I sold mine on Karana for 200PP, which seemed like a nice low price to both me and the person who bought it. +8 to all saves is a nice item to have, especially if you augment it.

how much is this thing worth
Hmmm

Put the plus 5 WIS or INT augmentation in this and any caster would love to wear it until they get better.

Also augmentations for STR, DEX, and STA which would make it decent for a head basher. Just add what you need most at the time.

aye personally i think the recommended lvl is too high. On a side note it droped when the average lvl in my group was 52. We decided it was resistance gear worthy, being that none of us are of uber guild and lack the plat to go on shopping sprees, we never turn down usefull gear. Ya know the saying "dont look a gift horse in the mouth"

Quick question, not even relating to EQ: wtf does "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth" even mean? I've heard it quite a bit and I understand the context, but it just doesn't make much sense.

Actually, in specific reference to horses, and not other animals, one would look inside its mouth to determine the age of the animal. If you're really interested, go to your local veterinarian and ask about it--chances are he/she will have an age chart depicting the erosion of a horse's teeth as it gets older.
Like Vahsh said, looking into its mouth would be an insult to the giver of the gift.
So, even though the animal was a gift, you would in essence be getting a pig in a poke, as you wouldn't necessarily know the animal's age until you got it home.
(The reference "pig in a poke" refers to not buying something sight unseen, and comes from a dishonest method of trading pigs. A person would buy the pig and the seller would put the animal in a sack--or poke--and give it to the buyer. A dishonest trader--this was associated historically as being a practice of gupsies--would place either a cat or a rock in the poke while the buyer was not looking. Thus, this is the opposite side of the coin from the prior old saying, for if the buyer did not inspect the contents he might not have received his expected goods.)

Your explanation was spirited and well done. Hopefully it shall remain here for posterity. In my absence from this board though I figured out what it meant, but thank you for the clarification.

Its a referance from back in the day when animals were traded and use to buy things. You can tell the health of an animal by looking in its mouth for sores bad teeth things like that. And you did not look a Gift horse in the mouth because it was 1) Insulting to the person who gave it to you (think of it like swaping free cash with one of those pens that checks for fakes) 2) because its free and anything free is better then nothing
