Newb Question
# Sep 03 2004 at 2:41 PM Rating: Default
Does the "Recommended lvl 56" on this or any other weapon mean I wouldn't be able to equip it at all as a lvl 23 Warrior, or that I just wouldn't get the Planar Strike effect? Just the base damage alone would make this a vicious sword at my lvl.

Recommended level means that you won't get full stats until the said level. If it is required level you wouldn't be able to equip it until then.

The proc on this weap is lvl 40, you ay use the sword before then but won't enjoy the proc till ya hit 40.
Great Sword

My warrior loves this weapon. It's nice and fast and keeps agro well. Bought it for 7.5k in Bazaar, and that's damn good for Morden Rasp.

I'd suggest you pick it up if you find it, you won't be disappointed.

For tanking, the sword of the bloodsworn. Its faster, and the stun part of the proc makes it aggro more.

Gomdurig is a nice weapon, but is nowhere near as much hate production.

sword and hammer camp
# Feb 25 2004 at 2:09 AM Rating: Decent

Lol just posted this in the wrong spot so lets try this again.

Guess i just wanted to warn and inform alittle.
I have been trying to get a group to take camp for several weeks now and have had no luck in king camp and little success in upper part of temple, Near the Door.

Have taken 3grups there and had my *** handed to me each time. Usually goes somethign like this, my invise is dropp ahhhhrg.

Cleric usually dies first chanter next and wiz or mag and i get to see the entire blood bath as i try to taunt off agro 4 mobs cause somone didnt stop soon as invis droped but decided to aggro 40 mobs on way to the tank.

So listen no toon lower than 55.
Recommend no lower than 60 and a 65 tank, not a pally less they are stacked.
Shaman is require u no slow these guys eat your soul.
and a High enchanter so when u get adds mez and fight at your leasure.

And if on way to the camp and your invis starts to flash dont freak out and run to the nearest mob u can find. Calmly find a nice open spot and stand between mobs you have to kickem in the nuts to get them to attack here .

My ten cent

Just wanted to say this camp is no push over like some post it as. Most who say so are lvl 65 toons who get bonus damage and by now probrably have like 50 aa's of all kinds going for them.
goood luck let me know how you did it .

Once you get your strategy down, you'll find it much easier than you thought. You are correct about having to kick them in the nuts to get aggro, these guys are in dreamland until you are right in their face.
A 65 tank is certainly not required, as a 55 ranger I was able (with a cleric healing of course) to tank a few of them without being a terrible mana drain. Granted a plate class would have been so much better but you have to take what you get and make the best of it.
It's really kind of hard to get adds or multiple pulls unless you are being deliberatly careless or if you are fighting in an area where 4 or 5 are clustered together.
Good luck smacking gobbies.

Well, I have soloed the earth seer camp and the king camp a couple times (no king spawns though grrr). It isn't really all that hard. I tank soloed, so they don't hit all that hard. Granted since I'm a shaman all the mobs I was fighting were slowed, but still, I was tanking them, not root rotting and letting my pet do melee. A 65 War is definitely not required. especially if they are slwoed.

However you are right about not panicking when invis starts going :)

# Feb 27 2004 at 4:59 AM Rating: Default
just FYI, I've done this with a sub 60 ranger tanking, mixxed 50s and 60s group. Oh and a 65 bard slowing, not a shaman, all in pre-NToV gear... it's not that hard.

Get a good puller and only fight one at a time...
proc and aggro
# Feb 18 2004 at 2:02 AM Rating: Decent
53 Ranger with 152 dex, was fighting in the Hole and Drakpaws and this thing Pro'c like 2-3 times per mob. Let a 47 warrior borrow was getting about 1 proc per mob but was able to steal aggro from me despit me snaring and nuking. I will keep as a solo weapon mainhand to my epic swifty. decent graphic, smaller sword, bright silver blade, green gem in hilt, looks elvish ...

Have 1 for my warrior. great aggro with a boon of the Gouro or however you spell it. Great weapon for the price. picked up for 8.5 k on tribunal server. any one know a good weapon to DW with this beast? currently usin a razor edged shan tok. 12/20 and like 4 STA, 3 STR, 3 DEX and 3 WIS. Thank You.

Sragla Ironblade
I know i suck, but dont all warriors compared to lord Rallos?

Mainhand - Sword of the Bloodsworn
Offhand - Copper Hammer of Striking

MHP - 75dd stun
OHP - 179dd

Best combo, won't come in -full- aggro until 50, but it'll kick up at 40.

And about the magelo PF, you forgot to list your skills..
Word to all, remember to fill in skills accurate to in-game skills, else you'll have 200ac, and 100atk

just get some better hp/ac and you'll be fine... the only problem I generally have tanking is holding aggro.

I'm not in VT/Elemental gear... not even NToV gear.

This weapon procs at lvl 1, not lvl 10, i was lvl 1 when i got this (after a reroll) and I hit for about 6 dmg, and it procced for 76
This sword rocks!
# Nov 26 2003 at 7:51 AM Rating: Decent
Picked this baby up for my 48 warrior yesterday in the Bazaar for 10K. Went back to DL to try it out. Only one proc in 4 mobs. My DEX at that time was 99. Got a Dex buff. That raised it to around 170. All i have to say is Holy Crap! Aggro city. It proc'd on average 2 times per mob and sometimes more. Rarely did it not proc during a fight. When the mobs attention turned to another group member, and the proc went off, the mob immediately turned to me.. I love it! Best weapon i have invested in to date.

Proc Rate?
# Nov 18 2003 at 1:35 AM Rating: Default
I picked one up today, and had a vastly different exp. The proc rate was 1 time in 3 mobs. all three mobs were green too, hits were landing nearly 90% of the time.

Either this item has been nerfed, or there is another factor in this to consider. Are any of the stats related to the proc? my warrios charisma is way low.

If it was nerfed, it was a mean nerf, I mean 1 hit in 3 mobs?

Would someone who currently has this sword after 11/17/03 go and test it out on some mobs in GD and let us know the rate you currently get?

The rotting flesh hunter in Field of Bone is light blue to my 25 bard. When he finally started to run at 10% I began meleeing with this sword in my primary, and it procced like four times, which was kind of annoying as it kept interupting my songs. I have 141 dex.

Just so you know, procs do not interupt songs. It just makes the casting bar disappear. And even that bug has been fixed I believe.

What is your Dex? Proc rate is based on dex.

Get a Boon of the garou cast on you, then go try it out.

Also, try it on a real mob, not some greenie. Most greens die too fast to really see what a weapon does.

I highly recommend trying it out on some PoP mobs, or maybe the droga mobs (they have tons of HP). This seemed to proc about 3 times a fight last time I was in droga, which is slightly less than the CHoS procs.

Against wimpier mobs (velks spiders, for example) it procs about 1-2 times a fight for me.

Note, this is in offhand, I use the CHoS primary, because it seems to proc more frequently.

it does pull agro
# Sep 06 2003 at 11:23 PM Rating: Decent
im a 58 war. and have been having a hard time pulling agro from say a monk or rogue because the warrior taunt abilty is not what it used to be but with this bad boy when it procs its instant agro on you so if ya looking to gain an edge in getting agro i would suggest getting this weapon
RE: it does pull agro
# Nov 21 2003 at 9:02 AM Rating: Default
on the contrary, its exactly what it used to be, you just need to know how it works, your probably one of those warriors who just constantly clicks taunt to gain aggro while fighting, you need to time your taunts, all taunt does is give you +1 to the highest persons aggro when you click it, with a chance to fail or succeed, so if it works you will get aggro even if just for a second if you can't dish out some damage to maintain it on you, in short learn the physics of a skill then use it properly and it will work exactly like its supposed to, altho yes this is a nice proc for aggro simply because of the stun factor, they pull much much more aggro than any straight dd in normal combat usually would.

75dd + 0 sec stun, is EXACTLY the same as the Ykesha proc. Is there something different about this (resisted less, hits on higher level), or is it just a juiced up yak?
RE: Ykesha?
# Sep 05 2003 at 2:28 PM Rating: Excellent
The short answer is "Yes." It hits on higher levels, and the proc is a juiced up version of a yak's proc.

Proc for Ykesha (via LUCY):

Slot Description
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 75
2: Stun(0.00 sec)

Planar Strike
Slot Description
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 75
2: Stun(0.00 sec/65)

To elaborate:

It's that "/65" ... the stun lands on MOBs up to 65 (not all of them, some will be innately immune to Stuns, or have high resists).

I don't remember what the cutoff is for "Ykesha" Stun, but my Sarnak Warhammer says right on the weapon description that it works on MOB's up to level 55, and I assume that it is the same for the Ykesha line.

Take it with a grain of salt, but my understanding of aggro with stuns is landed > resisted > immune, and that the difference aggro-wise is slight.

But the only stun that interrupts a spell being cast is a landed stun, and that's worth a WOOT when they're trying to gate :).

I think I read on The Steel Warrior that the proc message used to be the same as the Ykesha proc message, too. But that may have been the message on the Greatstaff of Thunder ... I have taken many blows to the head, during my career :P.
RE: Ykesha?
# Sep 07 2003 at 10:51 PM Rating: Decent
The thing to remember (from a warrior's point of view) is that whether or not the stun is resisted, it's still monster aggro. Yes, landing the stun is nice, and the 75 hp DD is nice, but even a resisted stun is awesome aggro. (Ask any shaman who's eaten dirt due to a resisted slow)
yes really o sec
# Aug 28 2003 at 10:08 PM Rating: Default
yuppers the sword is really 0 sec stun interups casting on a mob but thats is about it but for the record it will **** the mob off =)
