He is on a different faction, probably the same one as the other froggies in the zone. This is great because it means that even though he is standing in the middle of a ton of juggernauts all you have to do is cast like nullify magic etc. and pull him to you. The juggs don't care at all. This robe is not rare at all... he drops it practically every time and spells/pages/armor tradeskill items. =X He is gonna tash you so say goodbye to rest exp for a little while too.

First of all I'd like to thank the guy that sold this for 700pp yesterday =) And my lucky star for being the first to grab it lol Anyways what's the deal here:

Effect: Haste
1: Increase Attack Speed by 2% (L1) to 50% (L49)
Type: Worn
Level for Effect: 35 <----- ???
Haste: 36%

Is that correct? I haven't tried to compare attack speeds with and without the robe yet since I just got it and got a shaded dagger at the same time. This just seems all wacked, 50% (L49), then Haste: 36%....?? Any ideas?

The spell info is for the actual spell "haste" item haste is set, and it's now posted on the item, this robe is 36% haste at lvl 1, it's also 36% haste at lvl 70
RE: Haste at 35?
# Apr 26 2005 at 3:27 AM Rating: Decent
It is actually 0% haste at level 1, since level for effect is haste % - 1, ie level 35, after which it is, indeed 36% haste for any level thereafter.

I have seen alot of posts about the haste on this robe.. how pointless it is for a pure caster to have atk haste and what have you.. but I have both my mage and my wizard wearing this robe.. and I like the haste.. at lower lvls when you are forced to melee, it comes in handy. At higher lvls.. if you just WANT to melee.. it is good then as well.. and we all know sometimes we pure casters do get bored of just sitting and casting Smiley: wink2

That aside I think this robe is good for the price (On Torv it goes for about 2 to 2.5k) as even without the haste, if you compare it to other robes of the save value, the 10int is good.. and the plus 50 mana puts it over the top.

I will probubly change this robe to Robe of Tempest later on.. but at thier current lvls.. I believe this is the best robe for the money. Smiley: smile

There is a time for melee and a time to not melee. If your caster has temporance and is under level 28 being power leveled by a druid (or ranger/cleric pair), melee actually is fine. I have powerleveled many a caster to level 27 or 28 by duking it out. With that said, I don't know that haste is going to help, as all the damage done during powerleveling is from a damage shield. Your job as the character being powerleveled is to do a single point of damage to each mob before it dies to the damage shield. Haste... maybe a small arguement for it to improve your chances of getting a whack in, but I have never once used a haste item on a caster to accomplish this goal and it works fine.

I have a necro and I disagree with the folks who would argue for faster lifetaps. First, if I want to make either xp or cash, there are faster and easier ways than actually duking it out. Second, if the mob is hard you probably will rarely hit. I do lifetap mobs, only to transfer my life to my pet or the tank, but past level 50, many mobs hit for 300+ damage and it isn't always that wise to be standing in melee range. If you have to, you might, but if you are after efficiency, this isn't the way to go. Lifetap-tanking will kill one mob faster, but your total kills per hour will go way down. A tap over time with the occational direct tap, and life flowing to your pet works better because you can med 95% of the fight in those situations where you can't fear-kite or root-dot.

For those casters who want to do more damage than a melee class, I'd recomend considering -- don't dish out what you can't take. It isn't the caster's role to dish out more damage in a fight, not even for a wizzy. Each caster has a specific role to play in a raid or group. Nukers do their job at the end of the fight and though each hit looks impressive, it will not out-do the melee who are the bread and butter. That's not to say you don't provide an important service, it's just that your job is not to out-damage everybody else. Leave that to the monks, rangers, and rogues.

For those not familiar with riposte, I'll ask you, "do you think that lifetapping will heal you enough when every hit you make results in being swacked back for 300 damage?" Try fighting Vindi and let me know how it goes.

My opinion, this robe just isn't worth while. If you are in melee instead of medding, you are wasting the group's time because you won't have mana for the next fight. If you are meleeing a dragon, don't ask me for a rez or a corpse retrieval. I'll be kicking you out of my raid.

Not going to dispute what you've said. Sounds like you know the class pretty well. =)

Question though. Would it be feasible, when you have a good tank that holds agro, to pop your lifetap weapon proc on, start channeling HPs to the tank, then melee while hasted from behind mob to regain some HPs?

Just wondering if this would work? Or would it be unfeasible without a dex of 255, etc?
RE: Opinion Only
# Mar 15 2004 at 8:21 PM Rating: Decent
More opinion:

The most efficient "heal" we have is over time. The direct heals cost a fair amount of mana. If you are in a duo or some situation where there isn't a real healer, you will find that your tap overtime keeps up with your heal over time.

Personally, I think meditating is more important. If you are standing with Lich on, you'll probably actually loose more health faster than it's worth.

Just my opinion. Thanks for listening! =)

I LMAO at all these ppl that complain about the price of an item that is dropped.

The cost of any item that drops is free!!!

Thats right Free!!!

Get off your fat lazy chicken doodoo twinked ***** and go kill something to get what your after.

Spend 1/10th the time you spend cryin about prices in hunting and you will have nothin to cry about.

Prices in bazaar are high cause there are far too many ppl that would rather buy than hunt their gear. If your one of them suck it up and fork out your ebay pp.

price going lower
# Apr 29 2003 at 2:53 PM Rating: Decent
I've been playing for 3 years now, and the question i always ask is...
Who sets the prices for items? When new items come out and someone gets first loot of it, he/she makes up a price? lol. The prices have went way down on these though. You can get one for 2k now.
At any rate, my mage has had this robe for a long time, looks arent important to me when mages like myself have a tiny budget...but its helped me in the longrun. Ive never played a necro or wizard so I cannot comment on how beneficial it is for them. But for me, I love it.

RE: price going lower
# Aug 25 2003 at 6:25 PM Rating: Excellent
We all set the prices. If someone decides to sell something they loot, its up to them to set an asking price. The buyers set the price by either buying easily at a low price, or not buying at all when the price is too high. Basic economics really, we're just playing with monopoly money. :) A good way to compare prices is to compare stats. Most items are easily priced this way, but this robe is different because its got outstanding haste on it. Not good for most casters, but its fun to play around with. Tolapumj definately used the haste though. He's an enchanter who weilds a 28/30 2hb staff, kind of odd but pretty cool. :)

on 7th these gor for about 7-8k yuckie. everyone thinks the haste should make the robe rise in value...

Anywho i was commenting on the below ppl TOTTALLY misunderstand necromancers, i hear this $hit soooo much how they are solo or how their not since eq is a game whre everyone plays together... ok here is a big tip if everyone would actually roleplay and follow of the stories most of us WOULD NOT GROUP YES IKSARS WOULD BE HATED BY ALL SO NO IKKY MONKS IN GROUP SORRY! As well as paladins they would be the only ones dieing since they are supposed to be conducting the knightly code of defending the weak and poor. While enchanters would i dunno enchant our world with the enchanting powers =P. ---->

Point being ppl honestly believe way to much BS heres the key reasons to why most good necros will not group....

1) Necros are = to Druids in soloing...
My reason for this druids and necros are THE BEST solo'rs the only one and only reason i would say a necro over a druid is becuase we have that lucky ace up our sleave, we can FD, gate and sooo much more. We are very good at soloing... now the person stating we have th best dots and a reasonably strong pet hmm lets reword...

If you stack these dots...

Dooming Darkness

Type: Magic Based Single Target Damage Over Time
Max Duration: 1 minute 30 seconds
Casting Time: 4 seconds
Recast Time: 2.5 seconds
Actual Effects: Target: Damage Over Time (300)
Target: Slow Movement (60%)

Boil Blood

Max Duration: 2 minutes 6 seconds
Casting Time: 4 seconds
Recast Time: Instant
Actual Effects: Target: Fire Based Damage Over Time (504)

Vampiric Curse

Max Duration: 54 seconds
Casting Time: 4 seconds
Recast Time: 10 seconds
Actual Effects: Target: 200hp DoT
Self: Heal 200hp over 54 Seconds.

If you divide up the DMG you are dealing versus your pet you are looking at some SIEROUS AGGRO. i don't care if u are twinked or not when that fear breaks u are gonna be having a mob in your face if it gets resisted or not. now i know ppl who play necros like pansies all afraid to go kill something in DSP i have proof i solo'd a wolf those things are nasty resisted snare twice and fear once but after snare stuck and then fear (my pet leas then 2 bubs of hp in 9 hts lol) stuck and i DD'd it to hell with shock of poison dealing 160dmg fear broke once dooming darkness never wore off and i casted a successful fear and off into the burning hell the wolf went... my point is don't rely so heavy on DoT's yes they ar eVERY powerful and our best weapons but you need to make sure to use em effectivly and be smart on choice as well....

OK reason for why necros rock in group....

1) they can give their Mana to OOM Clerics VERY VERY BIG ++++ specially if tank is about to die and caster is short of mana...

2) We can give life soo if we are OOM and Tank needs hp and cleric is OOM well then i guess its up to us necros to save his life....

3) Most of all Necros can deal fat dmg... they are very effective in groups...

What else leads to necros not being in groups is most ppl see necros as useless group space they think we can't do $hit so they invite a snobby warrior who is wearing lvl 50+ dropped items that he bought in bazaar unlike us casters who have to kill gods for our gear... guess EQ proves once again that you save the best for last.. we get out good gear last so stand tall casters we are the reasons why tanks need those high lvl drops, cause if they didn't have it we would laugh and KS them into hell =P oh ya i fergot we can already do that.. oh well..

Yevun , still owning ppl in the Bazaar arena..

Interesting.
As a Bard, I always pity druids and wizards as I watch them solo. They kill sooo slowly, and quite often I even see them having to sit down in mid-kite to med. I honestly don't see why you say Necros are the same as druids in soloing, Necros are FAR better in every way.
I know you may be looking at the above statement and thinking that Bards are gimp soloers, but consider this: When I charm say, a Ravenous Nightstalker in Plane of Nightmare (where I get exp atm. Make around 1 level or 3 AA in a night, and around 6k pp), and sic him onto about 5 of his friends, all 5 of them are hitting him for about 250 a piece, so that probably equals around 700 damage per tick from EACH mob smacking on my pet. Then I just break charm at 10% with my clicky invis item and DOT kite the ex-pet down the rest of the way. 14k or so HP mob dead, 45 seconds, 60 mana spent, me at full life. Only time I have any downtime is after about 4-5 hours and I need a little break time, in which case I just sit down AFK for about 30 mins as I watch a little TV, and regening all the mana I used in the process. Bard meditate is capped at 1, but my FT items and AA's make me regen 5 mana per tick (Solstice earring and Mental Clarity 3 AA), which is almost perfect at the rate bards use mana, 60 per minute.
Only other classes I would ever even consider playing besides Bard is Necro, or Shaman. Both are great soloers and great in a group as well. What can be better? =)

Actually, i hate it when bards solo. I usually 2 box or 4 box because i have 4 accounts and computers. I can play my 54 chanter and two 54 druids at once with clarity 2, and two druids i can alternate druids and do a lot of damage quickly. Or, i can play a group of chanter, cleric, warrior, and druid. I like to quad kite sometimes, but it's actually less efficient for me. If the four mobs have a lot of HP, i can hand them off to my other druid and alternately med. I am pretty good at quad kiting and my mobs are always in control. Then, a bard comes in the zone and decides to solo. When that happens, i see mobs running all over at FULL SPEED like they have sow and fear. The bard seems to agro everything. While it looks caotic, i have never seen a bard die from it. If in trouble they just run away, i suppose. But, i don't need that kind of stress, bards please don't solo in my zone. Thanks.

Ha! Bards can be quite aggravating in some's opinions. For me, I charm a pet, pet kills the mobs, random bard trains 3 more enemies on me, I kill them off too!

Bards need to work on their agro skills, especially when the enemies hit for 350 each.

As a necromancer I melee all the time. Currently have my dex at 123. I wield a Woe, have Grim Aura (atk buff), Banshee Aura (11 point damage shield) and Vampric Embrace (44 point life tap weapon proc) up. I melee from the front while pet beats from the back. I pull with Vampric Curse and normally proc a couple of time in battle. So I heal myself. If things get hairy I back up and let the pet take some hits. This is great when I get adds because I can tank a mob while the pet tanks the other.

A necro who dosen't tank is not using the class to its fullest ability.

I am saving for this robe and should have enough pretty soon.

No, totally disagree with you...
MMORPG's (and any other games) are intended for ONE thing, and ONE thing only...for the individual who is playing to have FUN.
Solo or Group is secondary...if it ain't fun, it's work! (and how many people pay to work?)

I must say that I totally agree with you Saxxan. However, I also would like to add this in... When this game was designed, it was designed as what???? RPG (ROLE PLAYING GAME) ok with that said what is a necromancer???? EVIL ok... so what we have so far is Necromancer+Evil+Role Playing = Solo. Why else would Sony/Verant have made this class with the strongest DoT spells and a reasonably strong pet. So... If you are truly role playing your character (a necromancer) you hate everything and everyone except for your self. So, it only fitting that you (as a necro) solo. That is why most necros out there will and can solo their way to 60+. The game wasn't designed just for grouping... and yes a necro is and should be a welcome addition to any group. They are versatile and very powerful casters. As well they have the ability to summon corpses, Feign Death and still have a pet alive to deal damage. So, I hate to sound like I am flaming anyone, but in my simple equation earlier you can see the design concept... Children of Innorruk Rise and be strong.

I'm a 31 Magician thats currently wearing Tolapumj's Robe - I'd just like to say that it is well worth the effort on getting one. The mana and INT boost helps out alot with solo'n. Expecially when you need to heal and buff pet. Makes a big difference. And with this and my other items that a normal 30ish char SHOULD be able to afford I have INT up to 205.

RE: item info
# Oct 31 2002 at 12:05 PM Rating: Default
The helm is probably a Helot Skull Helm which drops off a Crypt Excavator in Charasis/Howling Stones Zone (East Wing). (Its primarily 55+, mostly undead. The zone's entrance is down in a temple, in the pit in the middle of OT. Theres a quest to get the key...and EVERYONE in your party needs their OWN key. And you will need a party...Bring a porter or you wont be able to leave unless you make it through to the end of the zone.)

I think the idea of a plate looking helm for a caster is cool...esp for dark elves. The color is reported to look anywhere from dark copper to light pinkish brown.

If you can get your guild to get their keys and go raid I think the look is worth the effort.

I really like this robe for 1 thing: It's INT. Better INT than a froggy robe, and has haste. However, Froggy robe does have it's up's from Tolapuji's Robe. So I need to know: Is a Froggy Robe for a Tolapuji's Robe a fair trade? THX!
Tola vs Froggy
# Nov 16 2002 at 6:07 PM Rating: Decent
I prefer a froggy to this. Normally there's the difference of 2 int and 10 mana. That's a small, but appreciable difference. The reason I like the bonecaster(on my wizard) is for the resists. 10 fire and magic resist are nice to have around.

The robes are basically equals in price, so far as my observations on them in the Bazaar(KB) have gone. Currently the froggy is 7k on the server and slipping down as more of them are introduced to the server. The Jumpy is very good if you need the extra mana, but the Bonecaster's resists are my bag.

I don't know about other classes, but for a wizard with a int. cap over 200 I would rather have a bonecaster robe over this. I mean, what good is haste doing me? My melee skills are all but non existent. Once your int goes over the softcap, resists are the thing to shoot for imho.

I cant imagine not helping the pet when all the dots are on the mob and it's feared, If it gets a little too much i back off and cast FD. It's too late get defence up at latter lvls when mobs realy kick ya *** and chew ya hitpoints with in a few hits.

I don't know about you other casters maybe its just the warrior or pally commin out in me but i like to have the a good defence and attack score even if it maxs out at 145 and 140 in the long run its more AC.

What a waste of Haste, and your would be an idiot to pay the outragous price for this robe if your a caster you don't tank so Haste does you no good and for the guy that thinks any caster class can out tank a tank is high on something. One you casters don't have the hps to tank and your just not made for tanking. So camp Skyshrine and get a real robe.

Ummm...even without the haste this thing is better than a Froglok Bonecasters Robe. I guess a druid shouldn't get a Velium Ruby Veil because of the 8 strength huh? LOL This robe rocks.

Haste can be handy on a caster, simply from the procs on weapons. Have an orb of tash currently, and all I have to do is wade in, mele for a couple of seconds till it procs, drop a mala on it and the mob has pretty much no resists left.

A weapon will proc regardless if you hit or not. So while we may not do hella damage with an attack, just by dropping a couple of procs on a mob we can make it drop a LOT faster.

The robe has 36 % haste, so you end up getting a lotta swings in within a very short time.

And in regard to a post below regarding the price on this, I wouldn't say that this is overpriced so much as the others are underpriced. heh.

Planning on using the jumpy till I can get a sly summoner robe from PoM or something equivlent. Even without the haste this still has excellent ac, int, and mana.

This here is THE caster twink item, you can't get anything better. Look at that ac, and haste as well. I don't have 8k as the price states up there but I'm perfectly willing to save up for it. BTW my chanter tanks better then a lot of melees, just takes awhile to get the correct armour together. Bonecaster robe would be better for the higher levels though. As far as I am concerned if you want to level fast you gotta have stuff for low level, and the high levels. Hell if I get to buy this, I got no reason to try and get in on the CoF even though I never will even get in on the roll. I hate those dragon raids, don't ask me why I even participate
