When held it actually looks exactly like the dagger from Mith Marr, or I think one from LDoN (basically a black spike, pretty big around but short)
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 24 2004 at 1:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Monks pull your raids? That sucks =P Naw seriously, I am lucky to be in a guild where any item with an instrument mod is pretty much auto bard. So major props to all the crazy dancing, singing goofballs like me!
Bard item...peroid

Go look up how many items are out there for a high end bard that have Brass...now go look up how many have Backstab mods. If you're guild is farming this guy their most likely farming Fennin as well and if their anything like us most of their rogues will have a chance at an Ifir. Bottom line is Bards are stuck with their epic(which blows, stat and ratio wise...proc is still good) and the only way to bag it is to replace all(except maybe wind) of the instrument mods, and this Talon is one of the very few Brass replacements. Conclusion: If you're guild has any brains, give this to a bard. Especially if their only missing Brass from their worn instrument collection.

Also, if you're a high end bard, you want mana...and lots of it. Pulling for a raid can be very mana consuming when you have to use a 900mana cost Fade every so often, and even with FT19(ft15+aa's) its still gonna take a few minutes to regen from each Fade. Pulling for exp groups on the other hand isn't quite as mana intensive but we still need loads of mana.
You are a moron...period.

Anyone who looks at an item that is listed for more than one class and says "This item is for xxxx class ONLY" is either joking or a complete moron. I cant describe how many of these worthless posts I have seen. They get an instant awful rating in my book, and I encourage others to do the same

If you read his post he didn't say it was for bards only, in fact he presented a very good case as to why it should go to a bard. Most rogues will already have a 12% backstab mod dagger (probably the one from Sol Ro) and this would not be so much of an upgrade to them as it is to a bard. Take a look at the other bard usable weapons from elementals...RSB, RoX, Ifir...first 2 are extremely rare, and Ifir might as well be Rogue only. If you want to post over on the thread for Ifir about someone being stupid for thinking it's rogue only, you are obviously not in a raiding guild, so you have no idea what you're talking about.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 31 2004 at 1:17 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Obviously the person who claims to not declare items only for a specific class has NFC WTF goes on. Its plain and simple about this, and yes in all honesty, a bard should get this WAY beyond a rog , rng , and war period.

Now most of all a ranger will be able to obtain better weapons ment more specicfic for a ranger (Ivory Hilted Cleaver comes to mind)

Someone didn't notice what drops Ivory Hilted Cleaver...

When I think of weapons suited for a ranger though, I think bows. Elemental crafted bows (featherwood/stonewood) are easily good enough to use until PoTime.

Honestly I don't see this particular weapon going to anyone other than bard or rogue due to the backstab mod and instrument modifier. Only way it would go to another class is if the guild was on DKP.

Btw, since one-class-only weapons would be forever doomed to rot, name one bard-only weapon pre-time that drops so often it would even come close to rotting?
Not just for Bards anymore

As a Bard I would love to get this, however I would be hard pressed to argue with a rogue who wanted also. The 12% backstab is pretty uber. The ranger could also present a pretty good argument because of the mana. The warrior though would have a hard time convincing me that he should get it over a bard. The combined Brass (+120), attack ration (pretty fast/great damage), and the mana would make me think I should get first. The HP would be nice also (since the typical bard will have less base hp than the other usuable classes), but all classes need HP.

For those thinking Bards don't need mana, you are only partially correct. We use it in some (though not many) of our upper level songs. Any extra bit helps when the lowest level of these songs costs us 800 mana a shot.

by the time your in poeb all of your rogues are going to have ifir, dont think many rogues would win this unless all your bards had it.

Not necessarily true, we've only done Fennin once (dropped ear and belt, so no Ifir) and have EarthB access.

Not necessarily, i am poeb flagged and do not have anything close to this. it is a toss up between who could use it more, but thats what is settled by points.

Id love to have this as a rog, bs, hps, resists. very nice. to the pulling bard point, well bard dont pull our raids, monks do so that point doesnt get very far here.

bards and necro's pull our raids, very effective, rarely do we use a monk to pull.

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 13 2003 at 9:24 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hehe I'm not sure what lvl your bard is or weither or not you play it alot but once you begin to work the strats they can master at higher lvls mana is NUMBER 1. yes number one lol....swarm kiting is the best xp AA wise so considering our charm uses mana its hard to swarm kite with a small mana pool. And considering that charm doesnt last that long and sometimes insta-pops (ARG!) you need some decent sized mana pool. and a good bard utilizes his ability to charm / Fading Memories especially in group situations. I am ALWAYS teh puller in my group and FM rocks when you get a bad pull from say a roamer as you begin pull or just bad mapping. It happens. The thing is FM uses 900 mana. And unless you have MC 3 and some FT items you will be waiting a whiel to get that mana back lol
more and more of these...

It seems that bard instruments that are also weapons and also have bonuses that make them attractive to other classes are getting more common in PoP (that is, those of us not raiding in these zones are starting to see them).

It's an interesting change. It does mean that these won't usualy rot, but it also means that bards will have a harder time laying claim to loot (it's rare that guilds will see much value in gearing up a class that can sing their songs regardless of their gear).

I'd love to hear from bards who have seen this drop. Did you get it? Did you care?
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 12 2003 at 9:48 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ROFL, I think Verant is just trying to start wars with items like these lol.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 12 2003 at 10:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) lol im guessing this would go to whoever has the most DKP so NOBODY CARES WHO SHOULD GET IT!! Yeah but seeing a bard and rogue bidding higher and higher on this would be funny though
