spell shield & canni

This may be a bug, but according to a shaman from Afterlife, Spellshield from items reduces damage a shaman takes from Cannibalize. For those who dont know Cannibalize converts hitpoints to mana. 148 hitpoints to 75 mana to be precise. So theoretically, if you somehow managed to fill 6 slots with +25 spellshield modifiers (and yes they DO stack), a shaman could chain cast cannibalize IV for a free 75 mana each cast.

If this is correct and could be done whether it's a little or alot of spell shield protection from the hp portion of mcanni, wouldn't the translated amount that becomes mana be reduced in the same percentage of canni avoided via spell shield?

I'm a lvl 70 shaman on Xev the theory might be there, but I would never use canni 4 to get a free 75 mana it's just not practical, I very very rarely run out of mana on a raid AA canni and pained memory are all the canni I need to keep me topped up...

what proof do you have that they stack, no other mod in the game does i highly doubt that this effect does but could be wrong. pls show me something.

if its true (and i have doubts) i wouldnt count on it lasting for very long.

Actually, if it is true, i doubt it would be nerfed. 1) Obtaining 6-25s would be a task in itself. 2) The loss of hps from canni is really neglegdable anyway. The only thing that slows my canni is the cast/recast time of it. Recovering the lost hit points is never a concerning with my high regen and Queis. So in essence, canni is a pure gain of 75 mana as far as i am concerned anyway with the only price being time spent canning that i could be casting something else.

spell shield will take 25% of dmg from all detremental spells just like the absorb line so whatever % is on the shield that much dmg should be absorbed. thus making anyone with this shield a god not to mention owner of a really nice shield and the fact that it is all will cause so many fight i love it if only i could have one. one of those things you would ninja just so u could look at it and say my precious and stuff

Not absorbs 25% of damage of a nuke, it shaves 25 points of damage off of any nuke cast upon the owner. I.e. 1100 point nuke would hit you for 1075.

Good reply... couldn't have people running around thinking that this shield blocked 25% of all spell damage. Now if you could only get every item you wear... i.e. earrings, rings, bracers, boots etc. etc. to have Spell Shield +25 or more... now that would be something. Maybe there will be some Spell Shield +100 items... or maybe I can just keep dreaming.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 26 2003 at 11:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) this is one hell of a shield, if it could only go on your back. I still want it either way.

It will look like it does in inventory. SoE has un-lazy-fied and all of the new items look the same in inventory and equipped.

Spell Shield: +25%

Any idea what this means? Is it a modifier on DD spells or something?

I'm gonna hazzard a guess that this means that you have a greater chance of resisting detrimental spells cast on you while weilding this.

I understand it actually subtracts your total amount of Spell Shield points from the total damage of any direct damage spell that hits you.

Its actually a dmg reducer..lets say you are nuked for 250 DD, it only goes for 225, which can be a life saver.
