between procs, clicky effects and worn effects.

ONLY a weapon can PROC, its an effect that goes off randomly while you're swinging it. DEX will help an effect proc more often

CLICKIES are those items that can be right clicked at any time to activate the effect. The level at which you can activate these items vary, I beleive the SS vambraces are at 45.

WORN effects like the EB on the SS gauntlets work as soon as you wear it. You dont get an icon, but the effect is in place.

So STFU and dont waste our reading time if you're going to post fantasy drivel about armour "procing". If you DONT KNOW, DONT POST
Click, not constant
# Feb 12 2002 at 10:49 PM Rating: Decent
I dinged 45 today, and was disapointed to see that my Sta bar was dropping. It is not a constant effect unfortunately, you DO have to target and click to get the effect, and of course you have to stop singing to cast it. Not useful during a fight one bit, because you have to target the person you want to cast Invigor on. Oh well, good AC at least.
Nice, but...

Nice item, but the Sleeves of the Ancient are close in AC and also have strength and charisma. 16ac +3 str +8 cha. This drops in FM off of Varithyx (sp). About a lvl 28 mob. Just make sure no one is running the cycle, and if they are, they might let you loot them. Druids usually are doing the cycle and they have no use for the Sleeves if they kill Varithyx. IMHO
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 16 2001 at 6:30 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I just got these last night. This is not right clicked effect. This is a constant effect.
RE: Right click?
# Jun 13 2002 at 3:16 PM Rating: Decent
it IS a right click effect...please don't post wrong information Hozay......
#Anonymous, Posted: May 24 2001 at 9:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) All class specific armor from Kunark procs at lvl 45. That includes all singing steel armor except the guants..they proc at like 15 or something.

# Sep 26 2003 at 6:13 PM Rating: Decent
*sigh* idiots who have no idea posting again... armor doesn't proc... it's clickable... and this is cickable @ 45... gauntlets are worn effect starting @ 1...
RE: singing steel
# Oct 22 2001 at 5:46 PM Rating: Decent
Yes I believe they work at lvl 1 because I have them as a lvl 12 bard and they are a constant because when I go underwater they work

The gauntlets do not proc; they are a permanent enduring breath effect. Like most permanent effect items, I believe that any bard, (regardless of level), gains the beneficial effect, as 'proc level' applies only to right-clickable and/or randomly proccing items.
Uses for Effect?

Hello All,

Seeing as we have a Staman-Regeneration song, why would we ever use the arms? Perhaps to save a spell stone?

In the case of Kedge Keep (or any underwater fighting situation) I find that keeping the level 3 Stamania (or the 34 Mana/Regen/Stam song) song as part of my twist to be much more effective.

Also, the arms (as well as boots and Bracer) work at level 45.
invigor, not invigorate
# Apr 22 2001 at 1:28 PM Rating: Decent
invigor is a stamina replenishment, invigorate is a 100hp heal

Yeah, my bard is currently at level 40 and still waiting for his SS helm and SS boots to produce their effect. His SSoY proc'ed at 37, sweet proc too. )
RE: re: effect
# Apr 03 2001 at 4:09 AM Rating: Default
Actually, that's not correct. Singing steel effects cannot be used until 46. This is true at least for the boots and sleeves. I had both and they only worked once I hit 46. :) Not sure where you got the number 37.
