Hey there. My thought, for my monk is basically to meet this weight limit when i can and when i need to in certain situations, but also to explore. Now... until I hit 46 and can start getting some low weight planer gear that has even decent stats, chances are the simple fact is that I am going to be OVER weight. You know what... who cares. I might as well boost my stats and deal way more damage the whole time. If I am ever going to carry a 2hb weapon I am almost cetrtainly going to be over the limit anyhow.
My 2copper.
Damage and stats can be more important than weight in the mid levels.
umm...if u go acouple pounds over your weight limit you start doing less damage...and IM PRETTY SURE itll slow your attacks down after awhile...SO GO AHEAD BE OVERweight...i really wouldnt care altho my future, clean, monk wont turn into a greedy shizzit pipe that most are, i play a bard atm
Wrong friend. When you go overwieght, you begin to lose anywhere from 3 ac to about 6 ac per stone over your limit. It in no way affects how fast you attack, or how hard you hit. from rumors I've also heard that being overwieght will drain your stamina, but havent had first hand experience of this. /shrug play your game and stay safe.
uhhh, being overweight isn't the only issue here. How much you are overweight is what matters. for each stone that you are over, you are losing like 4ac more(might be different depending on your lvl). wearing a chest item that weighs 12 just for 10 str seems foolish to me. even with the 25ac on this thing, your ac is gonna drop because of the weight. there are gobs of items out there that add str.
Hmm. I look at the usable classes and see "MNK", and I have to wonder what monk in their right mind would ever use an item that, by itself, nearly hits the 15lb (hmm are they really pounds?) weight limit.
But then I look at it again and it hits me. 25ac. Seeing as weight over 15 lowers AC for a monk, the 25ac may very well compensate for a point or two of ac loss. A 24ac or 23ac boost with the overweight penalty is still certainly better than a sharp stick in the eye. =)
I'd be very torn whether or not to equip this on my monk. It's definitely a boon to any other meleer classes though.
Think that you will probably wear more than just a chestpiece, it is easy enough to find light armor that increases stats, also once you get much above 12 weight you lose stamina much faster and adding str will not offset being overweight. Monks are way way more powerfull when under weight.
But at 50+ levels weight allowances go up, while it might not be as affective for a L40 Monk, an L55 Monk might not get a weight hit and still get the 25 AC. And remember that STR adds to attack too.
Yes, monks have to be careful with that. A friend of mine who plays a monk bought a staw spun belt (ac10 wgt6). As an experiment I swapped him my thick leather apron (ac8 wgt 1) and his AC actually went UP a couple of points...
