i was in a group of 5 holding down the room. this guy spawned 3 times in about 2-3 hours or so. each time the book dropped.

I bought this for 200pp recently. I think I got such a good price because the seller was too lazy to go back to ec to sell it (from Overthere).

price update
# Feb 20 2002 at 1:55 PM Rating: Decent
The price is very inaccurate on allot of the old items. I think they should reset all of them. I bought one and commenly see these for 600pp no were near the 2000pp they once sold for.

RE: price update
# Mar 09 2002 at 12:01 AM Rating: Decent
did you put your price in the pricing data section? that's the reason why the prices are so out of date, they're going on old sales, if people would put in the new prices, the averages would fall, and a more correct price would be shown :)
I went there last night ...

It isn't too hard to take the library. My friend and I got down there pretty easily (Me 44 Monk, friend 49 Druid). Sadly, what ended up happening was there were the skeletal warders who were healing everything and by the time i noticed it there were 2 skeletal warders and a guardian of xalgoz on me, I had no choice but to feign death. I did and then I had to lay there for about an hour and I'm still there right now, not in that spot, after mending to full health I made my way as far as I could to the entrance. My friend had already gotten off then so right now I'm stuck in Kaesora. Hopefully someone will be on, or someone that wouldn't mind going to the library with me again or something who can teleport me out. Well, my advice to you all if you want to take the library is to kill all of the skeletal warders in the area, they will heal anything that you are attacking. They spawn outside of the library on both sides. Ok, I wish the best of luck to you all with the library.

A Spirit Tome Story
# Sep 29 2001 at 4:53 AM Rating: Excellent
One day I was enjoying a break from planar travel, basking in the sun and smelling the sweet smells of the woods... and Norrath, once again... and decided I should do something nice for my younger, though misguided brother. I knew he was very fond of reading, and though poor he spent whatever meager coin he could scrap up on reading materials. I rounded a corner and came upon a stream, with the stark realization that I had *no* idea what kinds of things Mycah liked to read, suddenly I heard a traveling merchant shout out that he'd like to sell a tome. A tome! No doubt this was the work of Tunare. I closed my eyes and concentrated on the face of the wolf, feeling nature's energy running throughout my being. When next I ran, the woodland creatures I passed noticed only a blur.

I could smell the salesman. It was the light but musky odor of a sweet cigar. I broke through the brush and found before me a lizard man. Instinctually my hand went to Wurmslayer, then drew back as the lizard smiled and bowed.

"What... manner of tome are you trying to sell... sir?" I asked, amazed I was actually talking to one so usually foreign to this forest.

He struggled to speak common. "Iss the tome of the sspirit.... the sssspirit tome. Come from down among the dead men. I pry it from hand of ssssoft flesh dead. It lit way out from that cursssed place. Verrry ssstrong wordssss... I ssssell to you now for nine hundred and fifty platinum. You give coin to me."

Nine Hundred and Fifty Platinum!! Tunare!!

I had it. I'd saved up a lot from my adventures in the Burning Woods. Wurmslayer was a might sword, but the pieces were not hard to acquire, and I'd become quite adept and finding the pieces for it. As such, I'd amassed a small fortune for myself just recently. While I'd been planning on buying grand weaponry (I had my eye on a dagger that I'd seen literally change a man into a wolf, and I do not lie), this whole transaction felt somehow ... meant, and I knew it could only be the work of Tunare. And I dare not deny her all powerful, all loving will. I looked left, then right. We seemed alone. I smelled the air. Sweet cigars, a rabbit nearby, nothing more.

I reached into my backpack and pulled from it a large satchel. Inside was my accumulated wealth, better protected by me than by any banker. I handed him the platinum in handfulls. He took it gingerly, tongue darting in and out, and from his own bags he pulled a dusty book. It was the color of a crypt wall and its binding was ripped in several places, yet when it was removed from the bag, shadows danced around us as a pale, sickly light emanated from it. I moved to open the book and the lizard's hand darted out and clasped my own. I felt as though I'd been grabbed by the trunk of a tree, his hands were hard and had no warmth.

"The wordsss are not for you."

And with that, he released me, turned away, and walked into the foliage. Almost instantly I could not sense him. He was no longer anywhere nearby. A chill ran down my spine, but a smile broke across my face.

Two days later I arrived, weary from travel, at the edge of Nektolos Forest. To continue inside would be unwise, as the guards that roamed the area protected my brother fiercely. Should I happen upon one of these guards, blood bond notwithstanding, the guards would try to take me into custody. I'm a wood elf. Mycah... Mycah on the other hand had very mysterious beginnings. My mother adopted him six years after I was born, and his pale complexion didn't seem quite so out of the ordinary at that time. He was a baby after all, and one prone to sickness at that. However, as he grew older it became evident that Mycah was not like us. His pale skin began turning a dark hue of blue. I remember those dark days of school. Mycah would wear layers of clothing in order to hide his flesh, and apply ointments to make his face appear fair. In time I'm sure it was this insecurity that drove him to become an illusionist. To meet Mycah, one never knows if one is meeting the true physical Mycah. Only I really know what he looks like naturally. But I digress...

Today I found Mycah quite quickly, near the edge of the forest. His odor is unmistakable. It's the smell of coal and something dead. Today Mycah is in the guise of the undead. Very unnerving, but allows him fairly safe passage through these haunted and horrible forests, or so he says. I somewhat suspect he enjoys that form. I somewhat suspect Mycah is losing his mind.

"Hail brother." I say.

A high cackle emits from what once was my brother, now a pile of bones connected loosely by small flaps of bloody flesh and muscle. One eyeball dangles loosely from a hollow socket. With the speed of the trapdoor spider, my Guardian Sword snaps out and clips it away from his face. There's a little blood, but not much. Mycah doesn't flinch. I feel better about things.

"Hail brother." says Mycah, "You are no doubt here to try to pull me out of these dark woods and I'll not have it... for one thing..."

"Nay." I interrupted, "I am here to deliver to you a gift. I thought perhaps it would help you see in there, and give you something to do as well."

With that, I handed him the Spirit Tome.

He grasped it with his fingerbones. He studied the binding, tracing the cracks with a particularly skinny digit. Then he opened the book.

Immediately the skeletal illusion was replaced with Mycah, as I knew him to be. His face was contorted into a pure mixture of absolute understanding and absolute fright. As his eyes swept the pages, he looked the way most three year olds look, wide-eyed and gaping mouth, finally grasping something profound in the mind, yet... not quite equipped to handle the results of that knowledge. Shadows danced around us. The light from nowhere flickered in Mycah's eyes.

His eyes raised and met my own. They tightened into squints and a very dark smile ripped across his face.

"Oh brother...."

he said, and his voice very nearly mesmerized me where I stood. Now it was I who was trembling. Trembling before my own brother.

"You know not what you've done."

And with that a horrible and horrendous laugh thundered through my head. I fell to one knee and began concentrating. I looked for the spirit of the wolf amidst the raging laughter and found it cowering. With all the will I could muster I begged the spirit to take me. And so it did. At once I was transformed and immediately I retreated from this dark place. I ran so fast I believe there may still be a trail there.

I also realized that I had been mistaken. For the deed which I had done could not have been planned by Tunare. And now what I'd leashed upon the world would be my fault. Woe was me.

I'm a 52 and 40 druid on 2 different servers,.. is it cool enough to do the Spirit Tome thing, or is there danger involved.

I understand the 40 druid would need a group and all,.. but the 52 druid is the one I'm thinking of. Thanks tons guys for your input.

Be Well

At 52 i would think that this would be a kinda useless item to ya unless your farmin it. It would take you not to long to get testement of vanear about 8 hours max more like 3 or 4 if you know when the last spawn was. If you after a good item for your primary hand then the garou club would be a better choice which is +7 wis and aint to bad for beating on stuff with its proc. My friend did the garou quest and didn't take to long so all in all i would say this book aint worth the time. if your a cleric or druid.

How difficult would it be to get to and fight in the library?

The level of the mob is listed as 32?

Is it a higher level version of say Mistmoore or the New Dark Elf Befallen

32 Mage.
RE: Curious
# Sep 14 2001 at 10:24 AM Rating: Decent
The greatest danger in Kaesora is the casting spiders that can see invis, and they are only a pain for a group when they gang up on you. Which by the way, is whenever they can. If you can get in a full group lvls 32-40 though, you would be just fine getting to the library. The mobs are well spread out and although likely to come in pairs, they rarely come in three or more.

As a word of note, keep track of your pet as with any dungeon, going up or down stairs can send a pet around the long way and bring down the castle so to speak.

I would say the pricing on Morell-Thule for the Spirit tome is dwindling. Someone spent hours trying to sell it yesterday and finally sold it to me for best offer ( 900pp ). I would say if I had the choice at the time, I would only have paid 700pp for it, true enough, 72 mana is NOT worth 2k pp.

RE: Pricing

It's all about timing. I sold one the other week (for 1k) and i was mobbed by 6 tells in under a minute! If i'd of known that i would have sold it for at least 1.2k or maybe 1.5k. 2000 plat is way too much for it, though. Get on at peak time in EC and you'll have no trouble getting rid of it. Yeh stats aren't too great but they're not bad and a more fashionable alternative to a stein. Wis casters don't have much of a selection to begin with and the stats aren't that shabby for them, as they don't have the option of buying a cheap 10 int stein. So I'd place the price at about....1k-1.5k. Maybe you could get 2k, if you found some one desperate enough. I certainly would never go under 1k, on MT.

When it is equipped it looks like an open book in your hand. It's a nice idea to use it in the primary slot with Testament of Vanear on secondary. However, I wouldn't pay 2kpp for it, not even close. 6 wisdom is 72 mana when you're level 60, not really worth 2k.
RE: Spirit Tome
# Aug 29 2001 at 3:45 PM Rating: Decent
Ummm actually, when you are under the 200pt "soft cap" for mana-generating traits, a 6 point boost give more like (60/5)*6...360 mana at 60th level.

RE: Spirit Tome
# Sep 06 2001 at 3:10 PM Rating: Good
I would check that math again. (60/5)*6 = 72 not 360...

This isn't a common drop from the Librarians. Common drops are come cloak and the Kunzar Mantle. My group just started in Kaesora. We've killed four Librarians and have gotten 1 Tome, 1 Cloak, one monk 2hb, and one Kunzar Mantle.

what do ye want to know about it? a 56 cleric gave me one today on Ayonae Ro. I am using it on my 28 almost 29 cleric now....and whoopin WIS of 126 now...other medeocre items.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 16 2001 at 8:26 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You are near level 30 and have 126 wisdom....... you know, most people can get post-100 wisdom if they allocate points properly at character creation (some can't because of race... that's why you should pick a dorf =). Otherwise, your equipment just really sucks for your level. Either way, something is definately wrong with that kinda wisdom.... and something is even more disturbing about the way you think you are 'whoopin' in the wisdom department.

well my Iksar shaman had 115wis to start and like 173wis with decent I would say 126 wisdom is very low..I just got rid of my shaman, I didn't like being kos to everyone =\ I know there are ways around but I just got bored with him.
