Me and my girlfriend debated over this very thing. I feel that i've more Earnt an item if i've saved up the cash and bought it, rather than it dropping in a group or raid. She feels the opposite. For her she felt that it was almost cheating to buy an item since there's no challenge in it. For me though I feel having the money to buy it represents a personal achievement, whereas in a group or raid you play a respectively small or minor part in getting it.

So I guess it really comes down to personal opinion. Either way though, I play a no drop server because when I started I randomly clicked to decide when i first started playing :), and my girl friend chose hers because it had the fewest people in it.
Bought on FV

Just want you guys to know, I saved up (from selling Soulfire and Fabled items) and bought one of these for 200k on FV server. And that was working for it , just in a different way.

Talk about Common...
# Apr 02 2005 at 4:47 PM Rating: Default
Talk about common, this is like on almost every Hybrid (Sk or Pally) I see who doesn't have something else like their Epic or whatever, if they're time.

Would be even better if this was a range slot item heh, great though either way, nice dmg, good stats.

according to logs,
as a paladin with 2h skills trained, this weapon does about 75DPS for me. *Note that this is with Paladin cleansing skills not included. With undead cleanses included, it does about 95-100DPS for me.
RE: DPS

I really hope that something is wrong with your parser...or you're not sham/ench hasted or something because as a paladin that's NOT Sol Ro flagged or better I've parsed a constant 80-90 dps with and have been known to hit 120 dps. According to the ratios I would max out at around 154 dps with this weap, now this doesn't include my attack rating increasing which would probably add around 10-15 dps - making this max out at 164-169 dps. But, that is the max, normally it would do about 128-133. Again, you could have a bad parser, or you could have crap haste (or I could have had a DS in factored into my parses) but this I know this thing can average higher [link=null][/link]75dps.

I don't know what yall are talking about parsers and all but I was in a group with someone who had one and they were popping off 500-900 doubled. They were Salik's hasted and you can only imagine how that helped. This weapon is awesome for DPS.

DPS = Damage per Second... an average of the damage you do in one second, over an extended period of time.

One or two hits in a split second does not equal DPS... usually they're referring to sustained DPS, which would be more along the lines of: How much damage was done in 10 minutes divided by the 600 seconds it took to do that damage.

Also, adding haste/atk buffs will skew your DPS results, so DPS for a weapon is usually kept to DPS while unbuffed.

Vanazir aggro
# Feb 04 2004 at 5:39 AM Rating: Excellent
Yes, it does drop alot of aggro on you, in a raid unless your tanks are ungodly aggro magnets you will have to manage your own aggro with this or you will easily find yourself turning a mob and splatting or at least splatting someone else (just pray it's a gnome).

One of our rangers got one a little while back as well and it took them a few raid encounters to learn to back off occasionally without splatting.

I aug'd mine with the poison based 150dd RUJ aug for extra DPS and with max'd 2H knights AA's I have to FD regularly to avoid over-aggro'ing raid mobs even after "Voicing" the MT.

In XP or adventure groups it's a relief to be able to turn around and completely open-up on a mob fully buffed with Vanazir.

Monks and Beastlords have their own Plane of Time 2hander... https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=22162 . I'd hold out for staff instead of this unless it was gonna rot. Not only due to the ratio being worse, but the proc would get ya killed quick heh.

Hmmm so Monks should hold out for a weap because that the proc gives agro, question, have U looked at the proc on the weap U linked ?? I belive that gives even more agro
RE: see last post
# Dec 21 2003 at 3:11 AM Rating: Decent
anymonk that is in time and able to get any of em would go for dps, and doesnt really matter to much about the proc, by the time you are in PoTime getting these items you will have already learned to manage your aggro, using FD and cycled attacks

Well lemme see,

Monks... several of my guild's monks have this and they love it. Good dps, good stats, what's not to love? By the time you're guild is in a position to worry about getting these things your gear will be (as a whole) such that the Warriors in your guild wont really have to worry about you pulling agro off them. I have one of these and I use it when I'm not tanking. 2 of my guilds Paly's have this and they swap it in and out for situaltional off tanking etc or to add to dps. A couple other warriors in my guild also have this weapon and we love it. I think we even have an SK with one. As for the Proc being an agro producer it really isn't. Not when you compare it to the hate building procs from BoW, DBoW, etc, and then adding hate building augments to them I wouldn't worry about pulling agro.

Basically this is an outstanding 2hander for offtanking, or not pulling agro off the MT. It's damage output is high enough that warriors can stay near the top of the hate list so in the event the MT dies it's a simple matter to swap to your BoW or what ever your tanking combo is and go for it. Monks, Paly's, hell any class that can use it and wants to will probably find it to be a fine weapon. If you need a high dps weapon with great stats that won't have you pulling agro off the MT? This is your baby, or at least a fine option.

Not to take anything away from FoH, but I haven't seen very many of them active lately. In the year+ I've been on Veeshan, I think I've seen less than 5 of them.

I'm not quite sure who would be considered Veeshan's "uber-guild", though I suppose Cestus Dei would be up there. My own guild is far from "uber", because we're not interested in the sort of time-sink requirements & "hard-core-ness" required to reach that lofty status.

#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 23 2003 at 5:43 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dead monk in xp and raid situations, but for a small group loot farmin this is a nice weapon for a monk. Plus, bo of transcendance ain't on live servers so it's not worth comparing.
#xilus, Posted: Sep 17 2003 at 8:43 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Probably why I have never seen a monk with it :) Always either a sk/pala/war or yes, beastlord. I have yet to see a monk... hmm, even though I know there is atleast 1 out there with one.

Im considering biding on the next one of these that drops, but im concerned with the proc, mainly the agro. Im a beastlord, and as such I like dont want agro. I know Flamelick cuases insane agro and this has way more ac debuff, but im preaty sure the spell info on alla's doenst show agro reduction.
Even if its insane agro I might bid on this thing ^_^ its just insane, and it has my favorite weapon graphic.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 14 2003 at 6:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) don't worry about it =), once your MT has aggro, this won't pull it from them.
taunt issue
# Jun 28 2003 at 11:37 AM Rating: Default
The proc is a DD/AC debuff right? Wouldn't that be insane agro? As as 65 monk I tend to get agro alot using Caen's. I remember a test with Flame lick taking several taunt rounds for a 65 warrior to get agro, and that's only a 3ac debuff. I think I'd pass on this for the sake of living through a raid.

Bo Staff of Transcendence Dmg 52, Dly 28. +20 AC +30 Str +30 Sta +30 Dex +30 vsMg +30 vsCold +30 vsDis +275 HP +275 Mana

This thing just has SO much hype( it is a GODLY item still ) because it was the first 2hander most people saw out of PoTime. Soon there will be much nicer things coming out of the zone. Although atm I think it is the highest HP item for war/pal/sk/rng.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 27 2003 at 8:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) what are you talking about? how is this a hype compared to staff of transcendence? the ratio difference is small but this weapon has 60 damage. you don't usually get such a high damage weapon with good ratio. plus if you look at the proc...it's an insane agro proc(27ac debuff). does it hint to you that this is meant for a tank to use? and on a tank, what do you want for a weapon? as high damage as possible...why??......riposte

no it isn`t Bo staff of transcedence is .... and much better DMG/DLY ratio ... 55/28 245hp 245 mana and 150DD proc with extra stats .. much better than Vanazir will ever be
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 14 2003 at 11:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Bo staff isn't real on any live server..will prolly never be, please stop comparing the two.

RE: hit point count
# Jun 13 2003 at 8:06 PM Rating: Decent
Yup this is, but in a sense it isn't. Notice how it uses 2 hands? Now to equal that you would need two 1h 115+ hp weapons. Right now there are plenty of them above that. So If you wanna call it the highest hp item in the game you can but you do miss out since it takes two slots up.

hehe 2 hand blunt, the blunt is so big you need to hold it with 2 hands.
