Fungi Robe
# Aug 13 2005 at 7:08 PM Rating: Default
Too bad too.. not that the robe was wearable by any classes who couldnt wear the fungi tunic. but SOE decided to nerf it anyway. Makes no sense to nerf something once it's gone live. isnt that what the test servers are for ? so what they doing there ? pretending so they get paid ? they apparently arent evaluating much else why all the nerfs n live items. Like try getting any of the old clicky illusions. Im not sure where they put the quest DN item that had Illusion: Erudite, but after way too many camps trying to get it.. i chalked it up to "so that's just another reason so many people left.. frustrated to tears". And after 6 years i still cant find anything but potions for the illusion i've been after. There is one quest left.. after days of questng you get a 1 charge.. if you're good with DE's... SOE standard. You think this drop rate is bad ? Try the new DoN stuff.. CDD"s for Master's gear are nerfed so bad it's worth campng stuff and then getting alt to loot it. but that's another ramp././

This robe is still nice, even after the many years it has been available. Used to mainly see monks in Wu's, epic robe or this, and it was probably almost as common as Wu's because of the regen at the time.

This is the common drop off of the myconid spore king in Sebilis.

In fact, it is so common that you'll be banging your head on the wall after having it drop 8 times in a row, as I am.

All of the robes which are currently dropping do NOT have the Fungal Regrowth effect on them any longer, though there are still a few pre-nerf robes that remain in circulation which do.

I know this USED to have "Fungal Regrowth" I think it was a clickable effect (which meant it did not have continuous regen - it was an effect which which caused regen and loss of some stats) - but when did they nerf this? I'm also at a loss as to why.... its not as if the Spore King got any easier, or the dirty rotten little #**^$@! increased his drop rate... =/ Anyone know??
RE: When was this nerfed?

you are mixing it up with the fungus covered scale tunic. https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=2036
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 06 2003 at 1:52 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) wrong, idiot. the robe used to have regen as well.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 05 2003 at 9:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This robe still has Fungal Regrowth...Just dropped it for the guild and there it was, effect in place.

Robe of 'Living Fungus'
# Aug 18 2002 at 11:39 AM Rating: Default
This is a good robe and all but according to the name 'Living Fungus' that means it should have Fungal Regrowth it just makes sence.

Verant once again screwed up and should fix it.
RE: Robe of 'Living Fungus'
# Dec 17 2002 at 2:57 AM Rating: Decent
It did have fungal regrowth when it first came out but it was too good, do some research before you go pointing the finger =P
RE: Robe of 'Living Fungus'
# Sep 22 2002 at 5:17 AM Rating: Default
Only makes sense to me for the robe to have fungal regrowth on it. I personally bought the robe for that reason -- only to find it doesn't do a thing in that area! If they are going to change the effects an item has, the best thing they could have done is change the name of the item as well, to let people know it no longer carries the regen effect.

the tunic has that effect on it.. not the robe.. should do more research before u go spending money on stuff. u can also inspect the item before clicking trade to insure that its the item u think it is.. you deserved to have lost money on that trade.

It used to have that affect....But they discontinued it.

before they nerfed it, some ppl's ROLF still have the effect!!! they could sell it for about 90k if they wanted to
pathetic
# Jul 01 2002 at 6:54 PM Rating: Default
ok, one thing, CCS has better stats and costs less, that is pathetic. the ccs's ac is better (12ac) and has strength addition and is 1.0weight. the ROLF's weight is good (0.2 weight) and has only 10ac. Now, its kinda pathetic that ROLF is 1k and CCS is 300pp when CCS is better and has a strength addition. just me 2cents

omg i had a CCS and couldnt wait to switch it for this. i would rather have 10ac 12sta 0.2weight over 12ac 4str 1.0weight. and i have fought a lot more fire based casters in a non-raid situation more than a cold based one i.e. druids wizards and mages use a lot of fire, the NPC's that is
RE: pathetic
# Jul 15 2002 at 2:16 AM Rating: Decent
Take into consideration the +12STA on ROLF...for Monks thats a big plus when swinging weapons and adds HP....3STR don't mean crap over the +12STA.

But thats my opinion.
RE: pathetic
# Sep 03 2004 at 7:49 AM Rating: Decent
Plus that str items are much more frequent than sta items, the loss of str can be easier overcome than the denial. I'm still tempted by this one despite having a black panther skin tunic
just because of the comparitive +2 sta.

OMFG! i know this has been said a lot but i do not uderstand why they took effect off of the robe. /e Lonaleb waits egerly as the alchemist gets the poison ready. /e Lonaleb pours poison into the drinks of the dumbasses who thought of doing this. but it is a nice robe but think about all the people paying 30k for this item a week b4 the patch.... Eww that had to of hurt

Robe of the LIVING fungus!!!
# Feb 18 2002 at 12:03 PM Rating: Default
My only beef with this Robe is the controversy surrounding it. "Will it have regen?" "Does it have regen?" I think alot of people are paying the extra 1k in hopes that it will one day have regen, and alot of folks out there think it still has regen. I know I did! Does anyone have any idea how we can find out if this baby will ever have regen again? From a reliable source! I NEED TO KNOW!!! I WANNA KNOW!!! ARRRRRRGGGGG! In the meantime this may seem a little silly..but..what's the deal with the collars on robes these days??? Last time I saw a collar like that, Elvis was rotting on the toilet.

No, it still does not have the regen effect re-instated... to tell you the truth, the only difference i've seen is it's a 0.2 wt now, i think it used to be a 2.5 wt. Anyways, this robe has not had regen for a while now, some people claim that it never did --they are wrong-- at one time quite a while back it did have regen, i had and still have one of these robes on my monk. Back to the update on it, anyways. Keep in mind i haven't played in several months, and am just getting back into the game, but i believe that it is just the weight of it was changed. sorry the change isn't what you, i, nor the rest of the EQ community wants to hear, but i guess those of us with the robe just have to wait and see what happens once VI pulls their heads from their butts... of course, with all the post-luclin bugs, it could be some time. Good Luck, and Stay Safe in your adventures.

I just purchased this robe off a merchant for a couple hundred pp. Tried to auction in ec for several ours at 1200pp and couldn't get an offer. Had one reply asking if it had regen, all I could say was no :(. Finally a monk came by and offered me 4 magical items, wepons, aromor etc. He was happy as could be, don't know if he realized there was no regen effect but it was still a good robe for a monk without the regen or any other class that can use it. I was able to sell the items he gave me and make extra money. We both came out on the good end. Still it is a shame that they nerfed this, couldn't hardly give it away in ec. My opinion, I don't think they will reinstate the regen effect, look how long we have been asking for it back, now people are selling them to merchants.
RE: decreased value
# Feb 07 2002 at 11:35 AM Rating: Default
look at the fungi tunic... its 21 ac +2 str +2 int -10 dex -10 agi... this has NO negative stats... so this with the regen is out of the question... Come on verant gonna make somthing easy on any class? well just made a new monk... gave her my fungi tunic and made 8 lv's in 1 day... most of the day i had to do with wu stick and kd's with no regen... this robe to me just looks nifty and has nice stats (.2 weight beats 2.2 on the fungi... tho i wouldnt trade lol)
RE: decreased value
# Mar 02 2002 at 2:09 PM Rating: Default
So what? it's pretty much monk specific. there are more uber things in the world (e.g. pally 48/40 2hb, CoF, etc.) and monks get ****** equip as is... there is nothing wrong with this having regen, it would be 1 of the VERY FEW advantages monks have over other melee classes armor wise.
RE: decreased value
# Mar 29 2002 at 2:55 PM Rating: Default
Monks get **** equipment? You are kidding right? Vulak drops, what, FOUR monk items? Many monks have higher AC than warriors. Monks have one of the easiest epics.

Quote:

Nah, I disagree, although SOME monks have higher AC that warrior, not many, if you took a warrior and a monk, who were both lvl 65, had all AA's (although im not sure if AAs would matter), were both equipped with PoT stuff, (or any stuff, as long as it was equally good for their lvls), I'm afraid the warrior would have better stuff.

Although, I DO realize you said "Many", and by many, that could mean 1 out of 100 or 1 out of 10 or 1 out of 2. But whatever you meant, it doesn't really matter, cause a well equiped warrior will have more AC than a well equiped monk.

Bring on the disagreement, im ready

Do you even realize you posted about 2 years after the original poster? Things have changed beyond belief in 2 years for EQ. Back when he posted higher raid areas of Lucin were still being reached by many upper guilds and lvl 65 was just a talked about thing. Velious armor was still a big deal and farmed by many people.

Plate equipment was kind of shafted in the past on AC. Iksar monks used to have a rather large AC amount as well (I remember them tanking in groups I was in years and years ago).

Here is one reason uber monks had such high AC back in the day:
http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=8941

These days of course a warrior has more AC, because the higher level drops are better and better balanced to fit the needs of a warrior to take damage.

Times have changed, look at how old posts are before responding with new ideas.

Can anyone please verify if a wood elf druid can wear this? When I saw it from someone in the trade window, it said only HIE in the elf line (which I think is High Elf) and did not say ELF . Please verify if you're a Wood Elf druid that can wear this or not.

Thanks

It is a Robe, and wood elves have no robe graphic, they cannot wear robes. (ok some smartass is going to mention the guardian robe which is all/all... but that item looks like pink cloth when worn [your chest turns pink])
