Beastlord wearable, and with the dearth of decent AC items for the newest EQ class, i see the demand for this item increasing signifigantly as more Beastlords get higher in levels. I'm definitely going to look for one when my beasty (non-twink) gets to a level where he can hunt here.
You know.... This thing is really awesome compared to a ry'gorr tunic. BUT I wouldn't recomend this item to any female pally's. I hate to say but it just does NOT go along with plate. I had to re sell this item.
Ok, AC is king, but how would this compare to the Sebilite Coat? The Sebilite is 3AC less rather than seven for the Rygorr, with better stats and resists, so is this a reasonable tradeoff?
Kill for Peace, Elessarion Ranger of 33 Seasons The Rathe
I loved my old look - giant scalemail sleeves (black), ivy etched tunic (green), silver plated leggings. It was a sweet look and I was sorry to see it go.
Managed to pick this up in EC after selling off my Shroud of Nature. Picked up Rygorr sleeves and then my guild sisters helped me complete the Kromrif Military Leggings quest. (::sniffles only briefly about selling the ivy etched tunic she wore for 30+ levels::)
Have added at least 10AC and have gained a completely new look in the process. The tunic on a human looks like the tunic that the female druids at the WC druid port wear. The leggings aren't the most attractive but with the Treeweave, the Rygorr legs, the Ice Forged Shackles (great quest in Iceclad for any melee), it looks pretty nice, and of course, being all brown/gold, I now blend into forests. Heh heh!
The nice thing is that this tunic has 5 more ac than rygorr (been there, wore that, hated the look) but the same STR. The weight kind of sucks, but my STR overall is high enough that it's rarely a problem. AC is soooo critical to a ranger - I weild a velium axe of the venemous brood and a wurmy (well, I'll upgrade the wurmy when I can but oh, the damage is sweet). Recently I tanked for a group in Sol - 3 shamans, 1 chanter, 1 druid, and me - I held the aggro and they DOT'ed/nuked everything to bits.
Rangers don't LIKE to be tanks, but we CAN tank when the situation arises. This tunic is a nice addition to help us do so. :-)
Navarra Meritage of Amazon Storm Ranger of 42 seasons Seventh Hammer
hello all, to all worried about matching sets of these armors or that armor, when your in a plane getting hit for 100's of points of damage, at least youll look pretty when YOUR dead, if you are a tank AC comes before a nice matching ****** set of armor, trust me i gave up my rygor bp, for a treeweave, i looked damn sweet in all rygor, but 7 AC more is invaluable, you can look pretty dead, panzy, ill be alive laughing over your corpse, but certainly admiring your fashion sense, im a mutt of armors, and betetr off for it! oh go to the hole with pretty armor, i know some elementals who will like to smack on your low AC butt, oh and ive noticed, AC is a formula, the 7 AC adds more than 7 AC, take a look, over my rygor BP
I have to agree as well. Function over fashion. More AC = I live longer. Pretty look = I leave a nice looking corpse. Hmm I tend to want to live longer, but that's just me.
There are those that want to roleplay or have their "look". I tend to think save your neat looking gear for when you are in town or at the marketplace buying/selling stuff. When you are out among the baddies, look ugly but keep my behind alive! I may COMMENT on how pretty you look, but I will THANK you for saving my tail ;)
YUP YUP... an increase of 7 raw ac = 11total ac... not too shabby... Multiplier is 1.6 for Knights, not sure if its the same for rangers, but I would assume it is...

Myself a 48 wiz alone with a 49 nec a 47 war 39 monk and a 45 sham took down gorgul the first time we killed him he droped the tree weave. it was defulted to the warrior
I just got one of these for my Ranger and in my opinion it really is best suited to them, we have such a crappy AC the 25 is pretty sweet, compare that to the Ivy Etched Tunic AC 19, Str +3 Wis +3 and some saves. It was a hard choice but 6AC and 7 more Strength is worth the 3 Wis loss in the end cause when it comes down to it we are a melee oriented class and we shouldn't be putting too much drain on our mana anyway. Other Hybrids can wear way better armor but the Rangers choices are somewhat limited, this fills the gap nicely with all the agro we take off MOB's we may not be suited to tank, we may not even want to tank but tank we'll have to. Rangers have a big target on their forehead whether they like it or not so any extra AC is desperately needed. With that AC we can worry a little less and show those other Hybrids the true meaning of damage. People often forget that Rangers are the only class close in damage potential to the Warrior almost even if you take everything into account. You can't expect a paladin to keep agro with a Ranger in the group because the Ranger will do far more damage. More damage=a Ranger punching bag. So don't scoff at this item it will help you be less of a drain on the healer.
As far as how this thing looks (I'm a Wood Elf BTW), I was really disappointed to see it's almost identical to leather which I loathed at low levels. In actuality it looks pretty sweet, at low levels I was in nothing but leather so I was this boring brown looking thing, but now I've got my green blue gloves, black helm and green everything else so when mixed together it's got kind of a neat looking effect. With the Ivy Etched Tunic on I was looking pretty green (it's not easy being green) this tunic really helps to complete a thrown together look that I rather like
Caeran Moonshadow Ranger of 45th Season The Seventhhammer Server
just wanted to point out that not only weapons/damage affects agro - i almost always play my 40th ranger with a 39 pally, often just the two of us - and lemme tell you she holds agro just fine, even with me pulling. flash of light and stun cause large amounts of agro, and using a slower 2HS allows her the time to cast without nerfing damage output. ever wondered why that mob turns around to look at you when you snare it? thats spell agro... imo rangers arent tanks unless they absolutely have to be (not to mention the fact that a same level paladin has probably 300 - 400 more HPs and better AC) - they are damage dealers and trouble shooters - IE pulling mobs off casters etc. i do a LOT more damage to mobs than she does, but i only get hit by ripostes...
as for tree weave, very nice. weight 12 is nothing, i am currently at 78 of 140 or so... gimme! :)
I and a small group (never more than 4 and 2 when Treeweave dropped) were camping the BW fort today. Gorgul can spawn anywhere in the fort or the enterence ramp. This guy hits very hard relative to the other mobs there (120's to 140's) so if you a ranger have alot of arrows to kite this guy around if you plan on solo'ing him. In my case a cleric and me (Ranger) saw him pop right at the enterence to the ramp when both at 50% mana. Started to try to tank him but realized quickly the cleric would have been oom. So, the cleric rooted and I just shot arrows at it til about 20 health (stepped in to tank a couple times, but not really worth it, given the damage I was doing and the cleric CH'ing me. The BW fort seems to be a favorite hangout of Druids/Necro's/Mages, though the spawn time is like 7-8 minutes and can support 2 full groups depending on lvls.
I'm replying to this post because I have a hard time believing a pally can outdamage a ranger of comperable level and equipment. I do think palidans are masters of controlling arrgo if played right and can make a mob ignore a ranger (seen it done in Hand/War in KC) but I've also dueled a pally and I know I can take one of comperable level if I play my ranger right.
The AC is worthy of consideration even for those who are normally fashion conscious and may be inclined not to wear a leather looking chest piece. For weight consideration it gives 10 str and weighs 12 stone that means when you put this on it's like having a no strength bonus chest piece that weighs 2 stone. For damage output you also have now added 10 strength to your strength value which means you hit harder no matter if the chest piece weighs 50 stone. For monks there has to be some point where the AC you lose by going over your weight limit is offset by the fact that a lot of monk chest pieces have about 10 less AC than this does, depending on your current dry weight and your level this MAY be an alternative to your current BP.
Here is a list of some common BPs and what they add or take from your carrying capacity, note all of these have lower AC since it's assumed if you had a higher AC BP you would not wear it over the treeweave and remember just because you SHOULD be able to obtain a better item at a certain level doesn't mean that chances or luck have you obtaining that item. Here "load wt" refers to the item wt minus str bonus to determine how much closer to encumbered you are by putting it on.
Anyone know the drop rate of this fine armor? We've camped Gorgul for about a week straight, about 5 hours a day (deep in the night actually), and have dropped him about fifteen times. No luck. I've heard several different answers:
1 in 10 1 in 50 (ack!)
Anybody know? Since Gorg himself only spawns about once every 45 minutes or hour, this could be a hell of a camp.
I've camped this spot with a SK for xp for the past 2 or 3 months and have seen 1 treeweave drop. Usally he'll just drop an opal. I have never seen it drop from an Ancient in all the time I've been there though.
How rare is this off the Anceints? About how many kills per drop?
and for god sakes people if someone wants ry'gorr over tree weave more power to them! end the flaming and keep these posts to useful information, not whos mom can beat up whos dad. :)
here it is: If I get my epics as monk, I need a chestpiece, and i can put the T staff away for a while. Still not being too rich, I was looking for an alternative better then a CCS...
so this came to mind.
25 ac 10 str. not too bad. 12 stones hurts though. But with T staff goners, I'll be at 8 weight, and I'd only be 2 overweight wearing this item, which means a loss of 8-10 ac...
Don't forget you get added ac for each piece. For a monk it's like add 2 ac for every 3 you get on a item ( more or less ); so this thing hands 41 AC instead of 15+10 = 25 (robe of the whistling fists) Okay, I'll lose about 10 AC wearing it so 31 netto AC left over.
I think i'll sell some stuff I still have in the bank and get me one of these till I get my hands on a PSC, fungi, PoG chestpiece or Kael quest armor (darn faction)
Basically it comes down to this: As a monk, if you have the weight spare, this item can be a cheap solution. If not, watch the AC it takes, and see if it still doesn't come out better then that dull CCS or whatever ;)
This is one of the nice pieces of armor that I could easily afford or get myself but IT IS TO BIG!! why are there so many things that dont fit small races? being a dwarf i can't wear Treeweave, Hero Bracer, or NICE Imbued Granite Spaulders someone please show me something high quality that only us shorties can wear. I am tired of getting the once over
Yeah, I play a wee lil gnome warrior; pulls her own weight, tanks as good as any barbarian and she's cute too ;) All us gnomies get that the biguns don't is dusty bp, clockwork armor, a few others; granted 30 str and similar massive buffs at your beck and call can be quite nice and so clockwork is nothign to sneeze at, but still :P
BAH!! dropped the goob like a bad habit and was all exited to get it, then (because I realy need a new Bp, this Mith is getting old and didn't look at the class/race restrictions)I go to equip and guess what!?! No luv 4 me, your class/race/deity may not use/equip that item. Bah!! No lub for the d0rfs. Dat blows. I however did give it to my Ranger twink, very nice indead. Why did verant make it so us shorties could not use?
Monks!?! thought they didn't get hit, hrrrm they lied! Why would any self respecting monk wear it? It is far too heavy and by the time they can get this they should have better, fungi tunic maybe... ah well just my 2cp.
I beg to differ, bro! Some Races that can wear Tree Weave may look less than desirable when wearing it, in your opinion. But my Erudite Pally looks sweet with the Tree Weave and steel/Ro pieces. I can't keep the babes away!
Vorgus of Deepwater, Knight of Dawn Order of Retribution E'ci
Don't make me laugh! this piece is WAY better than Ry'Gorr and honestly the only class that really needs to worry about their chestpiece being too heavy are monks and purecasters. Anyone who can wear plate will tell you that most of the high AC armors weigh around 10 stone anyways so the 25ac +10str is a huge improvement over EBBP for instance which is 25 ac no stats and only 2 stone lighter. For the classes that can't wear plate....stop complaining this item is virtually a blessing for your classes with the same AC as some good plate you better be willing to take the 12 stone which isn't killer anyways. This is however totally not a monk item but would make a great chestpiece for any of the other classes that can wear. As for rogues...you guys are supposed to have a bunch of str to backstab for more dam anyways.
This is MUCh better than the rygor BP, who cares if it weights more? I have NEVER even considered weight when i was buying an item, it could be 50 stones and i would still buy something, well maybe not 50 but you get the point.
My Paladin has a Rygorr BP ac18 str10 1stone. Why would I trade it for something that equals its weight in str? that doesnt help me much with my loads of loot. I know the ac is +7 more but is it worth it? I'm not sure it is
Bah, woosy Paladins my eye. I'm a High Elf Paladin, the "woosiest" Paladins of us all, coming in at 200 str with yaulp. Yeah, that sure is woosy. Of course I'm camping for one of these, that extra str is always needed, and heck the ac is very nice too. I have confirmed they drop in BW at the fort, but heard they drop off the Patriarchs in DL, this true? To the above post, I assume you're a warrior, I can take any warrior my level. Always have, always will.
almost identical? how long uve been playing this game? theres a BIG change from 18 to 25 ac,if ya gonna post something ,post something that makes sense....
Why get a treeweae IMO.. get a RyGorr Battle Mail. its stats are almost identical. AC18 10str + a few other add stats. PLUS it gets rid of that pesky leather look!
ummm for tanks ac is king, so u would want the extra 7 ac. for druids, they cant wear chain. for cleric, and shmmys well its totally up to them which they want resists or ac but i know most clerics opt for ac. monk dont usually wear this but if they do, this is better because they cant wear chain. and for bards and rogues, well they are rather fashion conscious so they might choose they rygorr over this. but i can only see shammys bards or rogues choosing rygorr because of extra stats or the fashion choice. course this costs 1k more on average but that is beside the point.
ehhh another personal idea :) there is also sentry bp or guardian(depend what u can carry) Better than ry'gorr for sure, and can challlenge easily the treeweave... of course if u don t care about claw of veshan faction =)

#Anonymous,

dont say that ANY class can use this so very effectivly...i think that the high weight wouldnt be to great, but since i see a whole bunch of posts saying this is monk only (a monk is my next twink btw) im not gonna turn into another greedy **** monkey after 0.0 weight stuff altho maybe giving away Foreman Tunics to the n00b monks might be good since its better than Cured Silk in every direction
#Anonymous,
Posted:Apr 21 2001 at 10:49 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why do they make it large or medium classes only? I would pay 10k for my dwarf warrior to be able to wear this.
Keep in mind that this thing drops of a 30ton giant.. considering the sizedifference between him and your 2feet dorf i would say the answer is kinda obvious. )
