Mitigation
# Apr 25 2004 at 10:09 PM Rating: Decent
5% and a max of 100 means that a single hit would have to do more than 2000 damage prior to mitigation. It doesn't matter if it quads, it is each hit will be reduced by 5%.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 23 2004 at 8:35 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) what are you talkin about Belce...5% and a max of 100 means that it absorbs 5% of melee attack max'd to 100hp. learn to read ya freak'n newb!

previously proc'd at lvl 1 (or so i here, i was using on my warrior, was lvl 28 or so when i found it and gve it to him, and worked then), which i agree was a little early for a proc like this to start working. now it seems they bumped it to lvl 40, which sounds more in line with what i'd expect. still a nice weapon, and i agrre, ill be keeping mine on my troll for a while, especially in LDoN (dmg/dly, with AC, and stats isnt bad, even if it doesnt proc for a couple more lvls)

proc lvl got bumped along with most other procs on weapons with a reccomended lvl. (ie: CHoS, SotBS, Forgotten Orb)

Guard II Explained

I've been using this for some time now, and with the help of parsed logs, I've come to discover the hidden beauty of Guard II.

Using it in my primary hand until it Procs, it lasts 5 minutes once it does Proc. I then switch it to my secondary hand, where random Procs usually guarantee it stays up until I stop playing.

Once it procs, I run damage log parses against when it hadn't procced.

The 5% damage Mitigation lasts while the spell is up, and applies to all incoming melee damage (I'll test against spells later). It will mitigate up to 100 Hit Points maximum total, across all hits.

For example, if a Mob would normally Quad hit for 2000 (4x500), he would now hit for 1900 overall (5%, or 25 hp, mitigated from each hit). If he did 5 hits for 500 apiece, 4 hits would do 475, the last would do the full 500.

Very nice, since it's easy to keep Guard II with this weapon in the off hand. May not sound like a lot, but 5% damage mitigation is better than none.

This is a highly underrated piece of equipment judging by the posts here. Offhand, I see this thing proc at least 2-3 times a fight when I'm in LDON groups (usually buffed to max Dex), and thats 300+ damage I'm saving up per fight. For the healers in a party, it definitely increases their mana stores as its that much longer before they have to Complete Heal the tank. Probably not much use on Planes raids, but excellent item situationally. The Damage isn't half bad (delay is irrelevant in the off hand), the Stats Bonuses are nice, and overall I'd say I'll be holding onto for a while while doing LDON.

I could be wrong, but isn't Guard II all damage up to 100 in that a hit for 200 drops guard, but does no damage?

While I understand your frustration, please understand that "Need Before Greed" is usually the best way to go. Hang in there, as I am sure one day, the Gods of Norrath will smile upon you.

Assuming your using CAWU in your looting he would be the only posible one to claim it. Now if he was sporting something better and still wanted it then i would be on your side calling foul. As far as not winning items sometimes you win some times you lose...playing with the same people alot helps your odds cause you can keep track better of who has been winning rolls and keep them out untill everyone from your core group wins something.

It's a short wand and has a fire particle effect on it.

I like it for non-ma weapon.

Proc
# Sep 26 2003 at 10:06 AM Rating: Decent
I am a 54 Warrior on Drinal and this dropped in MM Catacombs for me the other night. This is an above average level for a Warrior my level, but there are a lot of nicer weapons. But it succeeded in forcing me to increase my 1H Blunt to use it and sell my Centi LS. I have discovered that there is a hidden proc that life taps your target and heals you for 31 points. Its procs about 4 times on every mob. Makes for a really nice addition to this already impressive weapon.
RE: Proc
# Oct 03 2003 at 11:28 AM Rating: Decent
"a white aura surrounds you" is the proc i think. You'll get a shield icon in the buff window.

And unlike one poster below says, it stays on you until it wears off. Even if the mob you proced on dies.
RE: Proc
# Sep 30 2003 at 6:14 PM Rating: Good
that "hidden proc" just meant the enchanter had cast boon of the garou on you and you hadn't noticed.

I have it sitting in the bazaar on Innoruuk for 5k. Nobody seems to be interested. Maybe I should /auction to let people know what the proc does (5% melee damage mitigation).

Got one On Lanys for my 33 War for 250PP. It procs about 4 times a fight for him. I usually let it proc then switch to 1hb or 2hs it is a helpful proc item. Just my 2cents.
Better than a Centi? Yes...
# Sep 20 2003 at 3:55 AM Rating: Default
Smiley: jesterHehehe, God i love this weapon. I'm not a big fan of bash for a warrior, but this thing is just as good (if not a lil better) that a Centi LS. Yeah, I was in a group, and I was the only warrior. Some Wiz looted it and I asked for it. He didn't even check out the stats till I told him only I could use it. HE thought it was another wand he could use.... NOPE! I like it a lot..... But if you wanna buy it from me in game, I will take like 15K for it :-) I'm flexable Smiley: jester

Steward Warden drop
# Sep 12 2003 at 4:23 AM Rating: Default
I looted one of these from the Steward Warden in the MM Catacombs on a rescue missioin, normal difficulty.

We killed her after freeing the prisoner (Guard ???). We worked our way back to her in our extra time. I got lucky and won the roll (no warriors in group) and then we got booted from the Catacombs about 30 seconds after I looted it.

this goes quite nice with a polished obsidian tomahawk if what they is true then the damage you get is lessened quite a bit i find this to work well while in groups just my opinion

Looks like the effect will block 5% of all incoming damage until it's blocked 100 damage, then it drops. Since it's a weapon proc, it'll probably stay on the whole fight.

Actually, it blocks 5% of all incoming damage UP to 100 points. Unlike Rune, it stays up for 5 minutes when it procs, and while up, mitigates all incoming damage by 5% to a maximum of 100.

So if a MOB would normally do 100 points of damage, it will do 95. If it would 1000 points of damagem, it will do 950, and so forth up to 100 points.

Got this in the MM theme with a group of levels 53-60. Savage Scoundrel or something was the name of the mob...
