A very decent weapon still today...

I see that no one has posted on this item in a while, so I figure I'd share a few thoughts...

This weapon, while looked down upon by folks nowadays, is still a fine weapon. Rangers only have 4 options for 1-handed weapons in Plane of Time these days: the Edge of Eternity (uncommon to fairly rare);Timespinner (which is rare); the Timeweaver hammer (which is even more rare!), and the Cudgel. The Dagger of Distraction has not dropped for my guild at all since the patch that made Time into a fully instanced zone -- it is not just a rare drop, it apparently no longer drops, period. That leaves the Cudgel as the weapon most characters will be likely to earn with relatively few DKPs. Upon further examination we find the following - good overall stats: very nearly a 1 ratio, 15 wis/int plus 140 mana: good for rangers, beasties and bards, 20 magic resist (always a plus, in any situation), 15 sta and 150 HPs, and the ever-popular Lifetap effect. This weapon is better than any weapon you build using LDoN points, and arguably better than any weapon you can purchase using DoN points as well. Add a second Lifetap augment and watch the healing spam fly!

So, what we have is a weapon good for all dual-wield classes that can use it, is relatively common and usually not bid upon these days by folks in Time-capable guilds. Yes, there are better weapons out there, even in Time, but this is not outclassed by those weapons a great deal, and would be an excellent interim weapon until you can afford a superior weapon (from GoD, epic 1.5, etc). Heck, even the graphic is nice looking. So, if you need an upgrade and are able to get this weapon, don't be afraid to give it a try. Highly recommended.

EDIT: corrected a couple of things that I noticed I had put in by mistake. Posting on message boards without getting sleep beforehand -- just say no!

Has anyone noticed that most 1-H B weapons are not usable for shadowknights? That really sucks seeing as my main is an SK and uses 1-H B.

After reading through the list of one-handed blunt weapons that my Beastlord could possibly obtain I observed one disturbing trend that upset me greatly:- All of the reasonably damaging and useful weapons appear to drop in high level zones such as the Tier 3 Planes and as such require me to actually group with other people, spend time aquiring flags and even risk myself in battle with dangerous monsters to obtain!

I feel this is a great and deliberate offense to me and reflects SoE's obvious global conspiracy against us casual players, whom because we work and spend time with our families and friends do not have as much time to play the game as some of the more "unique" members of our worldwide community.

Thus, to even the score and make the game more enjoyable for the "less present" player I *demand* that such weapons be dropped during such major encounters as the "orc pawn" outside Freeport or possibly even "Fippy Darkpaw" near Qeynos and the number of these creatures be increased dramatically to reduce all this horrid camping that goes on (which is yet another slap in the face of we casual players).

Failure to comply with my demands within 2 weeks will result in my organisation spamming and flaming the class message boards using such unique aliases as "IFartFlames the Magician" or "Dood the Mnk". Messages posted will include such fascinating articles as "Class Balance sucks!! I want a 90 foot tall pet that hits for 400!!", "Obviously a Mnk Item -- Part XXXXXIIV", "Nerf Beastlords!!, they deal more than 1 point of damage per round!!".

Thank you for your time and I look forward to the next upcoming patch message where I am sure I will see the section "-- Beastlord PoP weapons added to the drop table of an Orc Pawn", this will be an enjoyable and rewarding change for casual players everywhere. Thank you.

Of course one would have to ask why a person would even play everquest if that person wants to be decked in the best gear the first time they log on.

Why would anybody do a quest for an item when you can go kill a lvl 1 orc pawn and get the best item? What would be the point in getting to lvl 65 to go kill the most powerfull dragon in the game if you can go kill a lvl 1 orc pawn and get the best loot? Why would anybody want to play a game where you start off with the best gear and never change or upgrade your stuff and where everybody has the same best gear that dropped off the same lvl 1 orc pawn?

See the way everquest works is they didnt put an ending to it so you can keep on playing and playing, if they put the most powerfull stuff dropping off orc pawns there'd be no point in playing and EQ would have never been a game that became so popular which would mean a lot of stuff would have never happened (like people whinning on the internet that you actually have to PLAY the game and invest time in it to get cool stuff).

AC: AC: 15 hua?
Like all of the PoTime items have this.
On top of that, many 1hs items are monk usable.
Sony needs to get on the ball or something.

Not sure its origins, but the AC:AC: thing appears to be showing up on a lot of higher-tier items lately, not just PoTime drops. At least that I know of, Elemental bows are being affected by this display bug. As far as anyone's been able to tell, that's all it is - a bug with the display. I suspect the re-structuring of item display code (to make room for the PoTime special effects like Strikethrough) may have introduced it, and that we'll see it fixed soon enough.

And, while there is (at least) one monk-usable 1hs (Edge of Eternity, which I also expect to see changed with patch), I'll restate the obvious and note that *this* weapon is 1hb.
