#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 16 2003 at 11:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) um monk here i can tell you agi IS huge factor specaly after they nerfed out mitigation lol sure we have high ac so fugging what when a mob hits you for max dmg each time ac means squat now. AGI/DEX rule all for monks i still get nailed for high dmg alot but come dual me on RN and wach how much you miss my *** im 63 an fight 65 tanks and win i do 6K+ dmg in the same time they hit me for2.5k cause the hardly land blows my agi is 223 dex 233, hell im a stat **** cause my sta is 209 self buffed and my str is 220

******, AGI gives a tiny boost to AC avoidance and is the rate you learn def skills. It's not that big of an effect. The only reason why you THINK you're dodging all those blows is your defensive skills whihc has nothing to do with AGI.

"im 63 an fight 65 tanks and win i do 6K+ dmg in the same time they hit me for2.5k cause the hardly land blows "

hehe, actually the reason the ratio is of your dmg to theirs is so is because of the purposes of the classes. Tanks are meant to take dmg and monks are meant to dish it out. For a tank to beat a monk he has to out joust him...not to say your agility doesnt have alot to do with this but the roles of the class types has more to do with it than anything. Well that and their apparent lack of jousting ability...

CoF or CoCW as good or better
# Feb 12 2002 at 10:09 AM Rating: Decent
Cloak of Flames (Naggy): +10 AC +9 Agi +9 Dex +15 vsFire +50 HP 0.00 Wt 36% Haste
Cloak of Crystaline Waters (Kelorek'Dar in Cobalt Scare): +10 AC +9 Agi +9 Dex +15 vsCold +50 Mana +0.10 Wt 36% Haste

I know my Monk will be wearing the CoF once she gets leveled up. Both the CoCW and the CoF are quite buyable on Brell. Both Dragon Cloaks have 9 dex/agi which are the primary Monk stats. The CoF also has 50 HP which is very important to a Monk. 10MR is also a great thing to have for a Monk.

In conclusion the Rakusha Cloak is not a bad Monk Item but neither is it what I would consider good God Loot. Overall, Inny drops some pretty poor loot for being a God, but then he is the DE God and I guess he is compairable, God-wise, to the DE Gaurds in Nek.
RE: CoF or CoCW as good or better
# Mar 19 2002 at 4:48 PM Rating: Decent
Agi and Dex are only marginally useful to monks - they are NOT primary monk stats. Agility gains you some small amount of AC - probably 2 AC if the rest of your gear matches the CoF/CoCW. Dex is also of marginal utility. Sta/HP is what saves our hides time and again.

I do agree that the CoF/CoCW are comparable items. The 50 HP of the CoF is HIGHLY desirable. The 10 MR on the Rakusha is sweet, and I'd love to have it, but since I already have a CoCW that I will some day convert to a CoF, I'd probably pass on this item so another monk could get it.

# Apr 18 2002 at 5:12 PM Rating: Default
OMG! HOW can you say AGI isn't a primary monk ability when it is THE primary monk ability. AGI doesn't only add AC, it PREVENTS you from getting hit, PERIOD. High agi = less hits, plain and simple.
RE: CoF or CoCW as good or better
# Jul 31 2002 at 12:52 AM Rating: Good
YOU ARE WRONG. had to put it in caps hoping i can knock you off your little pedastal up there. 6.666 AGI = 1 AC, and that is it, nothing else. "less hits" comes from block/dodge/riposte, which again come with level. Stats like agi and dex are junk, AC and HP are all that matter

#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 14 2002 at 8:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Less hits does come from block, dodge and riposte. But exactly what stat do you think these skills are based on? Yes, you would be right to think that they are based on Agi.

The only thing that determines a block, dodge, parry, whatever is skill level only.
Agility adds a tiny amount of AC. It also determines how quickly defensive skills improve.

I think the person that posted Agil being the primary monk stat was kidding.

Someone mentioned that the Rakusha was some kind of mythical shapeshifter. I thought that the name was actually "Rakshassa", an evil, shape-shifting creature from Indian (as in the country of India) mythology.

Why does anyone have anything to complain about with regards to this item? It is monk only! There should be no discussion of monks versus other classes because NOBODY but monks can use this item! If you aren't a monk, why are you even reading about this item?! I don't read stuff about enchanter-only items. If I did, I wouldn't post things about how enchanters are evil and monks are good.

Innoruuk has a rather large loot table containing some 10 or 15 items. Many of the items that he has SOMETIMES show up on the mini-bosses. This includes the Rakusha cloak which very rarely shows up on Grandmaster R'Tal.

Rakusha is a japanese word and amongst other things (male geishas) a ninja tactic, I guess that's the most fitting one. The tactics lure the victim into laziness by giving them wealth, women, whatever the victim desires and bringing them to fall through their weakness. Guess you could say the monk moves so quickly, they exploit the laziness of their victim to strike them. Only reasonable explaination I could find /shrug

My god I never heard so many lil' ****** in my life. All classes complain about monks. Monks get this, monks get that. STFU. You dont have to deal with the hassle of pulling for your fragile warrrior asses. Sure you get your crafted, your indo, cobolt. We get cured silk and less then par cresent armor. Most all Kunark armor is better then the planes gear. Monks planes gear is sadly barely better then cresent gear. So before you go ******** about us getting some halfway decent gear. Look at the **** you guys get. It's ten fold to what we get. Oh and one last thing STFU
RE: STFU
# Sep 18 2001 at 7:43 PM Rating: Default
1 small thing is overlooked by almost all monks. we armor wearers need the higher ac,cuz our naked ac (determined by defense skill) is much lower then that of a monk at the same level. besides monks have higher skills in dodge/parry/reposte and even get another skill here: block.what i am trying to say is,monk can reach the same ac on his char, with much lower ac items.
it's all in the balance of the classes.

you say monks have higher skills in dodge/parry/riposte and also get block....slight correction. Yes, monks have higher skill maxes in dodge and riposte, but they have the skill block INSTEAD of parry, not IN ADDITION to, which is how you said it. Anyway, everybody is evened out in the end, monks have higher natural ac, but lower ac on gear...other meleers have low natural AC, but higher ac on gear. Doesn't matter where ya get the ac, as long as ya get it.

Oh by the way...because I play a monk and I'd like to fan the flames by non-monk players whining about gear and what-not, you guys seen the legs dropped by the Avatar of War? Flayed barbarian skin leggings, monk only...60AC....lol, that's higher than the warrior kael bp. Eat that(ya ya ay AoW is unkillable now that giants can't be mezzed...the fact is that the item exists). Oh and how about Brother Xave's headband? monk only, 45 ac, tons of stats, 15 to all resists, and haste(prolly the 40 percent variety), vulak'aerr has been dropping it =)

Nice cloak doubt I will ever see it as I am not in an 'Uber' Guild and therefore unlikely to ever kill Inny..oh no wait am I being Ignorant cause i called him Inny..doh woe is me..

Another thing I would like to say, you named 3 Weps, Jade Mace (15k) Wu Stick (5k) KD (5k), then say the list goes on and on, well come on then name some more good Monk weps..oh you mean a crappy baton? or are you talking the cracked staff? I for one would love to hear it.

Of course you mean IFS (25k+) Or maybe a Peacebringer (25k+) or maybe the TStaff (25k+) or maybe you mean Efreeti's Ice Staff (God knows) You notice something familiar about all these weps? notice how they all have an outrageous price tag? do you even know why that is? let me inform you 'rarity' ahh so all these 'great' monks weps that you want to bang on about are stupidly rare, and very very hard to get a hold of.

Personally I will do a few Fear and a few Hates for the experience of having done them, but after that I will not waste my time on either, 12 hours of hard bloody work, on the off chance that this cloak might drop, or a Sode, bah hardly worth the hassle really is it. Esp since I already have a haste item and usually I am grouped with Shammy/Chanter for Haste buffs. Bah now I have rambled.
LMAO
# Apr 04 2001 at 8:47 AM Rating: Good
Anyone saying Monks get all the good items needs to roll up a monk and play one.

Jade Mace? Hmm Whenever that drops in KC EVERY class including casters roll on it.

Why? Because it's ALL/ALL.

There is a reason Warriors get a plethora of nice items and monks get squat.

Fear armor with the exception of boots and gloves is pretty weak.

What the heck are you doin' with cured silk at that level. You should be down to your last piece of Wu's, and if luck has it, every piece of that shoulda been replaced. I'm only 51 and I finally ditched my last piece of Wu's for upgraded items, and it wasn't twink stuff. Simple raids to places like Kael, Western Wastes, and even the Fear Plane finished me up. *shrug* Might wanna re-evaluate your gear man.

I am really pissed off with people like you. Every other class has an easy time getting any armor they need. Lets see, WArriors have crafted, SKs have DF, Pallies has Ro armor, Rangers have that ivy cords stuff, Pure casters, well, all they need is INT and mana stuff, Clerics can wear fine plate, and shamans/druids, well, they can wear leather. Rogues can wear whatever, I dont know about them. But what do monks get? Cured Silk? And a Fighting Baton compared to a Wurmslayer/Lammy? Then the warriors wine that "Hey! That monk gets a haste cloak off a DEITY. When you on the other hand can either go get a CoF off a goblin or a Cloak of Crystalline Waters from who knows where.

Ok, Im done ranting.
