I killed him today on Vallon Zek. Waited about 5 hours for him and saw a whole lot of PHs. He dropped platnium ring when I killed him. I tried clearing the whole floor out at first (except whats behind the locked door) and that didn't really seem to speed up his spawn rate, so i just waited by the door for all the PH's to come. I think they come about every 30 minutes or so and they walk from the zoneline to the locked door. Some of them shout "Graaugh you have disturbed me from my rest. Now suffer as I have!!" (or something close) and some of them don't but I killed them all. I think there might be a pattern in the spawns, because sometimes i would kill 2 non shouters and a shouting PH would spawn, then after him a couple more non shouters would spawn. I don't know how this works, and it might not be that pattern (I didn't really pay attention that much hehe), but it could help. I would say the best thing to do would be to time the PHs and run around the zone and be stupid while you wait for him. This makes for some interesting stuff, especially on the PvP server (One time someone chased me downstairs and I locked them in that little room before the one with the ogre sk in it hehehe). Alternatively, you can go loot crappy armor and play dress up with the necros =P. Good luck getting him and I hope the rest of the parts of the quest aren't this much of a pain in the *** for you.
There is a way to get him to spawn fairly quick. I camped him many times and one early morning i it hit me... Wont say much but a hint... OPEN YOUR EYES and see what he actually is.
hmm, I've seen a number of theories on making him spawn, but none that hold up.
I've camped Gynok often, and tried a number of ways to speed him along. at the moment, kill everything you can between spawns seems to be the only thing to do.
I have heard that he was broken... but I'm not sure. All I know is that I killed him twice. First time he dropped copper (Sun) and the next time I got him (Thur) he dropped the plat ring.
OK..................................................... I xamped the gynok guy who supposed to drop pltnium ring for paw quest................... He dropped gold one ...........why might i ask? Does he just drop em all or what somone save me from this particament i don't feel like camping him for another 3 days to get crap. HELP!
Gynok will sometimes drop the gold one, check and make sure the gold ring he drops has stats on it though, or it is not the right one. Stats +1 to one and -1 chr. Yes he does also drop the Platinum ring. It took me two days of camping him to get the Platinum ring. 4 hours the first day and about 8 the next. He has a 12 hour spawn time with PH's. Hope this helps.
12 hour spawn time might be right, killed Gynok at midnight and got the gold ring. Logged back on around noon the next day and got the plat one off him.
There is always this huge debate over the Testament, the paw and the CGS. Id have to think the paw is geared more towards the Troll shaman, I have a lvl 9 shaman troll and his stumpy green legs are the slowest things even WITH sow. The Testament seems good for druids and the CGS for clerics. I have debated betting the paw AND my CGS (which I have)...So for all of you debating which one you want, dream bigger try and get em all. I also have all but the last page of the testament... but then, what caster doesnt right? Queynos quests rock, all the good ones seem to be born from here.
If you look at all the stats, it would be best to have testament and paw, giving you 9 ac, 19 wis, 15 mana, and whatever else the paw gives. Also, the CGS is fairly heavy...
Well worth doing quest then buying it.. I finished it last night. The only thing that took the longest was the decayed guk week. Friends and I have been camping this for 2 weeks, I was there 2 1/2 hours last night and it dropped at 10 minutes to 10pm central time. I had alot of friends help me do this quest, I want to thank my friends who helped me do this quest. *hugs*
Okee I know I got lucky on this quest and it only took 8 hours of serious camping to complete. Here are some pointers. The Fungus camp is a pain to get during the day, the best time to get is is very early in the AM ( I started at 4am and had the decayed and bracket in 3 hours ). Gynok was a little easier to get the camp but the trick with him seems to be killing the placeholders in the entry way of befallen. By doing this I had him spawn in three hours ( Make sure to get the rat at the end of the dead end hallway ) Also collect all your rat ears for the Pie for Vin if you dont plan to kill him :) Vin spawns in the aqueduct near the hidden entrance at the front of queynos. I got him to spawn by killing everything in his general area ( not the Beggers, Bad faction ) and it took about 2 hours. Hope this helps and good luck to you all :)
The items are called "Degenerated Guk Weed" & "Guk Bracket Mildew" Ya know...some people read these post for info that will help them with the quest. Gynok does NOT have a placeholder, he is a random rare spawn, can not be triggered, he can't be bribed to show up, he does not have a timer. He comes when he wants too. Period. Why even bother posting if you don't know what your camping for???
I sat and camped Gylok for 36 hours and he never popped, i know hes on a random timmer, and i know hes triggered by killing everyting on that first floor and and that skeleton thats his PH, BUT OMG that is crap. Gylok is broken right now probably on xegony, dont plan on camping it. im off to get the fungus mutant....
Whoo hoo! Got mine last night during a GM event, along with some Gatorscale Leggings... Let's see... that makes 158 wis at lvl 21, untwinked? Whoo hoo!!! Good luck to all, I hope someone else has some luck like that!
When GMs hold special events, any item rewards (if there are any, and there usually are) come in two kinds:
1) Artifacts, which are very special unique items which are a one-time-only sort of deal.
2) Normal special loot, which varies from level-appropriate to higher-than-expected loot. Sometimes it is very rare loot that would normally require a dungeon crawl, or a normally quested item.
The items are a bonus for those who participate in the events, but for my money, the real reward is the experience of the event :-P

I have my druid camped there I fight on my warrior there all the time since they changed the mobs and I have yet to see the mummy DOES HE STILL SPAWN??
Yes he still spawns. I killed him the other day with my rogue while I was practicing pick lock. I was the only one in Befallen, so I killed him, not knowing at the time what his purpose was.

this is a worthless long boring quest for shaman. All a shaman needs is to get a testament and a jade prod which is acctually a weapon and only 3 less wis is 3 wis really worth all this time? i think not.
I have a Testament of Vanier(bad spelling) and I would trade it in for the Paw np. The paw is one less wis and 5 less on the mana than the testament but the agility and stamina are more than worth it to me(my opinion) to bother. Granted it is a long wait for the items but to me it is worth the bother.
Actually the calculation I found on the net is ((WIS / 5) + 2) * Level = Mana. So 1 more WIS gets you 0.2 * level. At level 60, that's 12 more mana... oooohhh!
((1/5)+ 2) = ((0.2)+ 2) = 2.2 If you multipy that by +3 wisdom, you get an extra 396 mana (2.2 x 3 x 60) at level 60, or an extra 132 mana (2.2 x 3 x 20) at level 20. And you get +5 mana directly from the item. Let me know if my math is wrong or if there is some limiting factor I'm not aware of.
Yes, unfortunately your math is wrong, the actual formula is: wisdom divided by 5, plus 2, and that quantity multiplied by your level. The formula you have listed is : one divided by 5, plus 2 (2.2), times your Wisdom, times your level.. a little too much multiplication there. Simplest way to look at it is you have 2 times your level, base mana. level one is 2 mana base, level 60 is 120 mana base. add to that One fifth of your level for each point of wisdom. Example: a level 10 human cleric with minimum wisdom, and no bonuses, has 20 mana base (twice his level) plus 2 (one fifth his level), times his wisdom (85, minimum wisdom for his class/race), which is 170. 170 plus 20 equals 190. Point is, each point of mana giving stat (wisdom or intelligence), gives 1/5th of a point of mana on level 1, 1 point of mana on level 5, 5 points each on 25, 10 on 50, and 12 on 60. So, barring wisdom over 200 (each point over 200 adds 1 mana only, regardless), it ends up that wisdom bonuses are much more efficient at Higher levels, and +mana is more efficient at lower levels. Hope this clears things up, if not, hope it generates more confusion.
Hay, on Xev and wanting to get this, I got my 24 shammy and wanting to go for it. LOL, everyone that posts here about has all success stories, hope mine takes as long as most of you people's. Hop in zone and kill and get what I need first off, =). If anyone has any strategy, better than others (in your own oppinion), plz post it, thx.
You get the plat ring from Gynok in Befallen. He has a 16 minute spawn right at the entrance and has many place holders. (I camped him probably a total of 20 hours, got gold and plat from him, gold first) The gold and copper rings you can get by getting the items from the fungus mutant (who is way in the back of u.guk) The silver ring you find at the bottom of blackburrow, surrounded by razor fish. Then on to Queynos sewers to get the tin. I actually gave him a rat ear pie but youcan just kill him :)
im a 19cleric on vallon zek PVP server before i go into darkie area and get wooped by the darkies what lvl is gynok? so if i do find him without dieing i can kill him
he cons blue to a level 25 druid. also he is right in the entrance where you come into befallen. He is right where you zone into the place but at your level i seriously doubt you could solo him.
