this um doesnt have the requirements. which means on a younger char tyou would have 10 strength and 60hp. way nice... actually...

Wrong, a younger player won't have the full stats. Requirements only works toward wearing, Recommended goes toward if you get full or just some stats until you reach the rec lvl.
Decent for a bard

I agree that this bp by today's "standards" is not a great choice for a main tank. However, I really think this is a decent bp for a bard. At lvl 54, I just got this and I think it suits me well. Nice hps and sta, ac is mediocre but I don't intend to take that many hits, and cha is always welcome. Being a half elf, worshiping veeshan, I have no cultural armor to look forward to, so this is a nice piece of armor to hold me over for a few lvls.

*EDIT* I was mistaken, there is a cultural armor for Veeshan bards, Dragonkin Heraldic. However, this stuff is so rare on my server that I've just learned about it.

AC.....

ok as a 56 cleric with about 800 ac self buffed... PoV mobs hit me for about 400-500... with NO armor on (corpse run :-/) they hit for for 400-500 so in other words really high lvl tanks r still gonna get hit for the same damage if there BP has 55AC or 33AC so don't worry too much about 20 AC people

So how did you go from really underequipped cleric, to really high end tank?

You realize that your only defense/avoidance skill is dodge, and its capped low?

A TANK has a variety of defensive/avoidance skills, that can help mitigate/avoid hits. Ac helps a LOT, and most highend tanks say its as important, if not MORE important, than HP.

ok, if you only have that for an ac at lvl 56, you need to get off your tush and tank some light blues for a little while(that or seriously re-think your gear scheme)

i know a 52 cleric has close to 1k ac and thanks to his offense, defense, and 1hb being maxed (as well as style of play) there have even been times i can recall that he has finished an LDON mission in the last 10 minutes tanking mobs long enough to root and back off and ensure the casters arent taking hits so they can do their job when the main tank has gone LD!

wis is very important for a cleric but dont let it be the only thing you judge new gear on if you decide to wear it. balance in your char is the key.

Especially with the new gear and weapons (summoned even) that sony gives clerics i mean come on they WANT you to tank/melee!

now before this starts a flame, keep in mind that this is excluding major raids or raid mobs. clerics first priority is always healing. but if you are at 56 then you should be grouping with folks that know how to manage aggro and give you the chance to get up off your butt and swing that summoned hammer! with KEI you should be just fine on the mana pool as long as you tell those nuke happy wizzies they get no heals if they pull aggro off the main tank /grin *thinks that will learn em*

as always there are times that are inappropriate for the cleric to be doing anything other then healing or sitting. but ive found for the most part that a cleric can add that extra umph to the dps that can make the differance between ordinary and extra-ordinary....... or between a corpse run and a long breather.

lastly, remember those long cleric stuns = less damage the mob deals, keep a mob stuned for two rounds, thats one less complete heal you have to cast if hes quad hittin for 400-500.

as far as this bp goes, its twice what this cleric is wearin, and self buffed hes pushin 1k ac with 3k hp at lvl 52.

What a stupid post. AC helps mitigate damage. And that raw AC continues to raise as you level. HP's are the most important for tanks, but low AC does mean you're going to get hit for more, more often. Those lesser hits that are not 500+ are the ones that your armor is mitigating.

Not too shabby of a BP for the "plate restricted" Iksar Shadowknights, that is, if you can not afford or have the skills to create the better PoP BP's (like me, smithing 102 heheh). At least it's another option to look at.

Even tho the classes allowed includes tanks, I look at this BP and the first thing that comes to mind is cleric. The ac isn't bad, but as neivas said down a little bit, the str/wis/mana makes it worthwhile, and comparable to cleric BP's of this level, at least that's what I think.
Breastplate AC is the ticket

Well I will say the BP is not bad, but if you want a really good BP for 50+ work your smithing or shop bazaar for underfoot platemail BP it rocks (51 AC) (+5 STA) (+10 WIS) (+40 HP) (+40 MANA) sells on Innoruuk server for 10-15K depending on when you shop...I make them and sell them for 12K myself...

ofcourse if you follow brell and are one of the little people...lol IE DWF HEF HFL GNM

...the AC seems a bit low for main-tank chest armor that has a recommended level of 50. My paladin character is level 52, and he would probably wear this over his Enchanted Dwarven Breastplate, but he's also not a very well equipped paladin. Smiley: wink

He's a halfling, though, so that makes up for a lot! Smiley: waycool

I disagee. I think this would be a viable breastplate all the way up to 60. My Paladin is level 57 right now and wearing Barbed Ringmail, and I tank quite well with it. As you can guess, I'd take this in a second. This is a VERY good breastplate.

Disagree, this is an Average BP by todays standards but quite nicely balanced, not gonna rock anyones world but not going to be left to rot, either.
For a low 50's Paladin (or Cleric) it wouldn't be too bad, it has some nice stats but coming up to 55 and over I wouldn't want to be wearing this and tanking.

If you are tanking at 57 with a 30ac BP I would say that your group mates are not only decent players (they will have a much harder job keeping you alive that other high 50's Paladins, I would think) but decent people as well as I have heard plenty of tales of players being kicked from or refused groups due to their equipment.
I would suggest taking a look at your armour and compare it to other Knights in your level range. Perhaps slow down your leveling to get some upgrades, either through raids or farming (and buy)
30AC Chain is not what I would expect to see someone wearing when they offer to tank for a mid - high 50's group.

I Disagree as well. This IMO is a great BP. The reason sumone will say it is OK by todays standards is because they obviously are shopaholics in the bazaar. I myself try and stear clear of the bazaar when I can. Mind you, I do shop there, but I like looting my gear. Even if it means handing it down to my lower alt to use. If a low cle or war or shd was handed this...and followed same gaming style. I am sure this might be still be worn into 50's.

-----------------------------------------------

I think you might want to take a look at the bigger picture. One piece of equipment will not determine how able your groupmates are at keeping you alive. You wear a 30 AC BP in high 50's, and you may be able to do just fine.

I personally am wearing a 32 AC BP at lvl 56, and when I'm buff'd and tanking, my AC is well into the 1240's. One weaker piece of equipment does not 'make the man'. That's the beauty of having so many slots to fill, you can easily balance off the character quite nicely by other means.

Having said that, I also know what it's like to group with a higher lvl tank that has chunt gear. I grouped with a pally that was 3 lvls higher than me, and I had him beat on AC by like 70. He wanted to be the puller, and ended up getting spanked to death. Didn't even get his LoH off. The mob then turned on me and we cut it to the ground without a problem. I've noticed that a few more AC will sometims take you above the mass-damage line of certain mobs, and they become much less able to put the smack down. I think the critical thing to do with any character is have a solid balance on the most vital stats that that particular char needs. Paladins need AC in a big way.

I'd have to disagree with you there Fel. There just isn't much good stuff out there for a tank in their 50s to get. Until your guild can progress to the point of doing Vindi/Garudon or the Velious Quest armors/PoG, there isn't much that is better than this item. And the mid 50s is coincidentally when this usually starts to happen. And if a player found themselves without a guild, or in one too small to accomplish any of those feats, then I think they would (and should) be perfectly happy with this BP. It beats a Moktor BP, which is the most likely alternative for a player like that.

So short of farming insane amounts of plat to buy a planar tradeskill BP, this is about as good as it gets for a casual player.

I *am* a casual player and at 55 I wouldn't look twice at this. When I was 50 I certainly would have, back before everyone started selling cultural BPs for under 10k...In other words..when I was 50 was a long while ago. As I said, casual player.

Xaanru already pointed out what could be worn in place of this, in comparison to a 51ac BP that can be worn at 45th this is an average tank BP, imo.

To Terrefu, it did occur to me that the rest of his equipment might not be so low in AC but by failing to mention it I can only assume it isn't so hot. I wasn't trying to suggest it can't or shouldn't be done, only that he could slow up and farm or (pick-up, if necessary) raid to get better.

Again, I have heard so many nightmare stories of people getting refused or kicked from groups because of their equipment, it is kind of nice to hear that it might actually be the exception rather than the norm.

Blah blah blah, cultural armor is out there for a reason. Go find a gm smith kiss his butt or pay him for combine. I was very fortunate and had a good friend who is GM smith made all my armor so i never had to worry about AC. The other stats on this are nice and if you can't get your hands on ornate or cultural by the times you are ready to hit PoP, you should be able to make enough money in PoJ or any teir one plane to go buy better. Once you are in teir 2 or 3 that 20 plus AC on a bp and the additional ac on other pieces will be needed. Until then don't bash someones gear and refusing someone a group spot because of their gear is absurd. Have them assume dps role and get someone who can handle MT duties not everyone is in a uber guild and frankly not everyone wants to be in one. Everyone deserves a chance to show their stuff, and sending someone on their way because they only have 30 ac just makes me shake my head and wonder how many asshats are out there that I have yet to meet 8(

Heraldic
Underfoot/brellium
Full Mithril
Darkscale

Etc etc.

All over 50ac, and better stats than this. Most of the tanks in my guild use some form of Cultural armor, Or are in the proces of getting it.

Only saving grace to this is the 8 sta and 60hp. Makes it an upgrade from acrylia/royal velium.

Thing to note is, its RECOMMENDED level of 50, not required. A lvl 45 or higher would still get decent stats out of this, and this is a great BP for tanking drolvargs in DL.

This isn't just a tank BP, I'd give this to my cleric any day over a war/shd/pal/brd, for the additional str/wis/mana and HP. And a decent AC on it also.
