Would just like to point out that mobs only riposte if you attack them from the front. Caster dps is never enough to be of much significance, but it's still fun to play around with.

Btw..why do people always have to be so rude and condecending on these threads? (refering to you IceDrake)

Don't read posts made before you post, do you? It is a good weapon when you think about it. Melee is very possible for some casters so it's a very practical weapon in some situations. :)

Actually it is a nice weapon for int casters when they melee, it works best with necros though cause they can lifetap if they take to much damage from repostes if and AE whatever and they can add a lifetap proc. I like to melee on my necro when all I have to do is be a manabat on raids cause it gets boring sitting around, not casting any dots because the mob dies to fast from the raids DPS.

Why put a proc on an INT caster wep? Hrm, well, some mobs are near to 100% MR, so spells will for the most part be useless as an enchanter. <all our spells are MR based> So why not take a wep and at least try to add SOME damage? I know that with my Staff of the Silent Star I did over 12K damage to the Dain of Thurg..MELEE. <400DD proc> Oh..I have this as well now. So I can dot with this staff then DD until the dot wears off with my other. :)

dumb question

correct me if im wrong but combat means a proc which means they have to be fighting which i dont see ever happening so y bother putting a proc on a pure int casters weapon

You are right, dumb question. With shammy focus even int casters have high enuff dex to proc this weapon. Fighting and tanking are 2 diff things. Why wouldnt an int caster step up to poke a mob with this? One proc adds 30/tick DoT. Proc the weapon and continue as usual. More dps on a mob is more dps, no matter who's poking it.

Yeah, I can see alot of casters being excited about adding the 5 DPS this DoT provides (30 a tick / 6 seconds)

it's not a dumb question. plenty of people have wondered "why bother," and for the most part... most casters will not bother meleeing. casters really don't want to get smacked by end game mobs.. because just 5 seconds agro can mean death. 30 points a tick? please.. not even worth it imo. a melee class hits for over 30 damage so often that this is near insignifigant. of course, with those ice comet procing weapons, things change... but this weapon is not worth the risk of dying.
cool
