Well the same goes for Trolls, we have to find an Ogre smith.
Dorfs
# Jan 08 2003 at 12:49 PM Rating: Default
Well I could see how this would be, many master smiths are dwarves ... they seem to excel at it and in any fantasy book I have read so far the dwarf is also the master craftsman that everybody goes to due to their superior skill ...

Anyway my point is I could see a tight knit group of dwarves that passes down secrets for making armor of all types and sizes for anyone to wear ... for profit and pride ...

First place i go if I need quality gear is a dwarf .. 8) .. of course I am a haffer ..

If anyone is making this stuff on the 7th Hammer send Lochru a tell. Maybe we can work something out on a full suit.

Lochru Silvermist

Shouldn't Dwarves be able to wear this? This is, after all, Dwarven Cultural smithing.

Dwarves can not wear this because the required deity on this armor is Bristlebane. Dwarven clerics can only worship Brell.

...which begs the question: Why would a Dwarven smith make a cultural armor no one from his culture could wear?

From the standpoint of PLAYERS, the answers would be "to make money," or "to twink my (fill in race) cleric." However, from the standpoint of racial role-playing, it makes no sense. The various races are supposed to be quite close-minded when it comes to their cultural trade secrets. So why would ANY race make a piece of cultural equipment that could never be worn by a member of their own race?

They are xenophobic, not homophobic. The gnomes, halflings and dwarves (well, ok gnomes and dwarves anyway) rever Brell above all others IIRC.
As to why they'd make something for a person who isn't their brother by blood...well, because VI is too lazy to put in cultural tradeskills for all trades and races. (Otherwise there would be a bunch of PO'd gnome and halfling clerics out there. BTW, did anyone find it odd that warriors and paladins were not listed on the usable classes? Now there would be a more valid gripe...)

I acually found it odd that rogues can't wear because I'm a dwarven rogue who worships Bristlebane. Oh well guess I will just have to over charge clerics for this armor. j/k

Rogues can't wear this particular BP because it's plate. However, Bristlebane-worshipping half elven, dwarven, halfling, and gnome rogues can wear the Mischievous Chainmail armor.

They would make this armor to sell, they are very close mouthed about the secrets of making it, that way X race HAS to go to them to acquire it... It does makes sense (not that Verant though of this reason I'm sure).
