2 slots
# Sep 12 2003 at 10:03 AM Rating: Default
Interesting, so this isn't great armor, but the idea behind it is that it has 2 slots (looks at first glance like all of the pre-LDON stuff got one slot: type 4 for weapons and type 1 for non-weapons). Odd though that they're both type-2 slots. Anyone know what type 2 are for?

For anyone that doesn't know yet the magi that teleport you from camp to camp are also vendors, scroll down a bit they sell books for differant tradeskills each one containing new Ldon recipes. 1pp a book and it explains the processes. Pretty much the new armor is like upgraded Fine Steel/Ornate made with temper instead of water, (Brewing components are from the new Ldon dungeons, each dungeon containing a differant component. Brewing is not hard just water and the component good luck everyone.)

Each dungeon has a different temper component that is simply mixed with a flask of water, and produces a different effect on the armor:

Gargoyle Granite for Gothic armor (from Mistmore Catacombs) adds STR, STA, and svMagic;
Sand Verbena for Sandblasted armor (from Takish-Hiz) adds WIS and svFire;
Pondweed for Deep Cavern armor (from Deepest Guk) adds DEX and svPosion;
Goblin Bone for Calcified Steel armor (Rujarkian Hills) adds AGI and svDisease;
Ice Lichen for Frosted Steel armor (from Miragul's) adds INT and svCold

Tempers can also be used to make chain versions (uses HQ rings). Armor is nice not only because it provides an alternative route for skilling up, but also has TWO augmentation slots which allows for greater customization -- have yet to see anything else in Bazaar that has more than one augmentation slot.

Found temper components on merchants around wayfarer camps (and from Magus), but I imagine they will become more scarce as people realize their value (cost about 10pp from merchants).

Early data shows temper brewing trivial to be in 120-140 range. For smithing trivials chain armor is 140-160, and plate armor 190-210 (but these are just preliminary estimates).

Any idea where I can find the recipes for this armor? This would be great if it bridges that difficult gap (180-215). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I crafted these items and submitted the links. Without decent charisma (forgot to wear the charisma gear) they cost me 61.5pp for the metal, 26pp for the padding, and the temper I got the items from the dungeon to get them myself in a group with avg level of around 64. Even had I to buy the temper or the items for the temper, I don't think the price would much exceed 100pp for these items.

Also note the Slot types of 1 and 2 on the items. That allows for more than basic stat augmentations, and the young folks that might want to use this item will get a nice item for a decent price.

Also to note, these items supposedly bridge the gap in Smithing from 188-214 that was difficult as heck to cover because of gathering requirements. This is substantially lower gathering, only the item for the temper is required to be gatherer, the rest is store bought. Some of the new LDoN crafted items come from Foragable items as well, as long as you have a friend that adventures, and forages, you're set in that department as well.
Strange...

On one hand, I can understand iksars being included, since it seems to be medium sized races. But the classes listed are plate-wearing classes only, so why are iksars listed? I wonder if they meant to include them, or just clicked 'All medium sized classes'.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 09 2003 at 10:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Um, you do realize that an iksar can be a sk or war, a plate wearing class... what are you thinking?

The original poster was right. Iksar generally can't wear plate, until velious era quest armor. Every plate starting at dark forge, sentient, and bloodember are sets iksar are excluded from. Truesilver armor is Iksar wearable and plate looking, but mediocre and rare as hell in Kaesora. Most of the modern plate have been Iksar wearable tho, the Tae Ew armor is basically our cultural smithing, because our real Fearsome Skyiron Armor is so sub-par to where it should be compared to others. For new items its basically a coin toss, sometimes we're included, sometimes not. With the prices of Blood Ember greaves dropping it's making me wish they were Iksar wearable...they're 10k on bristlebane =/

I believe he finds it strange as Iksar aren't supposed to be able to wear plate, at least according to their original racial description (this presumably being to offset their natural AC boost and regeneration).
