This is bought from a vendor in SolB(or A, cant remember) for 5-7kpp depending on you faction/cha.

# Sep 02 2001 at 3:38 AM Rating: Decent
Is it the vendor in the temple? Ir not where, and whats his name??? In the Temple, SolA, SolB? Or is he in Lavastorm?
Where does it drop?
# Aug 17 2001 at 1:01 AM Rating: Default
I have heard that it does drop but you can really just buy it.
Carrying PP
# Aug 09 2001 at 10:24 AM Rating: Decent
Another way to carry loads of PP (at a cost) is to just by gems (like rubies) and sell them to the gnome vendor. You loose a few plat on the exchange, but it makes carrying that much plat ALOT safer and easier.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 04 2001 at 5:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I don't know if it has always been this way, but Tink bags are No Drop. I just left Gabbie camp 15 minutes ago. So yes I'm sure. It is No Drop. So if you can't sneak, you better not botch your gnome faction, or else you won't be gettin this bag.

# Nov 01 2001 at 12:26 AM Rating: Default
Hmmm. On Halloween, one of these dropped in Ocean of Tears at the GM event there. The one I looted is no-drop (there were no no-drop items inside - that makes any bag no-drop). Got no confirmation window of it being no-drop when it was looted either.

I looted one of these on Halloween night from the Captain in OOT (GM Event) and it is NOT a NO DROP item. It dropped along with a PoS 2-hander sword the captain was wielding.

Um, no, actually the Bag of the Tinkerers is not no-drop. It is not even lore. The image above is the correct one at this time.

The T-Boots (travelers boots) sold by the same merchant are no-drop, however, so if you want those you will have to buy them yourself.

Best to bind at the merchant on a PVP server. <laughs out loud> I couldn't imagine leaving the bank with that much coin on Tallon...

from my experience messin around with different factions and cha, a 105 cha and an indifferent con is enough to get you the best prices in game. i play a chanter who is a master jeweler, so it didnt take me much to try several combinations out on a few vendor to find this out. so anything over 105, when it comes to cha, is only good for a class that can charm things, (even then it can be argued that the added help of it is hard to notice till you get over 150, at least from my experience as a charm kiting chanter, hehe) hope that save some ppl some pp in the long run when considering buying that extra cha gear when they are planning on making big purchases. ;D

Hey, your a wiz. Go there before taking the bank and bind yourself there. Then GG or TL however you wanna call it, back to your local banking institution. Withdraw your standard amount and Gate(lvl 4 spell) back to your bind point...Viola!!! You just moved a ton of cash and only took a few minutes.
Idea!

Hey I got an idea why dont people who have problems carrying that much have their friend duel and kill them then just drag their corpse with the cash on it to whereever they need to go.

Actually, I believe the poster of this idea meant for the person to kill them IN Sol A, and then drag their corpse to the merchant for them - so please don't set your posting to Auto-Flame =)

Yes, but even if he were to kill him IN Sol A, he'd still have to GO to Sol A with all the weighted money, which kinda makes the corpse-dragging trip from zone line to vendor mute.

Has anyone ever tried to tinker this bag? It can probabally be done if the correct recipe is found. OR maybe they're just poking at us, by calling it The Bag of the Tinkerers. Well, tell me what you think.

i think someones been playing fallout2 a little too much (or another similar game)

in fallout 2 if you see a merchant with somethin you can't afford you can steal it from him...or just kill him(and take baad faction)

umm gee lemme think...NO

seeing as merchants give to xp and leave no corpse it'd kinda be difficult to get a drop from them =P

I hear this bag is just really expensive. However the 100% weight reduction is very appealling. I just about have enough plat for it now(5000 or so), just don't have the charisma for it. It is so tempting having that much to go buy a Thick Banded Belt instead. Decisions Decisions. Think I will get the bag first.

if ye don't have good faction/cha you can prolly pay a chanter 50p to buy it for you and save a bunch o' money

5250 is the lower price you can get the bag from the vendor for.

I recommend this over the TBB ;)

I wanna know if you can own more than one of these, from the pic above I don't see anything saying it is lore, but then again not all of these shots are acurate. Anybody know?
Bag of the Tinkerers
# May 25 2001 at 8:00 AM Rating: Decent
I got my bag last night and I can say for sure that the Gnome that sells it is not in Ak'Anon anymore. I hunted for an hour and even with my tracking skill maxed, could never pick him up that way either. I went to Sol A and picked him up on tracking immediately. The trip down to his little fort is long and winding. Be prepared to clear the way of many Goblins who are agro and can see through Invis. I cast SOW and Strength on myself before going in because my weight went from 65 to 196 stones due to the 5500 plat I was carrying. I also wore all the Charisma items that I own to help with the price. He charged me 5320 plat for the bag with my Charisma at 104. Just for fun, I took off my Charisma stuff and at my base 70 Charisma, he asked 6330pp for the bag. A whopping 1K increase in the price.
As a level 51 Druid, it's real easy to do this alone, but others can if you get a friend to SOW and Strengh you. The spells should easily last long enough to get the bag and after buying it, you're light as a feather.
I love the bag and will keep all my spare heavy equipment in it, as well as all the heaviest loot. Good Luck getting yours!

Ok, while I have no proof that nothing in the game drops these, do you think Verant would allow something to? Think about it. We have to go on a camp of 7 HOURS just to get a single piece of a small part of a quest (not refering to any in particular, ToV...) Why would they be kind enough to put it as a drop on something?

#Anonymous, Posted: May 10 2001 at 3:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This bag is like all weight reducing bags, right? It only reduces the weight of the heaviest item in it correct? The way these posts are going it seems like everyone is saying that they completely reduce all items inside by 100%.

Monks...
# Apr 27 2001 at 3:43 PM Rating: Decent
In reference to monks in general and this bag... This bag is great for everyone, yes! But, monks must remain below (correct me if I'm wrong monks)14 weight total or they begin losing AC and ATK. This is critical since unlike other melee classes, they can't jack their AC up a lot through armor. Even if they can equip it, they start to lose their strong defense skills as they go over 14, even if they have like STR of 150... It won't make a difference... As a consequence my Iksar monk I once had couldn't make much money at all unless he specifically hunted things that dropped light but valuable items... However, when I'd group up with a Mage who could summon weight-less bags, I was able to actually loot and make some money. I hope this helps... 8) This would also be really valuable to those who wear really heavy armor and therefore can't afford to loot because they'll become encumbered.
RE: Monks...
# Oct 21 2001 at 3:01 PM Rating: Default
this would be GREAT bag for my monk or warrior
monk being that he can't loot without going over weight due to the 14 weight thing...
and warrior because my warrior has 140str and is 1point away from being encumbered holding nothing but all his armout a couple backpacks and about 50p
but other than that this bag is absolutely excellent for any char,

oh i also got a nec that likes carrying around a backpack full of rusty halbreds (halbreds weigh 14st. each
RE: Monks...
# Apr 30 2001 at 11:18 AM Rating: Decent
Aye, it's true. Monks have a weight limit but, with a recent patch the base weight is 14. Monks now gain an additional allowance of 1 every 15 levels. It is damn pricey though and it will be a while before I can afford one.

#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 27 2001 at 12:03 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Drool mmmmmmmm too bad I'm only 15 and can't afford to get one
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 25 2001 at 9:00 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is great for monk, youpee we are now going to make more money if you monk understand, hehe..
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 26 2001 at 4:21 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why do monks constantly think they are the only people that have ever seen the "you are encumbered" message? I am so sick of every post on this site that has anything to do with weight being related to monks and how it is good or bad for them. Use youre head, if it weighs a lot its not if it doesnt its good. You are not offering any insight to anyone. If im not mistaken that is exactly what these posts are supposedly for. So please Monks just shut up about the weight thing already.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 30 2001 at 3:43 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) uhm, dude, monks hardley even seen that encumber msg seening as how we try to stay under 14 stones, and not only that your post was like stupid any way you read it..
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 27 2001 at 1:09 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you my friend are a moron, they have to stay under a certain weight or they start to lose ac and atk so dont complain that monks need light stuff, you truly are showing your ignorance... until u know about the class dont talk ****..

So us wimpy wizards probably have to bind in his room to actually be able to get there with the money. I know that I can barely move if at all with that much PP on me.
RE: to o oo h h hee eav vy

For non bind/port classes .. Get a friend that is level enough to get in with you.. have him bind there.. have him go get the $ out of the bank you gave him before you set out.. and he gates back , hands you the money, you buy the bag, you got the bag and no-one had to walk encumbered? might work i think.

#Anonymous, Posted: May 22 2001 at 6:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You moron, hes a Wizard! Ever been a caster? Theres way to much to worry about to even consider getting enough str items to carry that much plat. Base strength is only 70 or so as it is. Furthermore, its a dungeon goof, you can't sow indoors. So, in your effort to not only humiliate the individual who posted the comment but to also try to seem so smart and experienced, you have only made an *** out of yourself, "duh". I recomend bringing a good sized party of good friends or guild mates (i.e. melee types for the strength) to get your bag, have them carry that heavey plat. Don't waste your time trying to run to the room before sow wears off and buying and camping strength items that you won't need after you buy the bag. Save your time for int and mana items.
RE: to o oo h h hee eav vy
# May 24 2001 at 2:39 PM Rating: Default
Actually sow does work indoors, but in can only be cast outside. And my guess would be that he would mostly need sow for the journey from the bank (probably freeport) to Sol A which is all outdoors.
I'm not really sure how much 5300 PP weighs, but sow would sure help. Could try str buffs also to help.
When I finally can afford mine, I'll have a friend bind at the merchant and then walk to the bank and gate back with my money so he can buy it for me.
hmmm
# May 28 2001 at 3:14 AM Rating: Default
5000pp weighs 125 pounds. Most folks will be quite encumbered with this load of pp. Watch folks headed to and from the tunnel in EC. The ones moving really slow have lots of pp on them. With some skill, you get an idea of how much they are carrying by the (complete lack of) speed that they are moving with.
RE: to o oo h h hee eav vy
# May 25 2001 at 12:08 AM Rating: Default
Aye, sow does work indoors, and you can only cast it outside, and str buffs would help, but lets think, how long are the buffs gonna last? To rely on those buffs to last until you get to the merchant would be a bad choice. Binding in there is just a waste of time and effort, why run all the way there and back again when you can just grab a few guildies to help you out? Oh, and with 5300pp you would be quite weighed down, with 70 str and 3250 gp on me, with no items on me but a shadowed rapier and a ring of the ancients, i was encumbered, add 2000 more and I would have hardly moved. Unless you cast your own str buffs, and good ones at that, bring some friends to help :)
RE: to o oo h h hee eav vy
# Jun 20 2001 at 11:20 AM Rating: Decent
If you can actually purchase the bag you only have to worry for about half of the way. The first half of the journey to this vendor is with goblins. Also, I believe only the higher level goblin magic users can see through invisible. You probably will not encounter any of these goblins on the way to the vendor. Once you get to the hallway where you encounter mechs and gnomes you will no longer encounter goblins. If you have strength buff it only has to last until you get to the vendor, you should be much lighter afterward having spent the money you were carrying.

I have made this run before and I didn't have to recast any buffs, nor did my SOW run out. One other buff you will probably want is levitate of some form. It beats accidently falling into lava.
RE: sow time
# Jun 08 2001 at 2:55 AM Rating: Default
SOW lasts up to 36 minutes depending on the casters level, you should be able to get there in that time I would hope. The point of binding there is that druids and wizzies can bind there, port to bank, then gate back, will take a whole minute.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 20 2001 at 4:54 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i have spent 40k just to get jewelcraft up a few points, why not just fill all of your inventory spots with one?
