I have a gnomish mage of the 16th season and it seems this quest is designed mostly for enchanters (easiest for enchanters to do anyway). Would I have to spend hours and hours improving my faction to do this quest or should I just create a enchanter mule?
witht he way your asking the question. You make it sound as though a lvl 1 enchanter's spells or abilities would do you any good. More so, the most critical aspect... being the RACE. Make a dark elf enchanter. To do the final parts of the quest. But I think some of the idems are no drop. A lvl 8 enchanter can do this quest.
I am an enchanteress on The Rathe and I did the quest for the FIRST time at level 33 simply because I had already bought one and didn't have the need for another. However, a friend of mine who does the quest regulary, told me how easy it was. So, I went on my little quest and all I have to say is, even if you already have one, get another, get 2, get 3...get 100, but sell them all. This is simply too easy of a quest and too much money in sells to pass up. My suggestion though, start earlier than 33, you may have some mad items with all your money. Or, you can save it up for a Luclin horse:) Just my 2cp worth!
A Helpful Enchantress of the 35th season The Rathe
Old info... Originally was asking why my faction was getting worse by doing this quest, when it actually was getting better. It was my first time working with faction, hehe, didn't know Apprehensive was above Dubious. Anyways, thought I'd clear out this newb-sounding question.
Actually, this quest is probably the very fastest way to improve your faction with almost everyone in Oggok. My enchanter has done the quest enough times to have GREAT faction there.
The only problem, and it is a BIG one for any race but enchanters, is to get through the quest that first time.
I've done this quest 4 times in the last 3 days. I started an Erudite Enchanter just for this quest and I can do it in about an hour and a half with SoW and my own gate. Each time I sold the Stein before running to Oggok and returning the compendium and getting another. The last time I sold the Stein, some nitwit thought 200pp was a horrible price and laughed. He said they were 75pp, 100pp tops, then /shouted a PC on it and everyone yelled 150 and 200 back. That felt good, but I sold the first 2 for 200pp each so I don't know what that guy was smoking, and then I sold that one for 200pp and I intend to sell them all for 200pp each (maybe as low as 150) until I've done the quest a dozen or so times. Anyone that will only buy if it's less than 150pp, or sells for anything more than 200pp is greedy, you know who you are.
I AGREE i've done this quest 15 times so far,and i'll give you a hint: create a mule in qeynos,so you dont get bad faction for your main(if your main is an enchanter-like mine)because if you dont. BAD FACTION TO YOU WHO KILL "THE FISH" OF QEYNOS trust me,I know first hand,i have spent 2 weeks in BB trying to rebuild faction (about a thousand mobs dead)and i "STILL" con READY TO ATTACK... just my 2cp; but, i love this quest, its a great means of cash and i am an upstanding member of my guild, due to the supply of moggoks that i have provided. and when i sell, i take no less than 200pp or i trade for equal value, you have to remember its your butt you put on the line, and the time you put into doing this quest,i say it's worth the price. if you dont belive me,create your own chanter, and do it one time yourself, then you'll understand the price. GOOD LUCK
I think it was my 3rd week of playing I had an Iksar SK was taken to EC cuz I wanted to travel.
I went and killed Centurions and the other agro mobs at the camps, shin ree popped up 3 times in about 8 days, with a group got belts.
I didn't know what they were for at the time so I took my loot as it came. This darkelf auctions off to buy em, I sell 20 belts for 10pp a piece, got some nice chunk change.;D
Bought the stein for a friend for 120pp, this troll auctions to buy one. I get curious and ask him how much. He said he'd pay 500pp for it, I gladly sold it and bought another for 80pp.
That wasn't the last instance, got a harpoon of the depths for 20pp and I got a dusty BP for only 200pp.
It possibly could be two Stien of Moggoks, as there are two versions in game. One is the one seen in the pic above, the other is the same thing, but it procs a light heal as well as being a 6 36 weapon, and still has the charges. And yes, they are both lore, but one is a weapon, the other is not... so, yes, you can have 2 SoM's. I know I liked mine.
I did this quest with my enchanter starting at lvl 6, just collecting the parts to get the bartender compendium, and I finished it as soon as I got lvl 12, only using illusion: Dark Elf and alliance. Only ran into one ogre that could see through invis so I avoided her, and paid a newbie ogre to find Clurgg for me.
i am a lvl 29 encanter and i dont whant to do this quest because i dont know if i will get killed being a human and i cant run in invis because uper and lower guk if full of undead can any 1 tell me an easy was of doing it expet running alll the way there and back
Yeh, don't you have illusion skeleton, that's what I use mixed with invis to get through kith at night and just hug the wall. I don't know what your talking about with upper and lower guk cause you don't even have to go through there. Oggok you can use ogre form and benevolence. I'm a dark elf and I have to get a port to tox from EC or WC for about 10pp. Then illusion human or erudite form to get through Erudin and Qeynos. I made a human monk mule char to kill the fish with in Qeynos. Probably would be better to make a mule SK and then harm touch the fish to kill them. I'm only lvl 27 now and I have done this quest many times with ease. You should have no problem at all man.
Stein of Moggok is an excellent quest for a young enchanter to do. You can easily sell the Stein for 250pp and the quest takes maybe four hours(depending on whether or not you have a druid or wizzy friend) this is excellent pay for that amount of time to a level 12 or 8 player.
And about the Stein never selling for more than 200pp that's a little off. I've noticed lately on Xegony server the price of the stein has actually risen from a low of about 175p to 250-275p most likely because of the fact that a lot of people on the server just don't do this quest anymore.
Depends on which stein you got. The stein of moggok goes for about 200pp and the crude stein goes for about 40pp. The crude stein doesn't have any charges on it.
The other stein was probably the crude stein. Gives +10 sta, +15 cha. Alot of enchanters will have both SOM and crude stein in their hands I being one of them.
I see players all the time running around with what LOOKS like two SOMs.... are they SOMs (which would seem odd as they're Lore) or is the 2nd some other kind of stein w/same graphic? Thanks.
You have been hit by an Orc Legionaire for 38 points damage! Hee hee that tickles...
I do this quest all the time and it's easy as pie. I usually sell the stein for 175 - 200pp and sometimes on rare occasions, I get 250pp for it. You can sell it for 250pp, but you better be prepared for a long wait because most people won't even /t you back unless they are just desperate or have tons of cash laying around to blow. This quest is very easy to do though if you are of the right race and religion. I personaly just had someone port me to tox and then I used my Erudite and Human forms plus invis to get through Erudin and Qeynos easily. Halfling form in Rivervale. No problem. Cast alliance on Clurg in Oggok before giving him the compendium and there you go. Also, if you want to buy from some of the other merchants in Oggok, just cast minor illusion on yourself and then try to buy. If that don't work, cast alliance while in minor illusion form and they will definately sell to you then. See-ya around all.
I don't think it would be wise. Iksar's are kos in Oggok, Qeynos, FP, Erudin, and pretty much everywhere else too except your hometown. Plus your faction would pretty much keep Clurg from even thinking about giving you the stein. You COULD however, have a friend do it for you. DE enchanters are the easiest to complete this quest with. Make a DE enchanter, get him to lvl 8 and then go do it yourself and give it to your iksar maybe? Basically, you could get it but it will take a little work or a really nice friend.
can you do this quest with a dark elf and not be killed? i have been looking to do this quest for a while and wonder if it is worht my while to get enough stuff to do it more than once and sell it for quick cash? wheaping high elf enchanter
Of course you can! In fact, Dark Elves are the BEST race for this quest, because you can start doing it at 8th level, whereas enchanters of other races need to wait until their 12th level to do it (at 12th level, the "light races" get the Dark Elf illusion form, making the last part of this quest -- the returning of the recipe book to Chef in Ogguk -- possible).
i was just playing around on the web and i realized that i bought a stein of moggok from Waare last night!
hehehe...
i did the stein quest many times as a young enchanter, it's a great source of income for a level 8 dark elf.
another thought, i paid 200pp for the stein from Waare, this is the standard price. if you do the quest and sell it for less you are only cheating yourself. enchanters are the only class in the game that can do this quest, so let's not be giving these away.
i sold mine for no less than 250 every time i made the run... just my thoughts.
I have done the quest 4 or 5 times on my rogue after getting dark elf illusion mask and getting my faction with clurg to amiable using the lizard tail and lizard meat quest. It took roughly 280 tails and 8 stacks of meat. I had a couple bad clurg faction hits from fighting on ogre island , the times when i was attacked by oowomp and lived gave me a bad faction hit with clurg, you may neeed less tails if you have never taken any bad faction hits with him,
You can multiquest the part in freeport if you need to.
And I would also like to add that my rogue is agnostic and it took a 5days playing 3-4 hours a day getting tails and meat and handing it all in to get to amiable.
However the part in freeport will work with indifferent, the part in ogguk with clurg wont(he took the items and gave me nothing on my first attempt(I didnt expect it to work with indifferent based on what I had heard, it work work with indifferent)) My suggestion is to not try untill you are amiable, and it will save ya a few hours.
Enchanters are not the only class that can do the quest. They are the only ones that can easily do the quest at level 8, perhaps.
My druid used to do stein runs all the time. Between gates and SoW, getting around the world quickly made this quest best suited for a druid (once the factions were fixed enough to start doing the quest). On an active server with a lot of players looking for the steins, the ability to turn a couple steins an hour was a good moneymaker. OF course, King Kazon Stormhammer was quickly and permanently KOS to me, so be a little careful in Kaladim if you do a lot of steins.
My stein has 3 charges of light healing. and it doesnt give 10 to mana and hp, and it does not give +5 to dex..it also isnt a 'major lightsource'..because if you switch it w/ the staff of the ovsevers, the staff of the observers gives a noticably greater amount of light. also, on TZ, that 25 disease resist is great! combined w/ my toughskin spell, i get over 50 disease resist, that is great vs necroes!
Yeah, ok that hungry guy above me was wierd. Anyway, I doubt it will recharge, but if it does, the reason you would have a 10int item in the bank for 24 hours is to recharge it. To do this, you just dump it in the bank, and leave on your charactor on overnight and into the next day (I dont recommend if you have dialup connection) when you are not planning on playing. You can also go around helping newbies if you wanna play, or hunting low blues (fer me necro.) I dont think its worth it to do that though, light healing is not all that greate
Ive done this quest several times now. I made the grievous error the first time of getting too close to the warriors in Ogguk... dead. My god is Tunare, and I still am able to do this quest. You need to be a dark elf in Ogguk (make sure you invis before you go in, theres a bouncer on the other side of the zone). If you need to cast alliance on the fellas in the bar, stand as far back and open the door (or have someone open it for you) and cast from a distance. After all the times I have made this trip only the warriors canned my poor high elven butt (while under DE illusion). Of course I dont recommend you do this quest if you have nasty Ogguk faction from killing ogres. Having someone to port you from place to place to finish this quest is great too. The reason one has to be level 12 to complete this quest is because that's when the illusion Dark Elf spell is available to you "good" races. Has nothing to do with religion. Deities may cause problems, regardless of level. If you are an agnostic DE enchanter you can start doing this quest safely at level 8. Word of warning, ALWAYS be invis when you enter Ogguk. Although you raise many ogre factions when you do the quest, one faction is lowered (I believe it's one of the ogre warrior factions). I've done the quest a few times now as an agnostic DE. The bouncers that I've conned are still dubious but I have a feeling that will change. And.... I never take less than 200pp for this item.
