Killed Bert so many times I lost count, seen this thing drop 1 time. Kinda silly rarity considering the number of other pet augments out there.
Can't wait

My STA and WIS been 305 for long time and I am still going to Love this item. No one that I know that has this item looks at anything other than HP/Mana when they loot it, all other stats on phase5 time peeps are max or close enough, the stats are irrelevent to most ( i agree it makes no sense though). Couple guildies recently got it, a necro and a beast, awsome item. The clickie pet shrink is nice on raids. Dont have to mem that extra spell everytime i suspend minion or if i somehow let him die. Currently i carry wild lords sandles around for that purpose.
Patch

Today's patch message mentioned upgrading all pet focus effects, so expect the numbers cited below to change.
RE: Patch
# Apr 04 2004 at 3:21 PM Rating: Default
Not at all

Patch message changed 2 things mainly:
1- Pet mitigation has been improved overall, and the mitigation improvements from focuses has also been highered
2- Focuses scaling has been slightly altered varying on the difficulty to get the focus, and the gains from focuses have been checked to be in line with the scaling.
Biggest grief was about LDoN focus giving 3-4% hps/tick regeneration to pets while Gaunts of Dark Summoning (VT focus) didn't give any noticeable regeneration. That has been fixed and GoDS now give 5% flat hp regen per tick to pets when they are not agroed

wow...20 wis for the bst but no int for the nec or mag... thats kinda ******. the stats rock...this item rocks but come on...if your gonna add wis for the bst the others should have some int... please don't get me wrong... i would kill for this item... the mana alone makes this item truly awesome... and i definately wouldn't pass this up.... now for a question if anyone can answer, is the focus effect a pet focus?

Also a bst usually will have focused their gear more on melee stats and not have bothered tryin to reach wis cap, so for most bst, even at this lvl, the stat is not wasted as it would be on either of the pure casters.

At the lvl one can attain this hopefully yur int will be maxed or very close, if not the focus effect and mana stat make up for it nicely.

For a necromancer or a mage, yes...very hopefully you have maxed int by the time you can get into Time.

For a beastie though, usually they tend to work on dexterity, stamina, and strength before wisdom, making this an awesome item for BLs. Considering alot of their attack power is made possible due to their pets as well, the focus effect can greatly increase their DPS. So hopefully this will head towards the Beastlords before mages, and lastly to the necros, but it's all about DKP anyhow.

The effect is broken on beastlord pets - and pet foci doesn't mean that much for pet DPS, you might get 5-8 DPS more from a BST pet with this focus compared to without.

This item should go to all mages doing pet cannibalization first - that's its great use. And since mages have the strongest pets, adding a relative boost to these also means the most absolute DPS, naturally, making an even stronger case for giving it to mages.

Just ignore silly stats like int/wis/bla/etc when looking at raiding gear.. They don't matter the slightest. HP/mana/effects is what does, and this is a pet focus.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 17 2004 at 4:49 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is not broken for Beasts. When calling your warder, it increases their Hp by 400 (roughly) increases their hp regen to 250hp per tic and the pet quads for 89. With Summoners boon, pet has 200 less hp, regens 200hp per tick, and only quads for 79. Basic pet quads for 77. The only nice thing the Summoners boon does is allow the pet to regen 100hp per tic more then it used too. Very noticable differece then before.

I got his item a couple days ago and it makes a Beastlord pet hit for up to 86, not 89. 86 is still a lot better than an unfocused pet, but I thought I would clarify.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 17 2004 at 5:01 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Just to add. With this effect, pet quads for 89. If for example. Your pet hit every hit for 89 for 60 seconds every second total dmg output would be 89x60x4 = 21360 this effect

I dont agree it should go to mages. Mages already get pet focus items by the droves. If you go to the biggest effect for the money give it to a necro who essentially only has like 3 focus items in the whole game. Want to help up the power from the necro pets? Then give this to them to help. Most bang for the buck.

Not sure where you get this information from. If you really look closely at it, mages get 5 pet focus items in the whole game: the lesser staves, the greater staves, the augment with Summoner's Boon, a VT glove, and the above mentioned.
That the staves come in 4 different flavours doesn't mean that they are fundementally different - it could have been just one item that works on all magician pet types.

By the time (no pun intended) a mage can start dreaming about the SoAS only two focus items matter: the LDoN DPoC augment or the VT glove - as only these two pre-Time focus items work on PoP pets. Most mages I know that start into the EP don't even got a glimpse of the VT glove.

By the time the necromancer, the magician, and the beastlord all stand drooling over the SoAS they are not that different in the pet focus they are using presently.

The discussion who should get it is moot and not constructive - any guild at this level works with a dkp system of sorts. So if this is something you covet, you better raid a lot and save up for it. Grats when you win it.

I really don't know where this myth about DKP for high end guilds comes from. I have seen it since Velious. "by the time you get to NToV <guild_o1> will be DKP any way" Most of the guilds on my server (BB) seem to use allotment by either the guild leader or designated loot tallyier. Sometimes, I've even seen elemental item /gasp ... /ran 100
RE: Touche
# Jan 26 2005 at 8:25 PM Rating: Decent
items that are /ran 100 are because the guild/members' gear already exceed the level.

I've seen ep plate molds given to a pet cuz no one wanted to spend points on backup gear.

From experience, MOST (if not all) end game guilds are based on a DKP item to avoid favortism. DKP system just says that if you spend the time to lend a hand on raids, you have a higher chance (# of points) of winning an item.

By the time you reach this level of the game, most beastlords do have near maxed stats or at least they raid buff to it. Beastlords without extensive mana pools in raids can hold them back somewhat. Casting SD on a raid, Fero, slowing, patch heals and pet buffs all take a toll on the mana pool. But Yes it is also very desireable to have a good attack rating and HPs are always first.
