The caverns of exile is what's called "sol-c". You can get there from either sol-a or b, but I always ran there through sol-b. You can get a map for it from http://www.mapfiend.net
My team consisted of me, and my two bots, 65/40 cleric, 65/270 bard, and 63/2 druid. Once into sol-c the druid would evac us to the goblin side. That's the quickest way to get to Typhoeus.
From the succor point go straight into the first cave and take a right when it T's. Follow this path through the room with the swinging axe. In the next room with the two sets of stairs, take the stairs to the right; go up and over. The next room is a cave, go up the incline to the left and you'll emerge on a ledge overlooking the fire giant camp. Location is roughly +350, +350. Any of the giants can be a PH for Typheous. If he has the hammer, it is visible in his hand, and he will proc dawncall on you.
On this ledge there are two stationary goblins you'll have to clear and one roamer. The respawn time on the goblins as well as the giants is ~25 minutes. I was able to pull the giants single to the ledge easily. They have a very small aggro radius. You *must* be in melee range to cast on them though, so lull and pacify never work but you really don't need them.
The regular giants hit in the mid to upper 200's unmitigated. Typheous hit in the 400's. Each time I fought him, his rate of attack seemed to increase dramatically after he got below 30%. Perhaps he just resisted slow every time but keep an eye out for that.
All in all this isn't a bad camp. The breastplate sold for a decent amount as well as the spell research items that drop. (Words of abrogation sell for about 3k on Xev.)
I finally have my hammer! I hope this info will help other clerics out on thier hunt. G'luck!

Summoned Cleric Hammers have an insane proc modifier, this probably has a normal procing rate.
The undead Bane damage is noce though.

If in the range slot or does it have to be in primary for the effect to work. I have my summoned proccing hammer of souls, but would start melee with this and switch when the effect took place...any info would be great.

The new temp zone off solb, often called solc. You should get it while you can tho as it will probable disappear with expansion. =O
Definitely NOT a temp zone - just went last night (08/11/2008) and it still exists! This is quite a permanent zone!

Whao time to see those clerics with 20+ DPS :)
I have been hoping that SoE would be nice enough to give clerics another item that has this effect on it. The hammer of the sun is too rare of a drop. Time for this cleric to head to this zone soon.

Newb question...since it is no drop...you wouldn't be able to accidently throw this at a mob could you?
Hehe the range aspect of this item is not to throw but to use the stats Kyriath =) A lovely item in my books and nice to see clerics getting some items =)
