ATK does not affect your chance to hit rate that is influenced by your skill level, your char level and your Str (which does show some attack)
what ATK does do is affect the damage done when you do hit, and it also has diminishing returns based on the mob's AC and level but the higher your attack is the more you will see your max damage on any given hit and less 14 (main hand) or 1 (off hand) point hits
This didnt drop of a ghastly ghost for us... dropped of the same mob that drops the Brittlebone Armguards (had 2 belts and 1 armguard off him in 1 night) wandered from inside a building to outside the pit area where rabid chodiki spawn
Dont remember the guy who dropped it, but the PH is certanily that wanderer, no doubt about it.
when did rogues become a tank lol they are a dps from behind if you have low dex youll miss tons, rogue is not a tank class, best stats for a rogue would be dex str ajil, dex helps with hits and procks on wepons,to the guy who posted and thinks rogues are tanks needs to not buy his guy off ebay
The most important stat in PoP is HP, for nearly every class.
DEX is great if you have a proccing weapon, but as Phack said, it has diminishing returns (though not quite as bad as the sellback cap with CHA) But DEX is a great stat, IMO. I use a proccing weapon in my primary, and can definately tell the difference in procs between unbuffed 220ish (with resist gear on) and buffed 280.
As a Rogue, my primary focus now is HP/STA gear, but before PoP, I went for DEX and STR gear. This would have been a great belt for me back in my mid 50s though, but now my DEX and STR are maxed with the Focus line of spells and the payoffs aren't that great anymore.
Heh rogues are meant to do damage not to take, if you get agro in a group then turn attack off and evade, the most important rogues stats are str+dex for procs, and as for raids, you should have separate gear to use on raids anyway. ~_^
Tank or not, hitpoints are still the 2nd most important stat for most classes other than tanks, in which it is the most important.
Ever heard of AE spells? I'm not talking the ones the goblins in HHK have that hit you for 50... I'm talking about ones that hit you for 600hp+. Some encounters (Grummus, Manatec Behemoth) can be made or broken by how many hp people have. I'd much rather have over 5000hp with raid buffs than just over 3000.
How about when a mob enrages and aggro gets messed up and it turns around on the rest of the raid instead of the MT? That kind of thing does happen for whatever reason... and it helps to be able to take a couple hits before you can turn off auto-attack.
How about when the MT dies? What would you rather do? Run away and get no exp because you have such low hp that you can't even tank a slowed mob for longer than 3 combat rounds and have to run? Or be able to tank with heals, keep the rest of the group alive, and get exp?
DEX has diminishing returns as far as how much it helps, just like CHA when buying things. My Gomdurig procs just as much with 200 DEX as it does with 255 DEX. I hit just as much as well. The only thing that affects how much I hit is ATK. Hence why I said ATK is the most important stat, followed by STR, then HP/STA. Talk to any rogue over level 55 and if they know what they are doing they will agree.
I'm not talking about Joe Rogue who is level 25 in HHK. Before you go spouting off about how I E-Bayed my character, learn something about the high end game, mmkay?

Wrong. ATK is a rogue's main stat.... which means that vicariously, STR is a rogue's main stat. Followed by HP/STA, AC, and then DEX and everything else.
Rogue's "obscene" DPS comes mostly from double backstabs, and backstabs. Crit backstabs are fairly rare seeing as we don't even get the ability to crit until we are level 55 and have at least 8 AA's. (6 in general + 2 for Combat Fury 1)... need 12 just to be able to do it with any kind of regularity (CF3).
Combat Fury 3 is a 7% chance to crit. Thats right. 7. Not even 10%. The chances of critting on a hit that happens once every 8-6 seconds (depending on haste) are very small. Of course it happens, but crit backstabs are by no means the main attributing factor to rogue DPS.
