How do you build back up your faction in Qeynos after you complete this quest? Or is there anyway to do this?

If you are talking about the corrupt quenos guard faction. kill some orc or gnolls in Highhold pass, and turn scalps in to gate captains, or kill goblins in high keep and turn in the ears. All three raise sevral factions and lower none.

Include freeport militia and Corrupt qeynos guards, as well as some of the highhold factions.

Level 16 Half Elf Druid, Vazaelle server.

Got my book and page (jester card) in Qeynos, without ever going to Halas, then headed to Highpass.
Been checking the spawn every time I log on- I play about 2 to 3 hours a night, at most; generally in the AM hours. Usually when I'd check, there would be one or two people waiting right there at the spawn- obviously AFK, but still there. I could usually tell if he was being camped by doing a /w and looking for any higher levelers- seems people below level 20/25 have rarely learned the patience to camp for 7 hours. ;) If he was camped, or wasn't spawned, and I wasn't killing in Highpass, I'd run back out to E Karana for some killing or E Commons for some trading, and check again the next night.
Eventually I checked back one night (took about a week) and no one was there, and Dylan was spawned. I hadn't really expected this, so I didn't have much of a plan on what to do if he was actually there and I was without friends or group... so I did a /w and looked for some people I knew. There were a couple people on that I recognised, and had talked to/grouped with before, and they were cool enough to come give me a hand, to make sure I didn't ***** up a shot at a 7 hour spawn. ;)
It seems Dylan likes to walk around every now and then, and he seems to go first to the cave with the rogue character in it.. he'll pause there for a moment, and then walk around and down to the water's edge, where he's aaaalll alone. Snare, DoT, nuke nuke nuke. Little help from my friends (another level 16 and a level 19), and we had him down with hardly any life lost. Got my page. ;D
He cons white at 16. The smugglers didn't bother us once, so if you can afford to be patient enough to let him walk to the water, at the risk of someone KS'ing, it's worth it. Getting killed and then coming back to find someone else looting him while you're left to looting your own corpse would be a bit more frustrating, I'd imagine. G'luck! ;D

Well i also camped this guy out after a tip from me bf. Oh well i must have gotten there right after someone had killed him because if took forever bofore he respawned. I sat there for 6 hrs. Playing gems til me eyes bled. Well my friend that told me 'bout this quest popped in to see how i was doing, and fooled around the lil' booth. He had given me some beer and i'd been drinking them cause i was reaaaaally bored. Well guess what?! Dyllin spawned when i was to drunk to even see and me friend wiggled right into him. Dyllin aggroed om me friend and friend started running for gate. Taking Dyllin with him. Well friend died of course and Dyllin was not even near his booth, where i had been calculating the times for the smugglers.

Oh well, i changed pet to earth pet and my friend popped back in and sacrificed himself to pull Dyllin back in place. As soon at red smuggler went into tunnel i sent pet who rooted Dyllin and i nuked him 3 times. Dyllin dropped dead :) And i have the book :) Gotto love these different pets!

And thanks dear Lilmer for helping me pulling that sucker back.. and im real sorry u lost your lvl doing it....

Ok, listen up guys, you do not have to waist 6 hrs and 45 min. camping this fool. that time should be used to level, which is really important. The best way to kill this guy, some people have mentioned it before but ill reiterate cause it WORKS!! go to www.everquest.com and find out when the next patch is going to happen, camp at the bandit camp the night before. then log on right after the patch finishes, no one will be in the zone, probably not many people on the server either. You log on and bam!! hes right infront of you. kill him and loot what u need. it works i did it this morning. no need to waist time camping him. thanks to those who told me about this idea, it saved me many pointless hours. Good luck to you all.

Best way is to get on during the day on a weekday. I have checked for him dozens of times, since camping 7 hours for my testament. He's been up more often than not sduring the day. Try early am, or lunch, or a day off.

While this DOES work, it is also dicey, as many of us are not home right when the servers come up... in which case it becomes a horserace to see who can log and kill him first.

My sugestion? Check him often... My wife camped him for 12 hours (Thanks to a KS'g wizard who screwed upthe first pop.) and FINALLY got her page. I, however just checked back whenever I logged in each nite and in about a week or so, found him all alone and uncamped... Nuke, Loot...
End of story. Now My cleric has his testament.

Camped Dyllin Friday night with my level 13 druid and my son's level 17 warrior. Supprised to not find anyone camping my son and I decided to wait it out. Quite a few people showed up, some invisible trying to scare us away but we stood our ground. After about 5 hours a very friendly level 35 cleric showed up saying he should pop at any moment and she just wanted to watch. So she buffed up my warrior son and we waited. Boom he popped WE FREAKED root woudln't stick so I just nuked him while my son whacked him down. Red smuggler killed me after I looted but I didn't care I already had the page. Got Jester card on 6th try. Great quest but watch out for camp stealers.

Just got my testament, he went down pretty easy at L28. I'd passed through HH many times, and never even saw him.. this time, it was late on the west coast, so when I checked, there was Dyllin all by himself. I was gonna do the root-dot-nuke process, so first I buffed up, then sat to change spells. When I was all ready and stood up, he was gone! I thought he had de-spawned, but I took a quick look around, and Dyllin was walking around. He walked all the way down the entry steps to the water's edge and waited there a bit. So I rooted him there and nuke/melee'd him quickly, out of sight of all the smuglers.

This is cheesy, I know, but this quest took about 20 minutes tonight. Me and my Druid friend were passing thru HH, to do a transfer in HK. I told him to check track, and Dylan was up, we went there, shooed away the red smuggler (red to me at 39), and murdered Dyllin in about 10 seconds...woulda been faster, but I didnt think to Backstab him first hit, just started poking him, and my bud nuked and dotted. This is a very rewarding quest, and it's not that hard at all. I reccomend anyone who can use the wisdom from this book, do this quest as soon as you can. The smuggler walks away like a minute or less after he walks there, so just root the dude, and nuke him to death, he's not that hard at all, even for someone who's the same level as him, just dont let him run to the smugglers.

there's a way to get dyllin down without getting jumped by the smugglers, since the faction change is major, but i tried this a LONG time ago, i'm not sure if it still works this way, plz if anyone can confirm. since most of you can take him down casting, JUST cast and NOTHING else. because if you cast on him in front of the smugglers, they won't attack you. DO NOT melee dyllin. oh and another thing, you can time the spawn. if he's camped, just politely ask the person/people if they can give you a tell when the kill him. then you come back in 6 <or is it 8?> hours and see if he's camped. even better binded at camp if you can, and gate back to check, fight in hh since the exp from orcs is ok, and the loot is pretty good. hope i helped...

Aaaah, that is where you are mistaken, my friend. I was dubious to the smugglers and my friend was apprehensive when we camped Mr Starshine. We sat and drank mead and worked on trade skills (my brewing is now 110, up from 80) in the 7 hours we camped him, and never even so much as got a second look from the smugglers. If you do not melee him, you will not aggro the smugglers. When Dyllin fell, we had 2 smugglers (one was still yellow to my level 49 companion) standing right next to him and they just stopped, turned and walked away. Root and blast away and you will NOT aggro the smugglers.

Camped Dyllin on and off for a couple of days and I was upset becuase he was never there. Well I realized he spawns every 6 to 8 hours. So I just bound my self there ( druid woodelf ). Then I went and did my business else where. I gated back and boom he was there. I am level 26 so he is actually pretty easy. I just rooted him, and Dotted with creeping crud, and then nuked him with careless lighting. He dropped in 2 seconds. Just beware of the other smugglers. Some conned Red to me at 26. Now I am off to Qeynos to finish the quest.
Dyllin goes on patrol

Just killed this guy the other night. As a lvl 18 shamy, non tweeked, I was scared as if I was in hell it's self. Any ways, I sat and watched him for a while. He went on some patrol and that is when I killed him. He walked into the cave area where all the other named spawns are, but then walked out and down to the water entrance. That is where I rooted him and used my DD to kill him. He broke root once and I didn't notice any partial resists on my dd. Used up all my mana and I figgure I got fairly lucky. But the thing is, u just have to wait for him to go down there where the other smugglers don't go.

A small note, I did this at level 16 (cleric btw), although I did have help (see below).

Also, I don't see why some people are saying this quest isn't worth it. For one, you can do it at a relatively low level and get an item that gives you +wis and +mana equivalent to an item that would cost several hundred plat (and several hundred plat ain't nothin' to sneeze at even up to level 30).
woot woot!
# Aug 20 2001 at 8:43 AM Rating: Decent
After camping Dyllin for 7 freaking hours the good ol' fashioned way (luckily I could watch television and still see my screen) I finally got the page and made the book. It was a superior pain, but it was soooo worth it.

A few notes. Yes, you can give Moodoro 2gp and get the combine book container instead of having to travel to Erudin. Second, you'll need some plat for playing Moodoro's game, you have to give him 4gp until you get the Jester (which you give to him to get the page) it only took me 5 tries, but it's just random so it could take a lot of money. I put 10 plat into gold at the bank, that should be enough for even the worst luck with his game (25 tries). Second, it's a lot easier to kill Dyllin if you plan a little bit ahead and have a small amount of help. If you have a friend that's about your level or higher, they can melee Dyllin and you can nuke away without being interrupted, this helps a LOT. Watch the other smugglers, especially the 40ish level one!, and make sure you have the maximum amount of time 'till they come back before you start wailin' on Dyllin.

Also, if you are a slightly higher level, don't give in to the temptation to lay waste to the smugglers, even if they attack you. Faction hits with Dyllin are moderately severe, but faction hits with the smugglers are bad, you only have to kill a few before you're in the bad graces of the highpass and freeport militia. Luckily I only killed one smuggler and never got down to KoS.

One last point, I clocked Dyllin from spawn to spawn and it was 6 and a half hours (to the minute).
fun fun

heh.... when i finally got around to killing Dylan several levels back, i managed to avoid the big smugglers... but one of the blue ones got aggroed on my, due to some strange pathing. After root broke, I ended up meleeing Dylan to death while getting beaten on by the smuggler, and i looted the page before i got pummeled =P

musta been amusing for my guild....

/gui WOOHOO!!! i'm about to drop, but i got it!!!

Does "No Drop" mean I can't give ToV to someone?
# Aug 10 2001 at 11:19 PM Rating: Default
Does this NO DROP item mean that I cannot trade or sell it???

I assisted a friend in getting the book and page 34, but only to find page 34 was NO DROP and I couldn't give it to him :( I shoulda consulted the Oracle (Allakhazam's) before agreeing to assist.

I spent about a half hour and around 13pp getting the Jester (or Joker) card, so would it be worth it to finish the quest so I can give or sell ToV to a friend if it is even possible.

My Bard is Lvl 14 currently, but I was thinking of giving ToV to a lvl 35 Cleric. Should I just destroy the page and hang my head in shame?

Destroy the page, or get the book and use for tradeskills.

No Drop means you can't put it on the ground and you can't trade it to a PC. YOu can give it to a NPC, but according to all the test I have run if you kill the NPC he will not drop it. So you can do the quest and just have it to have it. Or destory the pages.

You can put a No Drop item in a trade window, and the NPC seems to take it, but I have tried this with summoned hammers, and the npc won't use it. Also won't have it if you kill the npc.

Well I have been trying to get Dylan for days but everyeim I went no Dylan. I used the bind/gate method and hung around EK and HHP so not to go completely insane with boredom. I got the book and the first page weeks ago and decided it was now time to complete the quest. I logged in yesterday afternoon and someone was camping Dylan. I asked him to give me a tell when he popped, just to get a time frame. He popped around 3:30pm CST. Figured about 7 hour spawn time and decided the best time to try was around 7:00am the next day (today). I logged on and boom there he was but someone was medding up to take him out. Oh well. Figured next pop would be around 12:30. Logged back in around 12:45. No Dylan but no one was camping. I worked on my tracking and Sense heading and around 1:15 or so he spawned. I buff'ed myself and harmonied the smuggler standing there. Red smuggler went out of site. Cast root (oops forgot to snare), Root was resisted and he ran around aggro 3 smugglers. I ran off the ledge and zoned. I gated back quickly, healed and medded, cast snare, root, BAM red smuggler, ran again to HHK, gated back, Dylan was now walking around. He wandered down to the water, the red smuggler had just gone up. I snared, rooted, and nuked. 20 secs later I had my page and swam to freedom.
just a rant...
# Aug 07 2001 at 5:47 AM Rating: Decent
no one needs to respond to this i just felt like venting.

after much deliberation, i decide to go camp Dyllin today (well yesterday) and so i log on and proceed to set up my spells and make the run to HHP. while i'm there (in SK) i notice this guy (won't mention his name) shouting for a GG to WC. of course there's nothing remarkable about this, now.

anyway, i get to HHP, find me a nice spot, and set up a game of Gems. after i'd been there for about an hour and a half this guy shows up, who happens to be the same guy i had seen earlier in SK shouting for the GG and claims to have been camping Dyllin for the past four hours. a discussion ensues about who was in fact there first and during this time, guess who pops!

now how can i be so sure u ask? well i had grouped with this guy b4 and he has a rather unique name. now, he's a bard, and i'm a shaman. i'm pretty sure that i could have nuked Dyllin and out do his damage, but i'm just not made that way.

anyway, i let him have the kill, and to add insult to injury, this total loser sits down, says: "don't loot him", logs and then logs on with a different character and has this new PC loot Dyllin. need i tell u that this character couldn't have taken him out? i didn't think so.

with a few chioce parting words, i just logged off and came back on a few hrs later to enjoy my next 4+ hr wait ... good thing star trek was on upn at midnight. on the plus side, i did spend a lot of the time working on my sadly lacking divination skill and raised it over 70 points.

maybe i'm too nice, maybe i should yell at ppl more, maybe i should use a spell checker (i'm sure there r LOTS of typos in this) but i say it's not worth the effort. like i said ... just a rant

May Tunare bless you child, you are exactly the person that I was searching for! I seem to have dropped 11k in platinum and I can't seem to find it, might I have yours? =) Seriously though, that was UBER-nice of you to do that. I know some shady characters that would have simply ninja looted the page and been on their way, but you are truly honorable and courteous. The meek shall inherit the earth and you will be right there with a lot the size of Texas my friend.

Wow you are too nice. I would of taken the page if I had been waiting there first. BTW, when I camped him I had to wait about 11 hours, but on a plus side I did get my Divination skill maxed :)

I just did this today, took about an hour in all, I suppose I was lucky though. I was in the cave when I logged on and Dyllin was up and was uncamped, so I conned the smugglers who were aimiable to me. Anyway I waited for the red smuggler to walk into the tunnel, then snared Dyllin, went right up to where he had spawned and cast away. Hit him with careless lightening twice and dizzying wind about 3 times plus a couple of ignites, took me about a minute to kill him.

Anyway, my point is this, maybe it was because I was amiable to the smugglers, or maybe because of where I was fighting Dyllin, but the smugglers that walked past while I was fighting left me alone ..of course I could just have been lucky, anyone else know anything about this? I conned the 2 smugglers that had walked past afterwards and one was blue the other was white, so I think they would have aggroed me.

Apart from that this quest is really easy for a level 19 Wood Elf Druid, it took a few turns to get the page from the Erudite guy in Qeynos, but I now have the book and it has made quite a lot of difference to my mana.

Just wanted to post something... becuase I was so happy to get this :). I took the easiest root, I went to Crows and gave what's his name 2gp to get the empty book, then I had to give him 8gp to get the joker card. Get it on my second try! Then, as I was bound in Highpass I just gate back. I head into the caves, ready to wait a nice 7 hours to get my book... then when I get there... Dyllin is spawned! He's just sitting there under his tent... Shocked me, I wasn't ready for it at all... had to medd up in fact. So, I get to full mana, wait for for the red to go away and I root him, snare, DoT, nuke, root, nuke to death. Anywho.. really easy at level 19 and very noticably more mana. Only thing to watch for... is his resists. He resisted my root a few times and partial resist of my nukes. Besides that... easy! Every druid should do it!!
wisdom points
# Jul 11 2001 at 4:25 PM Rating: Decent
Why do these messages mention 1 point of wisdom? The book gives you 10 points of wisdom, which I think is a significant increase for the cost.

I followed the advice given herein, and the kill was easy. I'm a 24 druid. The key is to harmony the green smugglers, and wait for the red summgler to go to the left (as your looking away from the spawn spot). Also, levitate was very helpful when I was done cuz i just ran up the tunnel to the right (again, facing out from the alcove) and off the edge and I was at the entance to highkeep. No smugglers even touched me. I was done and out before Red returned from his walk.
