Healing Proc
# Feb 13 2005 at 7:50 PM Rating: Default
Two Words CRIT HEAL !!!! Yes, you can crit heal proc using your crit heal aa. Put an ldon Vampire lifetap for 75HP/crit150hp, and you are healing for 360 to 150 per proc. The proc rate increased when you aug proc with this. Make 150 crit proc damage and you crit healed 300. That makes this a 360 crit heal and 150damage/300heal crit tap like madman weapon. Those are similar to the HOT spells healers use.

Procs
# Sep 22 2004 at 9:13 AM Rating: Decent
While there may be some disadvantages to this sword (small damage bonus, no AC), it still has it's uses for most Paladins. I have found that the sword procs fairly frequently, averaging 6.7 procs per fight. This and the sheer speed make it an excellent sword for Paladins who are frequently called on to offtank mobs on raids. The speed helps to keep good aggro, and the heal proc, when combined with our quick-cast heal over time, can relieve the mana burden of the druid assigned to keep you alive. Overall, I am quite impressed with it and it will stay in my ********
Agreed

I agree with ya Deethleech. I wish this sword had an AC stat to it as well. Its very quick, which is nice. Im a fan of 2hs, and to see this sword hit pretty much as fast as a 1hs is fun . And the proc,..lol..is kinda silly. If you are high enough , and able enough to obtain this weapon, there is really no scenario where an occasional 180 hp heal is beneficial. Mebbe if ya go to Mistmoore and train yourself with 20 greenies, and as you kill em off one by one , your occasional proc keeps you at a consistent 97% life , as you are getting tapped for 14 points of damage per mob. Then....its beneficial ....sorta. =)
Really it is a fun weapon to own . I have shelved some others i was using to play with this now that i own it , and i think any pally would find it good to have in their ********

I got this sword just tonight and it's hard to say if it is better then my Greatstaff of the Four Winds or not. It's a good weapon until you start hitting ele planes or can get the hammer from VZ no doubt. The proc doesn't go off near as much as my staff proc does, it seems I am lucky to get it to go off 1-2 per fight when i solo.. once in awhile 3, quite a bit 0. Don't count on the proc to keep you alive. It's definetly fast and seems easier to hold agro with, though the stats and hp on it are kinda low. Looks like the little graphic from link does. All in all not a bad weapon, only wish it had some ac and maybe proced more.
More pocs?
# Jan 15 2004 at 11:39 AM Rating: Decent
I know this will probably get argued back and forth but I'm looking for someone who can tell me for sure if low delay makes a weapon proc more?
No I'm not stupid. I know it makes sense that more hits = more procs. But is the proc based on per hit or is it on a random timer?
I'd really like to hear from someone who has this weapon and another weapon with the same proc but higher delay and tell me if you notice a difference between the weapons as to if one proc's more than the other or not.
Personally I've used ward of nife on my 2hs and on 1hs and it doesn't appear at all that I proc more wish 1hs. Then again that's a buff proc instead of weapon proc.

procs are timed to a certain amount of swings coinsided by the delay of your weapon.so in other words, fast weapon with proc A,procs the same amount as slow weapon with proc A coinsided by how many swings you take. if you swing the slow weapon many time more by specail ablites (speed of the knight, warrior rampage) the slow weapon will proc more. otherwise, they proc at the same rate.
check warrior's ways to farm with AE weapons and rampage.they are more elaborate about the subject.
Not that great

The low delay causes the damage bonus to be significantly lower than you want. This weapon will not do near the damage a weapon with 28 delay or more has. Even if the 28 delay weapon has a much worse ratio. It can also cause problems when fighting mobs with high max hits as you end up taking more ripostes because you swing more. As a paladin you also will lose DPS because generally any spells you cast in combat will take longer than the delay and you'll take longer to swing.

So I'd say it's a fun weapon but realistically it's lacking in alot of areas.

Biz.
Umm were not a DPS class
# Nov 20 2003 at 11:23 PM Rating: Default
Paladins and shadowknights are worst DPS melee in game except for bards, the reason why is because our offensive skills cap at 225. We will probably never have the same DPS as a warrior cept vs undead. Were a defensive class, we take dmg and we do a lil bit of healing (group heals = pwn). Never have been asked into a group as a DPS giver....if ya relaly want dps...get a rogue, monk, mage or wizard.
DPS classes

For the end of your post, dun forget Rangers. They're pretty wicked in the DPS end as well. And Paladins and SKs are not bad at the DPS, SKs get nice fast-cast damage spells, and Palis get their weapons procs(more against undead, and the non-undead one is a bit of a pain to quest). PAL, SK also make good offtanks in LDoN groups who lack mezzing capability.
Good pal wep ?

Can anyone that has this tell me whether its any good? Ratio certainly looks sweet but im looking at the low delay and therefore dmg bonus. Sure its sweet .. but would like to know before i dedicate my life to gettin one lol

You better believe that it's a good weapon, as a Paladin, your 2 main focuses are:

1: Have as much AC/HP as possible so that you take as little damage as possible, as well as be able to sustain massive ammounts of damage

2: Relieve your cleric of some healing, to save him/her mana.

At no time is a paladin a damage dealer (excepting in cases where you'll be fighting undead. I've been invited to MMC groups with my paladin as DPS, which is just totally insane when I swing 6 times and see Instrument of Nife proc 6 times). Your job is as clear as any Warrior/SK, generic meatshield 01.

While this weapon offers no AC, it offers tank focus number 1, HP, and 100 of them. Also, the 180 hp heal proc, while not enough to recover when fighting mobs that quad for 500, is enough to allow your cleric an extra 1-3 rounds to CH heal you. Over time, that's a lot of mana your cleric can save.

I hate to say this but please play a paladin into your 60s when you might actually have a shot at attaining this item, first of all while not usually coming close to a rog/monk/rng dmg output, sks/pallies deal out some serious damage, you are correct on your first point, hp + ac = #1, however we are indeed a dps class, just becuase we are a dps class capable of not only dealing damage but taking it as well doesnt make us no longer a main role of dealing damage, sure we can tank exp mobs, but raid style, not usually unless of course you are in afterlife and are completely PoT equipped and have 400+ aas =P, but anyhow, the point is our main focus is to deal as much damage as possible, which we do quite well, if we didnt then no one would invite us into groups, becuase quite frankly even at higher levels in exp groups altho its not uncommon to find a pally tanking, its much more common to find a pally sk as a secondary tank to a warrior, if you want meatshield look no further than them, it was them you described in your post not pally/sk, they are not a dps class, no one invites a warrior into a group at 60+ for their damage dealing capabilities, they are pure meat grade a 12oz slabs... so basically you are incorrect on your view of pallies, we are infact dps, and as for IoN yes that proc does make us MORE effective against undead, however 243dmg proc doesnt make us only useful to undead, considering at 50+ you should be hitting for that or even more normally every swing + double attack = not that big of a damage difference between undead and regular mobs, so your theory is flawed there chief, its just we are more effective than usual against undead, not that we become effective only against them =) just my 2cp -

ok.. what role do we as pallys play in raids. Well I have come to the understanding that pallys are the save your rear end class. Need agro off your cleric quick? few stuns..there ya go. Need a group heal...or how about Hands of Piety or LoH, both emergency uses. In EXP groups.. We tank, and seldom dps. I get bored stiff when grouping with an equily equiped war tanking. I end up taking agro way to easily, and end up being a gymped war. A few heals, and I have agro, a stun or two, and I have agro. So most of the time I end up tanking anyway. Well.. lets get back to the subject...the weapon above. I would use it in a heartbeat. For tanking it has everything I can use. as said above.. 100hps, not to mention 100 mana. And for a pally mana = agro. The proc I love, I use jelorin and the hammer of silent screams when I exp grind on my own. The 198+ heals I get (frequently) makes it saves my druid lots of mana in order to nuke. (and yes I tribox) I like the low delay for that reason, more swings = more procs.
