If you are in your 50s, it is fairly easy to solo the mobs in the first living room in the tunnels. Here are the steps I have used to have a successful sweep of that area.

1. Invis up and run into the living room. Nothing can see through invis. Follow the wall to the right around until you are an equal distance between the servant of fate and the second fireplace in the back of the cave. This is roughly pos850, neg490. May sure you HUG THE WALL. You can then set up any pets and buff. Just don't move from the wall.

2. When you are ready, pull the archon that will be to 10 o'clock position if you were sitting with your back to the wall. Just be careful to pull when the wandering mobs (there are 2) have stopped at the back of the cave or have left the cave completely.

3. Next, pull the wanderers to you one at a time. They have about a 20 minute respawn time. If you don't want to kill them, then let them leave the cave before you pull. Make sure you pull all your mobs to the wall. It can get very messy if you aggro more than one.

4. Root, root, root, and root. There is a horrible pathing problem in the caves and the mobs will, when they walk away at under 25% health, disappear into the wall and you can't target them. And when they heal up they will come back for you. So, root them. If one gets away, let him come back (a perfect opportunity to med up if you are a caster).

5. Make sure you and your pet are slamming any of the mobs in robes. They are casters and the archons are clerics. They will Complete Heal on you unless you bash them enough to interrupt the spell. I have found that if you have any DoTs, fire them early on and keep smacking the mob around.

6. Most of the DD spells the casters throw at you are magic or ice based. Keep those resists up. You will save yourself a lot of damage if you simply keep your MR and CR high through a caster or potions. It is worth every plat.

7. All servants of hate are melee types. They are fast and they hit hard. If you can do anything to minimize the damage (pets, slows, etc.) use them. The claws on the luggards are quite sharp. Owwie.

8. The luggard flesh drops about once every 10 kills or so, but I have only charted it three times, so it may vary. It will drop off any of the mobs in the caves. The good thing is that many of the mobs also drop gems. So far, I have looted a blue diamond, 2 diamonds, 3 opal bracelets, 1 sapphire and 1 peridot. The other drops are claws and organs and runes/words. In a two hour session in the caves, I can easily bring back 400pp.

9. Always make certain you med up when tackling the casters. I thought I would be bold and pulled a caster with 50% mana. The little @*#&$%& CH'd himself four times and I barely had enough mana to get out with a gate. Don't risk it.

10. Hands down, the caves have some of the best music in the game. :o)

Happy hunting!
Best music?

Very informative post, but I must however disagree with item 10.

Hands down the best music in the game is planar.
I really like the Plane of Torment it is spooky when charm soloing at midnight with my Enchanter.
Assassin also

A level 51 Leggald Assassin can show up at the second fireplace in the same first room. He is not the normal spawn, but he is tough, agro's quick, and has a nasty habbit of walking away when low on life and walking INTO the wall of the cave and being unreachable. So ROOT him when he starts to walk. He hits harder that the other bad boys in this room.

Also note. If you keep going up the tunnels you WILL find tougher mobs. There are REDS (at 51) way down in the last room of the tunnels.

Last night we camped the first room down to the right in the luggald caves in dulak. The one with the two fires. There are 3 spawns around one fire, 2 around the other fire, and 2 by the door, as well as 2 wanderers that roam through the center of the room. Keeping all of those spawns cleared, we got 2 luggald flesh in about 2 hours.

This room had stuff that was mostly dk blue to a 53, and a few light blues. Everything was dark blue to a 49.

Oh and 53 chanter and 49 druid had little trouble keeping the room cleared. The only exciting part was when a nightmare initiate feared the druid.... keep resist magic up!

"Luggald Flesh" (from the luggald tunnels in Dulak) and "Fecund Flesh" (from Nadox) are both used as part of two different quests resulting in some VERY nice mid-level items.

Good Race Quest:-
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2393

Evil Race Quest:-
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=2394

The items you gain from the quests vary depending on whether you do the good or evil one and also what class you are.
