as it turns out this item does drop in sseru, i found one on a A Praesertum Functionary just a few minutes ago.
Got this today off of ( A Praesertum Functionary ) in SSeru. Thought it was odd that Gnoll hide Tome dropped in here but it did.

I too just found this item in sseru.. same mob as mentioned.

It used to be this way, back in the day, that if you charmed a mob (ie chanter Dire Charm) and gave it gear, then when charm broke and the mob was killed, it would drop any of the gear items it was given as additional loot. Though why someone would give a Seru class mob this tome is baffling.
It also used to be that you could hand mobs items (if you were non agro to them) and again, when killed, the mob would drop the items. Guilds used to hold events in the newbie zones where they'd go around and randomly hand mobs twink gear for the newbies to find. Once a guild handed out a 100 crafted pies to various mobs in Gfay and had a contest to find the most pies for a prize.

I paid 500 for it on Vazaelle. its great with a stein of moggok. though i may want to sell it if it is worth 4-5k. i really need money.

matbe i got lucky but i took a group of around 35th in and we worked our way back to dude.We didnt even know his dropps and figured why not try to kill him. He dropped in the FIRST time we killed him, and i got a lucky roll on it :)

Posted: Nov 07 2001 at 12:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) -10str isn't that important to int casters, yea the stein of moggok is better if your choosing between the two, but gnoll hide tomb is better for trade skills, as higher int = faster skill lvl increases, and higher wis = better chance of succesfully making what your attempting. But jus do like me, I already got a stein of moggok, now Im looking to get this to pair with it for an overall -10str +20int +5wis +15hps +35svd and maybe a few other stats. That rules!

Wisdom does not mean you have a better chance of success.
Only your skill level determines that.
Your Int/wis, whichever is higher gives you a better chance of increasing your skill.

It has been my experience that higher wisdom equals lower failurs. But even is the is not true, wisdom is a factor in fear resists. Plus status does factor into items, I would not be caught dead with a stein on my necro, but in a pinch I'd use this.

ya dont have heavy armor...
This items is Very nice for wizzies and other classes that use INT.
It is Worth 4-5k

After returning sayers son,and recieving the 1st gnoll slayer,he says to seek out the one-eyed white gnoll,havent found anything like this that drops both a book and an eye. Also heard rumors that the preserved splitpaw eye is not the eye you need. If you know of anything else,or completed the quest (havent found anyone who has yet) please post your results.

Got to get this tomb and a eye and got to get a item from a Rare gnoll in Spike pit and he drops a Baby. Give the baby to the Man in the house in Qeynos Hills. Hail him first. Then hurt him. He should tell you he needs this TOMB and A EYE for a sword. Sword can summon pet like Mistwalker
