good bp

Though Umbra drops every fear raid... this would be the main item to seek. The bracers a fairly nice too.

I would HIGHY recommend Fear to all shadowknights 46 to 54. The Earler the better.

Umbra is damn good armor for those lvls...

Seek out your servers Public form or Raiding guilds and ask to go with them. Do this over and over until you get on one. Follow the raid rules with out question. Be friendly and kind. Make sure to ask the "Raid leader" when the next is to get on.

Expect to die 1 to 7 times, until you get use to how to live though raids. Mostly... 90 to 96 clerics are there.

Good luck my fellow knights. Remember lvls 49 to 54 sucks nut for sk... but after that... it just gets better and better.

Stick with it =)

It is annoying that the pally BP from fear has 9 wis on it. 9 int on our BP would be nice, although STR STA and DEX are probably more important to an SK. Let's fae it: no matter how much INT a Shadowknight has, he will go oom quickly in a faster pulling group. Especially as the puller...darkness proc on Blood Ember saves me a lot of mana pulling, but since solo exp is still so crucial, KEI is more important than int stats.

So I basically curbed my own ******** just now. But being the only hybrid that uses INT can be frustrating when all of the Wizards, Mages, Chanters, and Necros are bidding on the same items as you are...the 13int no drop hybrid neck in Naggy lair is all we get...at least for a while...

bards are technically an intelligence-using hybrid class, seeing as how when I put on a +5 intelligence item, my total mana drops about 2%. And no, it doesn't have +mana, just intelligence

Well with the influx of new items from Velious, Luclin, and Ykesha, there has been a definite improvement in items we can use to boost INT without sacrificing our other important stats.

This seems like a good bp but it has the same ac as my current bp, small acrylia bp. But the added stats are nice. I haven't seen what the other Umbral pieces look like though. I can't wait till I can start raiding the planes, I'm only lvl 32 though.
Rare or Common

Just wanted to know how rare this is.

I'm a 52 SK in basically full umbral, with a BE helm. What I find depressing is that I look almost exactly like I did at level 35 in full darkforge. Mid level characters who aren't familiar with planar armor think I'm lame. Okay, the tints are SLIGHTLY different... but geeze, give us a break? Aren't we supposed to look cooler after having visited the planes? :) Almost every other class gets some better looking armor, or at least somewhat distinctive...

Bah. In any event, I do love my Umbral... =) It should hold me over till I get the thurgadin or PoG armor, which will hold me over till I get the skyshrine armor.

Bah, look at Indicolite, warrior Hate armor...

It can easily be mistaken for bronze.

I am also in full Umbral with the exception of blood ember bracers. I dont think it could be any more bad *** than the charcoal black.

True, but there are only so many ways to make near-black armor distinctive. Not that I wouldn't mind wearing the cool blue tinted armor I saw once on a iksar shaman, but some people would never give up their shadowy wardrobe. Remember blackened-iron armor?

What I want to know is, on what server are newbie characters 35th level? Let me know, because I want to start a character there...

But seriously, you have charcoal black/grey plate armor -- it doesn't get any cooler looking than that, so I'm not sure what you were expecting. And geez, how insecure do you have to be to care what some dweeb thinks when they probably don't even know the difference between dyed fine plate and Darkforge to begin with?

Don't worry so much about what other people think, guy. Work on your self-image. Geez.
Progression
# Apr 24 2001 at 1:53 AM Rating: Decent
The Kunark armour has the effects but I have noticed that it lacks stat and save increases. All the armours are a progression based on difficulty to get. I play a 49th SK and need 3 more pieces of Umbral. I have not even considered trying to get the Kunark stuff yet as it is difficult to get but maybe later ;)
What I think on the order is this.
Darkforge
Umbral
Bloodforge 50 plus
Dwarf Velious 50 plus
Novicant 50 plus
Giant Velious 50 plus
Dratgon Velious 50 plus
Darkforge and Umbral are quite easy to get compared to the others but one day I would like to have owned them all and full suits at that.

You know, Verant should make right-click effects on Umbral just like on Blood Ember. With Blood Ember, a SK may Fear Kite mana free...sure, it will take longer, but MANA FREE. No interruptions, no OOM, no medding. Mana FREE.

Now, perhaps the other planes will have upgrades to Umbral...but for now, I really dont like it to much. DONT GET ME WRONG, the Physical STATS are the BOMB! I would give my left nut for a suit of this (in-game, that is)!

Just my 2cp.

Hehe, I'd like to see the sk that fear kites with BE. See, it's one thing to have the effects of fearkiting on your armor, it's another to be able to use them. Most pieces have what can only be called a silly casting time. I have the gauntlets for one and they're a good pull spell when fearkiting. Fear still has to be cast with a spell. This of course depends on how much of a beating you can take while your boots are casting and still consider this an effective arrangement. So, if you stand at maximum cast range and land snare, be ready to take a beating and possible interrupts on the fear part and have to lifetap yourself up which means you are using mana.

I bought the BE boots and gloves just to try Snare/Fear combo with the clickable casting - couple problems with it.

1) The effects are lower level then the spells I can cast.
2) The effects have a much longer casting time.
3) The effects don't last as long.
4) The effects are resisted more then my spells.

I found it wasn't worth the trouble. If my mob drops snare, it's long out of range before the snare effect will have recast. I still use them - they are good for pulling, and fearing/snaring during group fights. They *do* however work well against slower mobs like wurms.
