Nice BP
# Aug 22 2004 at 6:44 PM Rating: Decent
Once you get 760 pts in the EF theme, then you can collect the rest of your points from any area....you don't have to specifically get 760 EF pts over and over again to purchase multiple pieces of the set. I have both the Malevolent BP and Greaves, and I have a total of 828 pts earned in EF so far.

That said, this BP is an excellent upgrade to the Death Embracer's Chestplate from BB. The combos listed above are all excellent ideas for upgrades, and I am working on points for the slot 2 & 3 augs now.

Here are a few suggestions for a tank. Please note that the highest point items were not always taken. These combinations are obtainable with up to 760 points in any given dungeon.

Armor piece:
Mir 760 Malevolent Breastplate of Suffering
AC:63, Str:10, Dex:9, Wis:8, Int:8, HP:75, Mana:75, FR:9, DR:9, PR:9, type1,type2,type3 War, Pal, Clr, Shd, Brd Chest

Type 1 slot:
Ruj 357 All Peerless Sphere of Fortitude
Lore, Sta:10

Type 2 slot choices:
Guk 510 Aug2 Magnetite Fragment of Fortitude
Notlore, Sta:10, PR:5
-or-
Mmc 510 Aug2 Tainted Soil of Battle Stance
Str:7, Sta:7
-or-
Mmc 510 Aug2 Eroded Soil of Tenacity
HP:25

Type 3 slot choices:
Mir 760 Aug3 Ice Prism of Avoidance
Lore, Mod:Dodge+8%
-or-
Mmc 510 Aug3 Gravestone of Aggression
Lore, Effect:VengeanceIII
-or-
Tak 510 Aug3 Shiny Sandstone of Reconstruction
Lore, Effect:Regeneration V (worn)

Can turn into this: (3 examples listed)

Malevolent Breastplate of Suffering (augmented)
AC:63, Str:10, Sta:20, Dex:9, Wis:8, Int:8, HP:75, Mana:75, FR:9, DR:9, PR:14,
Mod: Dodge +8%

-or-

Malevolent Breastplate of Suffering (augmented)
AC:63, Str:17, Sta:17, Dex:9, Wis:8, Int:8, HP:75, Mana:75, FR:9, DR:9, PR:9,
Effect: Vengeance III

-or-

Malevolent Breastplate of Suffering (augmented)
AC:63, Str:10, Sta:10, Dex:9, Wis:8, Int:8, HP:100, Mana:75, FR:9, DR:9, PR:9,
Effect: Regeneration V (worn)

Any of these combinations would be awesome. Many more combos are possible but I like these 3 best personally.

Great write-up, Barli! I'm looking at this as an upgrade to my Fierce Heraldric BP. With your suggestions, this looks like a feasible alternative to ornate.

Rumor...T or F?
# Sep 18 2003 at 1:00 PM Rating: Default
I heard through the pipeline that there was a way to modify the slot types. Was wandering if it was even a possibility to modify a Type 1 slot to a Type 2 slot, or something to that sort.

Can anyone confirm or shoot down my hopes?

Bang!

No way to modify slot types. However, the DEVELOPERS did nerf the slot types on some of the armor. For example, the Roayl Attendant BP USED to have 2 type 2 slots, and a type 3. They nerfed it so it is now the same slots listed on this.
really 760 points?
# Sep 17 2003 at 7:32 PM Rating: Decent
I noticed some of the other pieces in the Malevolent line are also 760 points. I kind of find it amazing that a BP of this caliber can be obtained by just completing 15 adventures (at lvl 65).
Point costs for Clerics
# Sep 17 2003 at 7:19 PM Rating: Excellent
Initial BP cost: 760AP

Type 1 Augmentations:
+6 Wisdom looted, or spend 1150AP for +40 mana.

Type 2 Purchasable Augmentations:
Zone:Ruj, Cost:1150AP, Type:Aug2, Name:Crystal Prism of Perception, Stats: Sta:10, Wis:10

Zone:Guk, Cost:1150AP, Type:Aug2, Name:Magnetite Prism of Stoutness, Stats: Str:7, Cha:7, Wis:7, Int:7

Type 3 Purchasable Augmentations:
Zone:Mir, Cost:510AP, Type:Aug3, Name:Brilliant Enchanted Prism, Stats: Effect:Flowing Thought II (worn)

So, for 2420AP I can get an AC: +63 Str: +10 Dex: +9 Wis: +8 Int: +8 Fire Resist: +9 Disease Resist: +9 Poison Resist: +9 HP: +75 Mana: +75 breastplate that ends up with these stats:

AC: +63 Str: +10 Dex: +9 Wis: +24 Int: +8 Sta: +10 Fire Resist: +9 Disease Resist: +9 Poison Resist: +9 HP: +75 Mana: +75 Effect: Flowing Thought II (worn)

I went with the Wis: +6 for Type 1, and the first of the two Type 2 augmentations for those calculations. That's a lot of time spent doing LDoN Adventures, but the EXP is nice, I'll be dinging away as I go, and in the end I'll have a really sweet chest item.

Hmmm.....

Level 58 Cleric LFG. LDoN Adventures only. Zebuxoruk. :D

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!
Forget planes playing for me for now! If you need an SK on Povar just hollar! Wow this is one of the best BP that I have ever seen that was actually within reason to obtain as a semi hardcore player in a tiny guild that can't kill dragons.

Oh and please dont hurt my feelings by saying in order to get 760 I am gonna have to part of 36 player raids to do it.

This BP is great and all but lacks Sta..so i have found +12 in Sta augs (+6each)..has anyone found better
With 12 sta this will definantely make for a nice Bp.

Also need to be aware that you can not put two identical augmentations on the same item. So you could not put 2 +6 Stamina Augmentations on this item. Best off doing what Xaanru suggests, +6 sta aug in slot 1, a double or even triple stat/save/hp/mana in slot 2, and your choice in slot 3.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 17 2003 at 2:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'd rather it have a few more HP, but it's definately not a bad buy for those that can't get better. I'll be sticking with my Vindi BP, but it's a close call.

Thing to remember is the types of slots. Type one will only hold the single stat augments, so lets say you hit it with a +6 sta. type two slots fit the multi stat augments, so you can add one of those points purchased ones with 3 different stats, stamina AND 2 others. Type 3 slots are for effects, so you could add the 2 point damage shield (shield of pain), a vengeance effect, or even +2 regen.

Of course, as a cleric, I see a +6 wis augment, a multi stat augment with wis and mana, and an effect of FT2 (best I have heard of purchasable with points). Now tell me that wouldn't just be a sweet little setup for the non-elemental flagged cleric Smiley: smile

is this 760 points from Miragul's or from anywhere?
RE: points
# Sep 17 2003 at 12:57 PM Rating: Decent
Yes this is a theme item from Miragul, you need 760 pts specifically from Miragul to purchase it. Shared pts only work on "non-theme" items (which you will see as you open up the merchant window).
RE: points
# Sep 17 2003 at 12:21 PM Rating: Decent
I believe that the points are specific. I have done all my adventures in Mistmoore and have many choices when I go to the Adventure merchant. However, when I go to the the merchants at other camps I have only the beginning choices available. This leads me to believe you must have points specific to the camp.
RE: points
# Sep 17 2003 at 1:44 PM Rating: Excellent
The way I understand it is this: The game will keep track of how many points you have earned in each of the themes, and how many points you have currently, total. These numbers are not necessarily the same. So, while you would have to initially earn 760 points in Miragul's in order to buy this breastplate, (or any of the other pieces in the set of the same name, I believe they all cost 760 points) the game would remember that you have earned 760 points in Miragul's, and all those things would still be available to buy, as long as you have the right number of points. Soooo, you could then go and earn 760 points in any of the other dungeons or any combination thereof, and then come back to Everfrost and get another piece of this armor set. Basically, to get an item from a certain theme, you only have to earn the right number of that theme's points once, and thereafter you can use points from any theme, cuz the game remembers that you have already earned access to this item, and any others of the same point cost.

Perhaps a bit complicated to some, but I think I got the point across.
RE: points
# Oct 02 2003 at 10:43 PM Rating: Default
Wow, can you say one big run-on!

Its this simple, If you earn adventure points in one theme then you have to spend them in that theme. The only exception to this is if you buy spells, or maybe a few other items. You can use the points from any theme at any LDoN merchant,in any of the theme zones to purchase these items.

From what I have seen, armor is theme specific so if you want a BP that is on a merchant in Everfrost that is where you will have to fight.

I haven't been able to confirm this, but I think that points are generic, regardless of where you earned them. However, I believe you can only purchase themed items if you have earned enough points in that particular theme to cover the cost. For example, if you earned 720 points in Everfrost, and 720 points in Butcherblock, I suspect that you would still be able to buy this breastplate, and one other piece of the armor set, even though 720 points were earned in another zone. If you really could only spend points in the zone you earned them in, I believe Sony would (crosses fingers) have the foresight to give you some means of KNOWING which zone you earned your current points in. Right now, you can only see how many points you earned in each theme, regardless of how many were spent.

You are correct. It's a throwback to the "esteem points" from beta.

Say I earned 500pts in Mistmoore and then bought a 500 pt item from the MM Merchants. Then I earn 250pts in Ruj. Hills. I can now buy a 250pt item in Ruj Hills OR spend them in MM.

If I next go and earn 1000 points in Guk, I could now spend them up to a 1000pt Guk item, a 500pt MM item or a 250pt Ruj Hills item (or combonations thereof leading up to 1000pts).

Hope that makes sense. The short of it is you need to earn the points at the camp to buy the thing once, after that any points up to that level are generic.

They want you to be 65 because to be fair if you had these stats at a lower level you would be over powered.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 16 2003 at 7:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why are they assuming that we'll be 65 to earn 760 AP? Or do they think we'll need to be 65 to actually succeed on adventures?
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 16 2003 at 8:06 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Their not... its a nice BP, and according to its stats, you should be 65 or so to recieve the full benefit of it.

I see your point, but if you do some calculations of your current sk lvl to the rec. lvl of the bp, your sk would recieve a pretty good bp from the stats avaiable. They would be(roundedup).
54ac 8str, 7dex, 6wis/int, 60hp/mana, 7svf, 7svd, 7svp

Say others would be better? like what? Wind worn perhaps?
