As of 5 July 2004, the spell definately does NOT use a portal fragment. I dont know if it did in the past. btw, I have a 58 mage I dont play anymore, because wizards are the best :)~ When you get manaburned on a zek server dont go cryin to your momma cause you chose to play a magician.

Yeesh such a long argument over an easy-to-check thing. Look up the spell effect by clicking the link above, or check Lucy.
Spell: Translocate (to bind) does not use any reagents. Nonetheless, this is indeed a very nice book, especially for raiders. Quite often people have to leave early for one reason or another and request TLs of their wizzies. Saves a spell gem and the time it takes to mem/wait for the gem to refresh, as well as mana.
Again, neither the book nor the level 50 spell require a reagent.
Translocate is a "gate target to bind" spell and doesn't use a portal fragment. However, this is a mana-less TL. It is very handy actually as people with the capacity to have this probably got their spell slots occupied. This guy, with the right UI, is a an easy right click... I have to say, getting this was the highlight of the game for me so far. Even though I hate being a "port-*****," the stats on this thing alone make it a sweet range item. Right now this is in my Primary slot but it will go to range, once I get the Temporal Wand, that is ;)
sorry, Translocate does in fact use portal fragments. Group TL and Teleport, however, do not need a reagent. the clicky TL effect is nice not only because its manaless but also for saving a spell gem slot.
Lol, ok been doing a lot of TL'ing and SOME of the TL's do indeed use Portal Fragments while on the other hand some do not. The level 50 TL (to bind) uses a Fragment and thus so does this clicky which I still will find useful if ever I come across it.
Translocate to the pyramid wizard spires costs a portal fragment. Translocates to the large wizzy spires or to a players bindspot do not cost a fragment.
Since there are no pyramids or spires in Dawnshroud or Twilight, they cost a portal fragment to TL. So does the TL to PoK.
I belive Samuel Jackson put it best with "ENGLISH MOTHER F*****, DO YOU SPEAK IT?" can any of you read? the whole idea being descussed here is if the TL from CLICKING THE FREAKN BOOK takes a fragment not the retarted spell, get it? and no the clickie from the book does not take a fragment. i cant think of a single clickie effect that uses a regent up. btw i hate u all.
There are a lot of click items that use regents. For example, Donal's Leggings of Mourning used a peridot to click Symbol of Naltron until the spell itself was changed not to require one.
Since translocate to bind doesn't use a fragment, it would be bizarre if the click did. And btw, buffs, we're not terribly fond of you either.
wizzies already being able to TL is precisely why it is wizard only. they dont want to give ports to a new class, just save wizzies a spell slot now and then.
Take off the elemental charms and mezzes though, they stay in the spell book 90% of the time. Now...mod rods, foci, best dshield, best PACK dshield, CotH, various summoned playthings *ALE* some of the more benifical GoD aa's..I can continue *grin*
