Dude, the AC cap of 1250 was lifted AGES ago.

I just wanted to get this out here... the softcap still exists for monks. An incredibly detailed parse was done by Brodda, showing that from ~AC1100 to ~AC1300 there were still significant gains, while from ~AC1300 to 1600 to 1800 yielded almost nothing. These parses were done against Halls of Honor (tier 3 PoP) mobs, so this is still in effect, for monks. For plate classes, the AC changes indeed showed that there was no more softcap.

It only exists for monks (and possibly other leather classes, he is a monk... tested more extensively on warrior and monk toons). Warriors were still getting gains over 2000 AC.
question

Yeah ac is valuable, but there is an effective ac cap in eq. saw a 85ac shield for warrior the other day. it rotted on the raid because after like 1250ac more ac MEANS NOTHING. you don't take less dmg, you don't get hit less. Each ac class has its own effective ac cap. plate is highest, then chain, then leather then cloth.

nice gloves, would wear em in a heartbeat.

Effect sounds very cool too

Good hunting all
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 22 2004 at 2:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It most likely rotted, cause not many warriros are going to use this instead of two handed weapon.

1250 softcap AC is 3 expansions ago. With PoP, it's been parsed to be around 1900 AC before diminishing returns. A plate class will most likely opt for due to the higher AC:

Padded tigerskin gloves have stats more suited for the leather wearers (monk / bst / druid).

As far as the effect, a mob will dodge / parry / riposte / block (not many monk mobs in game) 15-20% of the time of all incoming hits from the side & front. A 10% chance of hitting through one of the dodge/parry/riposte isn't much but with the sheer number of swings, the added chances of landing a hit through what would've been dodge/parry/riposted is added dps. 1-2 dps here and there adds up when you have several melee effects such as combat effects, accuracy, strikethrough, etc.

Apologies in advance, however, you've got the wrong idea. AC after 1250 means nothing? So why do my guild's main tanks who break 2k AC on a regular basis get hit less and for less than the secondary tanks--all warriors mind you--do who have 1600 - 1800 AC? Why do I get harassed for Call of the Rathe all the time? Because AC is meaningless after 1250? LOL. Sorry, that statement of yours is completely wrong, do a little more research and go chat with your server's "uber tanks". Even for us squishy chain wearers, or the cloth casters, AC is very important, on top of damage avoidance AA skills. Getting whacked 2 times for 3k and getting whacked 2 times for 2k max is the difference between life and death for many folks.

As for the gloves, they're a minor upgrade to Elemental armor, however, notice the effect of "Strikethrough". Have a paladin friend in my guild who got an item with strikethrough, and now he gets spammed with "You strike through your opponent's defenses", or something similar to that message. So while not an amazing upgrade, the effect should prove itself useful if it indeed makes mobs easier to hit. I'll let you know if it works on archery.

hmmm well these are as good as it gets for a Beastlord's gloves, none better.

So since they suke for everyone else then best to just award them to your guilds Beastlords =p
question

granted its an uber item and no i will never see it, but is there a class that wouldnt use this ?(barring those that cant equip obviously)
RE: question
# May 23 2003 at 8:49 PM Rating: Good
actually, warriors wouldn't use them at least. AC is too valuable, and Raex's gauntlets )that a warrior is GUARANTEED to have before these are accessible) are double the AC. SKs and Paladins are pretty much in the same boat, their Elemental armors are much higher AC and they tank quite often.

At a guess I would say that Strikethru reduces the damage mitigation of your targets armor. But it could be something completely different like it lowers the effective AC of your target.

It gives you a chance to hit even when you're dodged, blocked or riposted...in this case, 5%.

10% actually but absolutely correct otherwise, grants the chance to hit even if your swing is dodged, riposted, blocked, or Parried
