So let me get this strait. You use your mana stone to take alost all your hp and click these to bring it all back? Sounds a bit risky. How much you get back when you clicky if your almost out of HP?
Why can't I buy these?

I am a Eru Clr, and have the boots ands Wrists but I can't but the arms or the Helm.. anyone have a clue?
?
# Nov 07 2003 at 7:20 AM Rating: Decent

sure it has good AC but what about the rest? And when u reach lvl 34 u can cast this spell anyway. Would be well worth it if it had some +mana or +HP. Still I guess they better than nother =P
RE: ?

The major advantage is manaless heals...200hp manaless heals have got to come in handy with or without stats. Just use your imagination and think of all the mana saved by a Cleric. Hit a toon with your Heal over time spell, and while its healing them hit this effect a couple times... its 12 second cast so you can get a couple off while your HOT spell is doing its business. Or you can do it the old fashion way and use more mana than need be and sit around medding. Its an on demand world...You dont get it so you sit around medding...

I saw a post below that said this piece of armor works well with a mana stone.. i would think i might work well with a mod rod also, to get some mana back fast...just need a magician. Just a thought.

Mana Stones are an old item that no longer drops. I works similar to the shaman Cannabalize spells (i.e. you sacrifice some life for a bit of mana). This item was taken off of all loot tables about 6 months after release in April 1999. It's VERY rare and fetches a premium, if you can convince the owner to part with it.

The term "mod rod" refers to a line of Magician summoning spells that summons a NO DROP, NO RENT "Modulation Rod". When used (i.e. you right-click it) it causes a fair amount of damage in return for a like amount of mana. Look up the various spell descriptions for more info, as I don't have a magician and as such I'm being quite general in my descriptions.

In both cases, the user must beware! It is possible to kill yourself using either of these items!! (I've seen it done, fortunately it was in the Arena, so no real harm done.) Similarly, necromancers and shamans have "life-to-mana" spells (self-only) that can also be leathal.

I hope that answers any questions.
Just got these.

I found a pair in the Felwyth<sic> Magicians Guild for 362pp. What a buy, but like a poster earlier, can't use the effect.

Its funny that you have to wait to 45th level to cast a spell that a cleric gets at 34. Go Go VI>

have to wait to 45th level to cast a 34 Cleric spell....

Well, considering that it's an effect and, as such, takes ZERO mana to cast, I'd say that having to wait is a pretty fair trade.

Good design choice by Verant, IMHO.

Look at it thise way, put Valor on all the casters, then, when you need to throw little heals at a caster that briefly over-agroed, mana free 200hp heal. I'd say 400pp is worth all the tiny little heals I have to throw nowadays on my clerc =p. (Since the buff is on them, the only thing that is really effecting them is the +200 hp when cast.
cant wait

Some guy on Rodcet Nife listed these for sale, but has a private e-mail. I tried to get ahold of him for months. Oh well, got some different arms that I like as well for now.

I think they put troll on there just to highlight the fact that ixars can't use this, since it's plate :p

Good observation though.

I'd like to add an observation of my own.... iksars can't be clerics either..... whats your point? there ability to wear plate is irrelevant to this item. =P

Can't Wait till 45
# Jul 28 2001 at 12:10 AM Rating: Default
I paid 1000 plat for these and with the Ac 21 and Mana free healing I can't wait to use them. I guess the casting time would have to be really bad for it to matter. But I'll have to wait 5 more levels.

I am a lvl 46 cleric on tribunal, and have a set of these. I know that while running through zones such as Oasis, or really any low-lvl zone, lowbies are always asking for buffs. These Vambs are the perfect solution. To a teen-lvl char, valor is good enough, but when in combat i try to make sure everyone has resolution, if i ever get low on mana or need to do a little healing in between battles (eg enchanter is at 90%), this is a mana free touch up
RE: Useful
# Mar 26 2002 at 6:12 AM Rating: Decent
I don't see how you can use these to touch up health on the enchanter when you keep resolution on everyone. If you cast valor on someone who has resolution up wouldnt you only get the "didn't take hold" message?

At least this is what happens when my buddy is using his deepwater helm that casts daring.

At level 45, of course you wouldn't use this on a tank. Tanks are getting hit 40-50 times in the course of a single fight, and the cumulative effect of AC and higher HP when using complete heal mean that you'd always be using Resolution, your level 44 buff. Once you know who's drawing the taunt, keep Reso on them (and on yourself, so you can keep time).

But for the other members of the group, you'll likely be healing them in downtime, barring grave emergencies. They also have inherently inferior AC -- they'll be dead in 8 hits, by which point the difference of 5-7 AC won't have mattered an ounce. So you keep Valor up on everybody except the primary taunt, who you will be healing in battle anyhow, so that you can heal everybody else mana-free in downtime.

It also frees up spell slots for your stuns, if all you need are celestial heal and complete heal because you're using Valor in downtime. This is particularly true with a dru/shm in the group, who ought to be tasked with spot heals in emergencies where a caster gets aggroed.

And no, I wouldn't wear these instead of Velious quest armor, but that's because I need the wisdom and because there's pride in working that hard for a Velious armor. If you've got another armor you prefer, you can always carry both, and just put the Donal's on when you need to cast the effect.

RE: Minimun level
# Mar 02 2001 at 9:43 AM Rating: Decent
Level 45 - and it also appears to have a much longer casting time than casting the spell yourself. But hey, mana free.
Yeah but at 44 you get the bigger one...

At 44 you get the bigger hp/ac cleric buff so what cleric would be using these arms to cast the level 34 one?

Maybe they'd use it for themselves when alone as a cheap heal but would be casting the big one one
tanks.

That effect is kinda useless by the time you can use it.
RE: Yeah but at 44 you get the bigger one...
# May 07 2001 at 3:08 PM Rating: Default
I agree, they are almost worthless by the time you can use the effect. I have a pair of these and have tried using them for healing during downtime. With the increased casting time it's better to just med up for a heal than it is to stand and use these. And since you get Resolution at 44 you really have no use for casting Valor. I don't even know why I still wear mine, the AC is pretty good I guess.

Aye, clickable. You do have to be wearing them, however.
